Good purchasable prices, let's hope Amazon price matches, because everyone knows Gerry doesn't do the best prices.

    • +1

      I'm hoping Amazon match too!

    • -2

Why wouldn't you but from HN if it's the same price ?

      • +2

In my case, free shipping. HN is a bit of a hike to get to and shipping adds another $6 or so.

        • +1

While perseverating on Amazon PM vs. Coughing-up coin to HN, a lot of people missed out here.

$40 is a crazy good price for a new release 1st party Ninty game. The 2018 Kirby game (Star Allies) at times struggles to maintain a $69 price and drifts up to RRP $79-80 (I presume due to stock issues), and deals for sub-$60 have been rare. Personally, I got to it late and bought a second-hand (mint) copy for $50 delivered (minus small discount) from eBay.

I threw $40 at HN for Forgotten Land immediately. I PM'ed at JB for Superstars.

          Thank-you OP! Appreciate it 🙇‍♂️

          • +1

@muwu: I ended up biting the bullet on Mario Party. $50 was the price I was waiting for anyway so I’m ahead of that. Also grabbed 51 Worldwide Games which I guess diluted the shipping cost across two products since it remained $5.95.

            Already have the other titles.

      • +29

Probably cos of Gerry Harvey and his shenanigans.

"""In an interview in 2008, he described giving charity to the homeless as "a waste", and said that it was "helping a whole heap of no-hopers to survive for no good reason"."""

In 2016, Harvey expressed contempt for what he saw as political uncertainty since John Howard left office, and said the only solution is "to have a dictator like in China"

        https://www.afr.com/rear-window/gerry-harvey-is-everything-t…

His push for the GST to be applied to goods under $1000.

        His abuse of jobkeeper.

        etc etc…

        • +20

On the other hand we've got Lex Luthor from Amazon

        • +5

          Get his ass!

I'm all for being thrifty but if the option is there to avoid HN then please do!

          • +10

@Some Human: I dont think it's because of him having an opinion. It's because of what that opinion is.

    • Roughly how long does it take before Amazon price matches it?

    • +17

Everyone quick to mention about Gerrys terrible record but are willing to purchase from Amazon? I get it I dont support Harvey Norman either but Amazon are probably just as bad if not worse.

      • +8

I think it falls under a psychological thing, with Gerry being an Aussie and HN being an Australian brand - to do the things Gerry has done, the say the things he's said, are very 'un-Australian'. Those kinds of things being done by an evil american corporation run by a man that looks like a marvel super-villain - that's just par for the course.

        • Yeh but tech is cool. Gerry is old skool haha.

  • +7

thanks OP, called JB and got them to price match

    • interesting - I tried this with the Skyrim Anniversary edition, lowest they'd go was 60 (and it was 28 at HN).

      • What was their excuse?

        • apparently that was their buy price.

  • +12

Thanks! Awesome price for Kirby considering it just came out!

  • +5

Just bought Mario Odyssey, BOW, and Mario Tennis yesterday.. must not buy anymore games!!

    • +6

Trust me you only just got started.

    • It makes more sense to buy them when they're cheap and not buy for a while than buy occasionally and buy at high prices.

  • +3

Kirby is actually a really good game. played with my partner.

  • +1

Been playing a lot of Super Mario party and loving it with the family. Read that superstars is quite different but still going to pick it up assuming Amazon price matches.

    • +5

Superstars is 10x better than Super Mario Party!

      • The wife will be super excited then!

  • +12

kirby is not even out for a whole month and is already on sale.

    Damn!!!

