Why wouldn’t anyone want to go into Perth city?

Pay for parking and pay more for food and goods you can get from shopping centres in the suburbs that have free parking?

    • not sure why?

    • +11

May be handy for those that work in the city and pay to park.

      • +4

People still work in the city? 🐷

        • +3

Sadly yes but also with this deal means charging in car park works out cheaper than charging at home

        • The government is pretending it's situation normal still.

          • @justtoreply: I work in the perth cbd everyday (by choice). Looks pretty busy as far as i can tell, not too far off pre-covid levels.

Speaking to friends over east, this apparently hasnt happened everywhere.

            • @cheesecactus: Pre-COVID Perth CBD was already dead. High vacancy rates and strong homeless presence isn't a good baseline.

Don't forget the pervasive smell of urine everywhere.

  • Can you buy a new card or does it have to be an existing account? Don’t see it anywhere.

    • You can purchase a new card however from the terms and conditions-
New Parking Cards will be processed within 5 working days from date of receipt during promotion period

You can also pick one up straight away if you don't want to wait. I popped into the Perth council house on St Georges Terrace and completed the application form during my lunch break yesterday (at the customer service counter on the ground floor).

I paid using credit card and got the parking card on the spot. I was told that it would take 2 hours for the card to be activated though.

Meanwhile in NSW …… Lord Mayor of Sydney increases parking fee to $10 per hour for beachside parking (probably to fund yearly rolex watch bonus)

    Thanks for the deal!

    Excellent deal!

Username and deal def check out

  • Friends in the cafe business have told me of recent cutbacks thanks to loss of foot traffic after the borders reopened and everyone decided to hide at home.

Too bad this couldn’t be predicted.

    • +4

Lol. It wasn't cos of borders opening.
Foot traffic has been significantly down since covid started in 2020 and a lot of people WFH. The past few months has been particularly bad with the community spread, and that came before borders opened.

It's because anyone with a brain has left the state.

      • Interesting observation from someone who lives in white shoe land. 🤣

"the kind souls from the City of Perth"

    Don't know about that LoL.

My wife OWNS an office in West Perth with it's own PRIVATE car park yet the "kind souls" are chasing all the owners of the car park to pay parking fees for parking in their own private parking spot.

Yes, this is in addition to all sort of other fees the City already charges.

So yeah, although I live around Perth and like it, wether the city should ever be called a "kind soul" is not in my vocabulary :)

My (poor) attempt at sarcasm- live in the COP and certainly not the biggest fan of Basil.

  • New members: so we add $100 and they have to add another $15 on top to get the $100? ($115 for $100 for free)
is there an expiry on credit?

  • Yeah- it looks like the $15 is a deposit refundable upon returning the card in a 'useable' condition.
