Checked Electricity and AGL's rates are so high in SA it would be $35 more per month more than my current provider, so the $100 gift card would be redundant after just 3 months as I would've paid over $100 more on my bill.

Isn’t the Tesla batteries helping in SA?

      • Maybe they haven't heard SA is running on 100% renewables most days for hours at a time

      Who is your current supplier?

      • I'm with Elysian Energy

What's their solar feed in tariff?

ReAmped is the way. Much cheaper rates for VIC

    • This.

    • Reamped for my address in NSW was around 18c for the ReAmped advanced a few months ago, now it's showing 24 cents. I still get a cheaper rate from PowerShop at 20 cents.

Would cost 30$ a month more than my current provider.. after 4 months it wouldnt be worth the gift cards

  • +4

AGL "discount" plans last either 12 or 24 months after which you're paying a high rate. So if you're not paying attention, you'll cop a bill ~20% higher for that quarter. It wasn't until I switched to ReAmped that AGL starting calling me with offers.

    Too little too late.

  • "In case the switch or connection is cancelled within the first 30 days the transaction would be deemed invalid."

So you can switch in for 31 days, pay the extra $30 or so, then switch out again to someone else. Pretty cheap gift card.

So its some shill AGL website which pretends to be the government compareenergy. Trusting that 0%. You'll pay for whatever 'bonus' you get in higher prices.

Hi gakko, Econnex is a comparison service and independent from the retailers, we provide an exclusive offer to customers to help them get better deals. we will show rates from AGL on our panel based on a few questions.

      • +2

However that doesn't address the point that there is a verifiably independent Government comparison site for those who don't wish to swallow whatever a vested interested party may utter when touting for business. You are pushing a deal with AGL. ipso facto, your "independence" is questionable.

"This Econnex Comparison platform is powered by Cimet Sales Pty Ltd ABN 72 620 395 726. We do not compare all brands in the market, or all products offered by all brands. At times certain brands or products may not be available or offered to you. If you proceed with an energy plan through the Econnex Comparison platform; Econnex Comparison, CIMET Sales and CIMET Sales partners may each receive a referral fee.

        • Hey terrys, Yes there are government websites that show the market comparisons with all available plans from retailers which allow you to visit their sites directly to sign up. However, as a comparison service, Econnex is not a government site, ours is a 100% free online comparison tool' and do have those same plans listed on our site from AGL as you can get directly from the retailer and the referral fees we receive we are able to offer additional promotions such as this one.

  • Upgrade?Do you mean switch plans for existing AGLcustomer?

    • Hey Smallman, yes if AGL is your current retailer, you can upgrade your plan with AGL

      • Your definition of upgrade? I have moved house and I am in the very high AGL contract as default, so any plans with AGL for me is getting a better deal. Is this still considered upgrade for the 200$ eGift Card?

  • +1

No offers in ACT… but I had to go through a data harvesting page in order to find that out. Shithouse.

  • What happens if you move house before the contract is up?

  • Hey poxy001, most retailers allow you to cancel your contract at any point however, you can always transfer your connection to your new address. Either way, we recommend you check your contract or speak to your provider to confirm their mover policy.

  • Separate observation; econnex offers cashback via Cashrewards when you sign up for a new utilities account through them.
An example is that you might get about $100 cashback on signing up for one of the AGL accounts that is featured when you click through to them via econnex. The key detail is that you're not necessarily seeing AGL's cheapest plans when you click through via this route. One I tried before offered $100 cashback, but failed to display the AGL plan that offered $300 in rebates directly from AGL.

Don't assume that econnex is showing you everything that you'd want to see… the utilities companies are giving them kickbacks for selling you their highest margin plans. When you're browsing on econnex, also go to the government energymadeeasy website, and also go directly to the utility company websites, just to check that you're aware of all of the options.

The https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au/ website is a tremendous resource for people in QLD, NSW, SA, ACT, TAS. And no data harvesting for future email spam, either.

  • This AGL deal, does it includes the $50 + $50 credits for electricity + gas?

  • Hey hhbb555, Yes, $50 + $50 credits for electricity + gas is included in this offer, Please be advised, According to terms and conditions credits are only for value saver plan and only available in NSW and QLD states.

  • is the $200 gift cards still valid?

    • Hi Shabola, yes $200 gift card is still valid, just for today.

  • Hey OP, I have signed up but the confirmation email does not mention the $200 gift card. How do I know whether the offer was triggered?

  • Hey runamuck, As per terms and conditions, if you have signed up through the link provided, then you are eligible for eGift card, you may share your reference number in order to track your file and investigate further.