    • +2

      I'll grab when Amazon drops

    • Seriously! Huge discount for a brand new game. Good game too

    • Probably a price error then

    • yeh its surprising, can only surmise it was a lot of hype and theres not much of a game there and its being found out. nintendo games don't drop.

bought it on release for the non-gamer gf who thought kirby was cute, and only glimpsed her playing it a couple times, and she'd already finished it… seemed to be a several hours long game, or she suddenly became a speed runner. both shocked when she finished it… the replay-ability functions seem super lame as well bullshit colour swap levels & collecting nonsense…

      • I bought it for this reason too. We touched it once. But not because of lack of enjoyment but lack of time

        • it looked impressive & cute as shit, and she enjoyed it as the second game shes played in like 20 years…. but yeh seemed incredibly short, mere hours for a ~$70 title, and the bosses even for someone who doesnt game pose zero threat or challenge.

    • It's fun, but very short. I finished it in a week.

    • I've learned not to buy Switch games at release. You can usually save $15 or more soon after release.

  • +1

Grabbed golf after just finishing tennis this week.

  • +20

Even at these prices I'll never give that thieving dog a cent of my money.

    • Price match!

      • +2

Honestly I'll buy Kirby and Mario 3D World (again) if they drop to $40 on Amazon… but deep down I know they'll just end up on the pile of shame, so no point go to the effort of a price match.

Picked up Metroid Dread for $49 a month ago and still haven't touched it.

        • +1

          Fair enough

Yeah I get that sentiment, steam library right up there with that.

    • Please explain ?

      • +4

        Ok Pauline

  • I just bought Kirby on Amazon, had it delivered 2 days ago.

Do they have any pricematch if price drops within x days of purchase or something? I could probably return it, but seems wasteful (and not sure if they return games since most of them are but shrink wrapped anymore)

    • Ask them if they can credit the difference. If not, try another operator.

Edit - yes, wait till Amazon price matched as they won't give you credit difference now, otherwise, return for refund and purchase from Harvey or price match JB/EB/etc.

      • Anyone have any success with price matching at EB?

      • +2

It happened to me recently. Amazon isn't keen to credit the difference. The game was sealed and i haven't even opened it. It would save everyone hassle + the environment if they just credit the small difference. In the end, it wasn't worth my hassle. They used to be very good at that when they first launched in Australia, especially if you are a prime member. They used to throw small credit here and there even for minor issues like late delivery etc. By doing so, they are making their customers happy and the credit eventually goes back to be spent on their business anyway. Win-win. Sometimes I do hope they do the 30 days price guarantee like some other retailers. BTW, returning requies $7 restocking fee unless the customer service gives you a return label (free in this case i think).

    • +1

You should be able to return it, usually just involves dropping it off at a parcel point, and them doing the rest.

Alternatively you could hold out and see if they end up price matching, order a new copy, and then put in a return request for your original copy after it arrives, but sending in the new one instead. Still gets you the lower price while not having to worry about whether the copy you’re sending back is in a good enough condition, since you’re really just returning an unused copy.

      • +1

I haven't opened it yet (it's a birthday present) so condition is fine. It's just a matter of whether they accept it since it's not shrink wrapped (never was).

Anyway, I'll wait until they lower their price and then I guess I'll ask if they can credit difference.

          • -5

@phoxfiyah: I’m guessing I’m getting downvoted because I’ve returned used games?

Just to clarify, the things I’ve returned were horrible games that I regretted purchasing immediately because they either didn’t work properly. or just weren’t worth the price. Like Chocobo Racing for example.

      • I am same boat here with Gamesman and getting my ebay order today. I called them up & they said they won't price match HN. Personally if is it worth return it for cheaper discount and losing pre-order bonus (Decor Prints Set) is another question.
Buying the pre order bonus on it own is worth as much is the discount so 🤷

  • Grab the top three! Thanks OP!

  • -1

    Wait for Amazon to match?

  • They do return games but won’t price match after purchase. JB just did a price match for me but I can’t see this deal lasting long so if you can’t get into a JB soon, I wouldn’t let it bother you and just enjoy the game.

  • +6

    OMG, COME ON AMAZ-ON!!!

  • Wouldn't mind Kirby - waiting for Amazon

  • Great prices. Especially Kirby. Thanks OP!

