Roccar BREWING ART

The ritual of the pour over is like a meditation: There’s no machine in your way, no flashing green lights, no electric power cords. Just you and a few simple tools. The final cup is reminiscent of one from a drip coffeemaker, but noticeably more delicate and complex. Observe the bloom, experience the first trace of coffee-drunk steam, notice how the spiral of the pour alters the final cup. This simple experience gets you in tune with your coffee.

WHAT IS A WELL-BALANCED COFFEE FLAVOR?

A coffee’s flavor describes the overall and combined sensations/perceptions of the coffee’s distinctive aromatic and taste characteristics, the fusion of body, acidity, aroma, bitterness, sweetness, and aftertaste. Many of the best coffees in the world are well-balanced.Dripper 's Unique Micro mesh paten weaving and 60° cone shape appropriate flow rate of water to extraction of grounds coffee, helping reach the well balance flavor.

  • Thanks, ordered. Seems cheaper than other similar options on Amazon. Will see if it's actually as good as the paper ones it claims to be. I've been using the paper ones for a year+ now.

perfect for those who wfh and can put it next to their imac

  • Really odd that they chose to add the flat hexagonal structure to the mesh on some of the photos. Where you can see the back it looks normal but at the front they've just superimposed it.

These are good for a while, but as time goes on over a month the filter becomes more and more clogged with coffee oil, regardless of how well you rinse it in boiling water or otherwise. The pour becomes slower and slower. It gets to a point where a brew will take up to 10 minutes to come through, if at all. You can remove the oils by putting the filter over a gas burner for minutes at a time, or placing it in an oven for 30 minutes at a high temperature, but it oxidises it out and it is not a fun process. I've had limited success with using other cleaners, baking soda etc. Just be mindful of this.

    • What about in the dishwasher?

I'm sure there are solvents strong enough to dissolve the blockage.

      • Didnt really seem to help, but yes its just an added extra bit of maintenance that is required. The problem is the holes (perforations) are so damn tiny, normal methods do not appear to unblock them with ease.

I'm not an expert, just been learning over the past couple of years. It appears this process might not get as good results as simply just using a french press like this.

French press and pour over are different beasts, not comparable.

I understand they are different but in the spirit of Ozbargain I was wondering which one gives better results because you can buy a french press for $7 @Kmart.

Here is a video comparing them.

        • +2

the one that gives the best results is the one that you prefer.

personally i ranked espresso over everything else, i know a few coffee nerds that love pour over (there is some skill involved). i've made french press before, plenty of times, used to have a very nice stainless steel french press with a double mesh filter. the kmart one looks like it would get the job done.

Are these any better than the ones on eBay going for under $15? If not, then not really a deal
