This is my first time posting and hopefully it helps some people out.

Aliexpress usually have discount coupons with a minimum spend requirement. The lower minimum spend coupons get used up pretty quick only leaving the higher spend values left.

The method below will allow you to use a coupon code for higher min spend even if the items you want are below the spend requirement.

WARNING - please make sure you have the fake CCV payment selected before clicking 'Pay Now' for Step 5.

  1. Add all the items you want to the cart.
  2. Add some items from a different seller to top the value of the cart to just the minimum spend requirement. The closer to the minimum spend requiremnet the better as the discount gets apportioned.
  3. Apply the coupon and make sure discount has been applied.
  4. This is the important part you will need to create an unpaid order. To do this click on Select Payment Method - Add a new card - Enter your card details except put in a 'FAKE' CVV number - Save and confirm.
  5. Click on Pay Now.
  6. You should then get a message saying "Please update your CVV number" Click on the X to close message.
  7. You should then get a screen saying "Payment Failed" Click back to homepage.
  8. Go to Account - Orders - Unpaid you should see the items that were in your cart seperated by seller.
  9. Click on the 'Top up order' and cancel
  10. Click on the orders you want and the discount which is apportioned should still be applied. Click Pay and you are done!

I used this method with the last round of coupons and worked fine.

Thanks
Ray

Loophole will be fixed in a few hours

Nop, this so called loophole has been working and well known with the domestic Taobao/jingdong for years. I heard the worst they will do is preventing you from obtaining more discount vouchers if you abuse it too much. They are not actually losing any money, just failed to upsell you more than you need.

And btw usually Chinese companies are very efficient at fixing loopholes and preventing abuses when it starts to hurt their bottom line due to the sheer number of "cheap" people in China.

      • +1

which money-saving website do these "cheap" people in China flock to ?
        asking for a friend…

        Such a shame.

  • 'fraud: dishonestly obtaining a benefit, or causing a loss, by deception or other means'.

This is skating awfully close. Is it honest?
Not in the same category as claiming a package never arrived, or was faulty. But still involves giving false information to obtain a benefit that was not intended.

"Hacker" used to be a good honest thing, but in the public mind it is now associated with criminals. Using 'hack' here is not helping. Still a clever hack though :)

    • I'm unsure if Ali is AU registered in this case, thus you could be exposed to the CCP legal system v ours (and your implied fraud). Can't see either jurisdiction actually doing anything though.

      • +2

Its not about that, but what should be promoted here. There is no chance of being sued, even if caught.

    • +5

Exploiting a loop hole is not fraud, at the end of the day they can still cancel your order and refund you. If they ship it out it's on them.

      • +1

Exploiting a loop hole is not fraud

Someone should tell that to Xu and his friends who found a loophole in the KFC ordering system I guess!

        • haha wow $22,000 worth of chicken! that's amazing. But yea China… not the best judicial system lol

dishonestly obtaining a benefit, or causing a loss, by deception or other means

      That is China's mission statement.

Oh please! AliExpress is notorious for sellers that stitch people up and AliExpress sides with the seller. Wrong colour - no worries have 50c. Wrong size - have 67c, broken item - have 12c. Seller gets paid, AliExpress gets a cut, buyer gets something they don’t want and a salty taste.

I’m sure AliExpress gets their moneys worth from the data they mine from us through the app.

Ok got it thanks OP! now delete this post 🤣

  • +2

Good find OP. I shared the latest coupons and the minimum spend is US$45.

    • Doesn't work for another three days right?

      • That's what it says.

  • +1

Did not know about the revision feature! That’s awesome

  • +1

If you want the method just go and look at the first revision.

How long until that is deleted by mods?

  • +2

Or you can just order the items to meet the minimum spend then cancel the one you don't need.

  • Screenshot before it gets removed again, lucky I checked the second time.

  • +2

Will this work on store coupons?

    • Can anyone confirm this?

  • Will shopback work with this lol

    • Yeah interested to know if I can used cashrewards and still do this…

  • will try on next deal :)

  • I don't really buy from aliexpress but what's the deal behind those too good to be true price they have?

    • +5

Nothing too good about it, just buying cheaper by not paying big western companies to market Chinese products to you.
Sort by number of orders, read reviews and look at review photos, choose if the quality of the item is right for you.
Oh and be ready to wait a while, can be anywhere from like 2-12 weeks. Buy things that you can wait for.

