Full HD media player with 2 x USB, HDMI, eSata, Network, Remote.

confusing… aver's own compare page reckons this model is not 1080i ready
Look again. The specification on the comparison result page is HDTV ready not 1080i ready as you stated.
Only units with an inbuilt TV tuner can be HDTV ready. This is a 1080p capable media player.
if its not 1080p, then its useless. Can anyone confirm and if anyone knows if this is better than the WD live. im still looking for a better media player then the WD live player…. but everything else is just a clone of the other… cant find the ultimate player yet. ( unless you have a kickass laptop to decode everything through VLC).
Or a HTPC with xbmc.
I just built one for $350 and it rocks the socks.
On the box I purchased today, it states "1080p Full HD". Check the link I posted before for a good review. While a tad old, this seems pretty good value I reckon.
The MSY site isn't saying anything about 1080i…
It says 1080p, just like on avermedia's product page
What's the problem?
use the comparison function to compare this model with the HD model… and you'll see this one doesn't have a tick for 1080
Again, it has a comparison table item for HDTV 1080i/720.
Not 1080p.
Both of them indicate 1080p on their product information pages.
I think it doesn't come with the Wifi(optional) as well.
Does anyone know if this supports MP4 and MKV properly?
Full product spec link is above.

This is the reason I bought a Samsung Bluray player that supports MKV.
Does it plays RM/RMVB format?
why the need for such outdated format???
Like phunkydude I would like to know if it plays rmvb formmat as well as I do have a fairly large collection of korean drama in rmvb format for my parents to watch. Already have box rmvb player but it only support resolution up to 720p and doesn't plays mkv which my Samsung bluray does. so i am after a cheap player that support hd and rmvb as well as mkv. The product page didn't mention rmvb in the list of video format that this player can play, can some one who owns this player confirm whether this player can plays rmvb before I put my orde in online for one?
Thanks
You answer lies in the review posted
"One of Sigma's shortcomings, however, is its apparent lack of love for RealMedia's RMVB format"
Weird. Went to MSY looking for the $56 Noontec, which they couldn't find, and left with the AverMedia. Only review I found in English was this one: http://www.hardwarezone.com/review-avermedia-averlife-extrem… (Check the insides picture O_o )
Considering that I am using this purely to replace an xbox that is being moved, this was a bargain. I'll add a wireless dongle and hard-drive and set it up for bit-torrent.
Had 1-2 left in North Melbourne.
Seems like a great buy, but good luck ringing around trying to find one. I just rang the Cheltenham store 15x on their 2 lines using 2 mobiles, and it rang out at all times.
They are the WORST customer service I've ever experienced - I stood in line once for 25 minutes while the guy served ONE customer, while I was second in line in a queue of around 6 people. When I suggested to the sales rep that he could ask if anyone only needed one item and could serve them, instead of explaining indepth to the customer he was with about the benefits of RAID 6 vs RAID 10 (or something like that), he glared at me and told me not to interrupt while he was with a customer. The customer thought he was a tough guy and also told me to wait my turn; as he'd also been subsequently waiting for half an hour.
Before you consider supporting MSY, please remember that you may be waiting in line for a considerable amount of time. Ask yourself - is this place worth my time?
You ever try Fluidtek, Eddie makes MSY seem friendly
Who haven't got abused of some sort from our friends at MSY?
You should have marked his name down and nominate him as the employee of the month.
Big deal… you want to pay extra for staff…
If you like MSY's lower prices…
PS Do -we- need to hear you had to wait 20 min's? :-/
How is your post constructive? Instead of trying to slander ME, how about posting YOUR experiences, instead of wasting everyones time 'commenting about comments'.
2 emails sent with no replies.
Rang for over an hour constantly with no answer on either line.
Awesome service.
definitely support 1080p, use Sigma chip, made in Taiwan, but not a new product, was released in 2010
This looks cheeeeeap.
Anyone know where to buy the AverMedia WiFi dongle?
(I like the design, w/vertical antenna; might have some gain)
Comes with a USB dongle in the box. It is not mentioned on the box, but was one inside my box when I opened it last night. (thats what she said)
Just got mine. Dongle in box.
Looks real good, but one may need to allow $10-$15 for a dongle if they plan to feed a wireless input. Something like Wireless N WiFi USB Adapter ($14), unless a bargainer knows one better? Thanks OP.
yo, there is a dongle INSIDE the box. I opened mine last night, and there it was. Connected and updated firmware with it straight away. Great buy!
If you guys want the best customer service from any MSY store, I reckon Brooklyn is the best in Melbourne. Always pick up phone and answer emails in 10 minutes. Never been let down by them. The manager is very nice, indeed. Anyone knows his name?
With all of the extra space inside, do you think it is quite feasible to insert a HDD?
Even if it is one designed for external use, and drill a larger hole to fit the USB or SATA cable from inside to the out.
This way it takes less space than the Media Player and an external drive.
And if it is any good, cheaper than WD TV Live Hub.
I bought one just a while ago and it didn't have a Wireless Dongle in it tho :(
Serious? Couple of others said they got one, Was going to go pick one up tomorrow if it did.
Can't seem to find if it's 10/100 or gigabit LAN. All I can see is "LAN", including in the user guide.
It is a good Media player. Works well with all my media library.
Available in branches: Sorry, this product is currently out of stock in all NSW branches.
I hooked mine up and it does not work as expected. There is nothing wrong with it, it does work as it should, I just didn't understand the whole UPnP thing.
If anyone wants it this price plus any freight required, PM me.
It is not rocket science.
If you are running windows 8. you just need to enable the Home Group sharing and select your library to stream.
MKV doesnt seem to stream from Windows Home Share tho. You would have to install TVersity or any other UPnP/DLNA compliant streaming server in your machine.
Or simply plug in any USB hard drive and play.
Sorry poor wording re "didn't understand the whole UPnP thing".
I know it is not rocket science; I am running OS X, and already have it streaming to two other devices.
The PS3 uses a system like this for MKVs via the 3 different programs I have, and my PVR does not. For some strange reason I was under the impression it would access my Mac like my PVR does.
My fault, but it is not how I want it run in future, so I will just pay 5 times as much and get a Media player with HDD included.
confusing… aver's own compare page reckons this model is not 1080i ready
