I had one of these, didn't last too long before it bricked itself though.

    • Same. Never buying Sound Blaster products again.

    • Mine ballooned in the middle like it had a tumour. Great product.

    • Mine lasted 3 months before it decided hissing was the only noise it wanted to send out.

G6 Came out October 2018… is a new one coming soon?

    • We've got the GC7 launched just last year! https://us.creative.com/p/sound-blaster/sound-blaster-gc7

      • Thanks for heads up. Unfortunately the newer one has a lower quality DAC onboard. G6 is 32-bit / 384 kHz, GC7 24-bit / 192 kHz.
Got a higher fidelity G7 coming?

  • Oh I got this as an upgrade for my PC and I like how the setup was super easy and it works well for me, audio quality is wayyyyy better with G6 in my opinion.

At least if it's USB it shouldn't require drivers…

    • How did you come to that conclusion? USB hardware still needs drivers.

      • It doesn't need a driver from Creative though, which means it might stand a chance of working properly.

    • That’s a misnomer

  • OP, how is this compared to X3?

does it come with Dr Sbaitso??

  • Been using mine for just over a year and overall love it.

The software leaves a little bit to be desired and can sometimes bug out (lost custom EQ profile once, occasionally unresponsive) but overall it's pretty easy to use.

FWIW Looks like I paid $179.95 in December 2020.

    • $10 inflation!

  • AE-5 Plus master race here.

  • Currently have a Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium, would it be worth upgrading?

    • Could you share what's your primary usage for it?

      • pc is connected to my tv & home theater amp with floor standing speakers via optical audio cable and hdmi video, to play pc games and watch movies (netflix, disney etc)

Are EMU effects important to you? Apart from the EMU effects that aren't present in the G6, G6 is better in audio quality and clarity, as well as headphones support. G6 also comes with Dolby decoding that the X-Fi Titanium doesn't support. Hope this helps!

  • can you use this to improve audio on car?