    • +5

A lot of sellers list a cheaper item related to the original listing, so that the listing shows as $x-$y (with x being the super cheap price).
It can be pretty frustrating when you find an amazing deal, only to realise it's quadruple the listed price.

Other than that, though, it's just regular chinese-made crap that you can get directly so prices are much lower, with the trade-off of slower shipping and bad customer service. I've never had any issues though, and I've been buying from them for years.

      • ok im going to give it a shot

        • +7

As a general rule of thumb avoid sellers with less than 95% feedback as they're more likely to be dodgy. Any stores with anything lower can't be shared on OzBargain as the risk is greater due to it being quite hard to get a feedback score so low.

    • +1

So with an average item (non electronic)
50% are made with crappier material than retail
20% look like that 50% but are ripoffs with some defect/even crappier material
10% look like that 50% but you get sth else when it arrives
10% just doesn't arrive, you do chargeback

      the last 10% are gems.

  • +3

OP's going to have a bad social credit score because of this loophole.

  • +1

This has happened to me twice over the years when the payment process stuffed up and didn't process. Everything went to Orders-Unpaid and I noticed I could cancel a couple things yet keep the same discount on the rest. I admit I hadn't been smart enough to think of replicating it with a mistyped CVV.

  • -2

I think it is safer if this stays in forums…not deal page…

  • Is it only the CCV or can the card number be wrong too?

    • I believe an invalid number may fail immediately, unless you use a generator to make it seem valid (they have inherent checksums).

  • +2

Does anyone know any currently active discount code to test this out :)

  • Thanks, Does this mean if there is an offer which says spend $45 to get a $4 discount, I can get $4 worth items for free without spending anything? :o

    • Not likely.

    • discount gets apportioned

    • +2

Unfortunately, no. The percentage discount on the item(s) you want will be the percentage discount of the coupon on your placeholder order (the one that actually meets the spending requirement). For example, if the coupon is $25 off minimum $250 spend, and your placeholder (fake) order is exactly $250, you'll get 10% off the individual items afterwards. This is why the closer to the min. spend you get on the fake order, the greater the discount on the items you want.

  • Anyone tried this with the new coupons?

  • +1

Its so weird, tried this method and my payment went through with wrong CVV but on aliexpress payment still being verified. Also it seems aliexpress order cancel as not pleasant as amazon so beware. At this stage I need to wait 24hr and see if they payment verified or not :(

    • Hey.
It also went through with wrong CVV in my situation. And they took money from my bank account already. I am wondering how we can fix this

      • Wait till your payment verified and cancel order asap. One seller accept my cancel order and other one just dont want cancel. Making excuse item already shipped although I sent cancel order 12 hrs before order was shipped. Good luck with the seller :(

      • How much did you lose?

        • 100 bucks lol

          • @c550hunter: my lord..

          • @c550hunter: You could try saying to the bank where was unauthorised access of an order amounting ??? as I can see the wrong CVV was entered?

  • Hi OP, i see nothing like 'top up order' etc on the page. I did follow every steps exactly the same. Am i missing something? I carted like 5x of $50 products.

    • Nevermind! I found the way. Thanks OP!

      • Did it work? how did you make an unpaid order?

        • I had expired card number saved so I used that to go through the payment window but obviously it cannot be charged. So it just goes into unpaid order and just pay the seller that you were genuinely going to make purchase from.

  • +2

Gosh. I tried the method. Somehow my payment went through with the wrong CVV. They already took my money from my bank acoount. How is that possible? Now they are shipping. I tried to contact the store to cancel my order. Is there any way to cancel it

    • If they already shipped, the seller likely dont want cancel the order. Your only way is to call your card provider and request a charge back.

      • Looks like you found a loophole in VISA/MASTERCARD company.

    • Maybe not really worth doing it this way. Doesn’t save that much and it’s too easy to get it wrong and end up with a load of crap you don’t need or want.

  • What the? It said "payment successful" with an incorrect CVV!

    • So what is going on? are you going to try cancel your order? How much was it?

  • Really glad I didn't end up trying this now… just ended up buying way too much stuff I've been stockpiling in my cart over the month anyway (:

  • Negging this. It doesn't work reliably for at least several users including me - and I followed the instructions to the letter. Now I'm in timezone-delayed negotiations with the sellers to cancel a bunch of carp that I didn't want (the 'top-up'). Others have had said carp shipped already. Until this hack works reliably for all I'd say beware - you don't want to deal with what we're dealing with.

Also, a little unsettling to know that Aliexpress can charge your MC without verifying the CVV. What kind of gateway/security is that??