  • So judging by the comments, Harvey Norman is worse than Amazon/Bezos? 🤔

    • +5

Harvey Norman don’t accept returns and if the item is faulty they stall and mess u around.. horrible service to grab any money they can from u. My recent gift card experience from them was horrific.

      • +4

Which is sad as I generally try and support retailers other than Amazon as it would be shite if they monopolised to the point where bigger retailers go out of biz which would give them no reason to drop prices on certain items, but Gerry doesn't make it easy

      • Cheers, haven't bought anything from or stepped foot into their stores for many years anyway 😂

    • +1

      I might pay $4 🤔

      • Yeah it’s rough but it has had some patches. It’s still playable

    • It's one of those games you'd get for the collection but never actually play.

      • +1

That is 95% of the games I own ;)

I added it to my cart on Amazon yesterday to see if price matching happened - it's now $40 on Amazon

      • Does amazon notify you of price changes in items in your cart anywhere apart from the website? For example, email notifications?

        • i don't think so.. I don't have this set up anyway, so there may be. I just add things and check back every now and then.

        • I use the browser extension from https://camelcamelcamel.com/ to monitor price drops and pricing history on my Amazon wishlist. You can set up email notifications for price drops.

  • Thanks

  • Good price, been waiting for this. Prefer to buy from amazon though

    • I price matched with JB as I have gift cards to get rid.

      • Did you pricematch in person or online for JB?

        • I called the store

        • +3

Just use JB's pricematch number its 13 52 44, they will sms you a code to buy it

          • @Hunter9960: That number just put me through to a store - is that how is usually works?

            • @Scipio: Im not to sure, as I have used it before and got a store and other times the customer service team.

            • @Scipio: Depends, seems like there are CS that can answer but if they are busy, you'll get directed to the closest store from the postcode you provide.

  • +2

My amazon order was due to ship today, cancelled just in time.

    • +1

      Same!
now hoping they reduce their price

  • I bought Kirby at JB in early April for full price. Am I able to get them price match, buy another one and use that one to refund the old order? Do they do refund for games?

    • +3

Just enjoy the game, i got mine from EB on release day, that's way past the 7 day return period. lol

      • +1

Next time I won't buy games too soon after release. Will just wait for deals >_<

        • +1

Go back and start 100%ing what you have. Games go on sale faster than I can keep up. I'll grab HFW and Elden Ring at $49

          • +3

            @King Steuart:

            Games go on sale fast

For some reason that doesn't apply to Kena: Bridge of Spirits. :/

            • @wekimekigugudan: Looks like it's down to $36 with PS+ or $42 otherwise at the moment? Well worth that IMO

          • +1

@King Steuart: This is exceptional advice. Many people don’t even play what they have.

  • Waiting for Amazon price match

  • Is bowsers fury worth the $$ if one has already played through Mario 3D World on the WiiU?

    • +1

I heard it was short, like 5 hours or so, but excellent.

    • +1

For $40 I'd say it depends.

Its about 6-8 hours long. It is a very fun side game to play, and it you have limited gaming time I'd consider it a solid pick.

Although if you want to maximize cost to time maybe pick something else.

Personally I ended up replaying the main game despite already playing the Wii U version. The faster move speed made it feel nice and new to me.

    • +1

depends on how despo you are, its short, but pretty fun. you'll complete it & forget about it. i mainly got it because 3d world was my fav mario platformer and it was nice to have portable.

    • Here you go:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGj-D890CbI

You can always sell it for $40 with free shipping if you don't like it.

  • -1

These feel like pricing errors, but ok…

    • OK……..got my 'order is ready to pick up' email.

      • +3

I think they will honour them but makes no sense they would cherry pick these 5-6 games and make them $40…..very weird.

        • I mean Harvey Norman have been pretty decent on prices with games for awhile now. They're some of the cheapest prices on new game releases price-wise.

  • +1

    Thanks! Grabbed Kirby =)
Waiting for Amazon to price match would have been nice, but I can't complain at c&c from my local harvey's up the road.
