You can get a 1660ti from centrecom with $10 less

  • +9

    $410 for a 1660 does feel like a bad deal =/

  • +21

For $7 dollars more, you can get a 8GB RTX 3050. Quite a lot more powerful, more VRAM and it supports RTX features, such as DLSS 2.0

    • +3

Wow that 3050 makes this a bad deal.

  • +5

Big difference between a 1660 non-Super and 1660 Super, so this is a horrible deal

  • +8

lol not even a super. Remember it's non-lhr guys so you're paying the ETH tax.

Here is it's value pre ETH

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/569657 Oh wait that's super :D

Haha blimey and I thought prices were coming down. While they are on a downward trajectory, it really highlights how insanely stupid prices still are. Unpalatably stupid.

      • I know I'm getting downvoted a lot for being the messenger. A lot of people want others to think prices are currently good :S Hopefully the past isn't washed away and this becomes the new norm.

    • So all the 1660 range including Super & TI models are non-LHR's?

      • +1

Think so. Which is why they're same price as GTX 1070/1080 tier cards like 3050/rx6600

  • +11

I notice so many deals getting pluses these days, without reason and without posts. This site is becoming more and more like Amazon where it's hard to trust the positive reviews.

This looked like a bad deal considering regular posts of better cards - that are still overpriced IMO - are not much more.

Thanks to other posters who note better cards are cheaper or only slightly more elsewhere, and that this card is more than $100 more than 2 years ago, which is relevant IMO for tech deals, especially. This is a truly abysmal "bargain".

I think a lot of the comments thesedays are from people with interests to keep prices high. Not ozbargainers. This site is a threat to current gpu values (to them) so they all hop over here. That non-lhr bloke trying to pump bad deals and 3090's the moment prices took a downward turn is a perfect example.

      • +2

Probably. A lot of the upvotes, too. Easy to search for certain deals and click "plus". Harder to downvote because you need to comment. I much preferred HotUKDeals to this site for the way deals were ranked (by temperature), with trusted members' votes weighted higher.

Those 7 upvoters should only have the ability to give half a vote from now on.

  • +1

No, that is definitely a bad deal.

  • Amazon is great for a lot of things, especially tech like hard drives and peripherals. If you can pick them up from Amazon US/UK you can get some amazing prices. For whatever reason, graphics card prices are never really competitive let alone cheap on Amazon.

    • +3

They're like Bunnings. They price match every special until they bankrupt the competition. Once competition is gone no more specials

  • LOL we are once again going backward … This is a joke for sure! No way anyone will pay this much for a 1660

  • +2

    Yuck…

  • +1

I would have expected 1660 super for this price atleast

  • +1

Costs more than a 1660ti… yeah nah

  • Why are people up-voting this?
Bad price for an old card

  • +1

Huh? I bought one of these for $279.

  • +1

The Ethereum merge has been delayed indefinitely.

GPU prices are expected to go to the right.

Get in while they're still cheap.

Lets be honest shall we these cards are worth 200-250 new at best.

For 300-450 you can get a secondhand 1070/1080/2060 and get better bang for buck :)

Also other contenders would be 3050/3060 when they are on sale.

    • there was a deal on here the other day for a new 2060 for $450 I believe (nvidia released rev 2.0 cards to make some more $$$ from defunct nodes)

  • In my head this 'should be' around a $250-300 card, given 1650 supers were around that, back in the old country, and this has almost the same performance as that. $400… Yeah I'm sorry, it is a bad deal unfortunately.

  • +1

Should be less than 300 for sure.
