It’s still more expensive than edu store, but the price is quite good I reckon. Purple colour only.

So if it is cheaper on the edu store how is this a bargain ?

    • +5

Especially since they don't really check to see if you're eligible for the education discount

      • true, they didn't ask me anything, but it took 4 weeks back in november

        • I pre-ordered mine via the education store and got it on release day (I would be able to prove eligibility though as I work for a uni)

@kerfuffle: oh lucky you, I ordered on 18 October and they gave ETA of 15 Nov, but it arrived on 11th or 12th.
Well I am happy with this little device, mostly used for reading books and comics/manga.

@V003: I got JB to match the edu store pricing on release day

              • +3

@Ostrich: I always mention edu store and jb price match with 10% for me

                • @0PriceJack0: oh, that is very useful information,
                  thanks

                  • +1

@V003: Work well for macbook, mac and ipad… sometimes, i can get 10% off for iPhone too.

                    • @0PriceJack0: Unbelievable! My interactions with JB people has been price matching but no price beating.
To clarify, are you saying that when you ask the JB staff to price match the edu store, you also ask them to beat the edu store by 10% and they do?

                      • +1

@SailorGoon: Yeah. I always say I'm a student and I can get an 8.6% discount from their store. Or even more, depending on the product, then I ask would you do a better price, and they usually price beat by 10%. If they refused then I go with another JB. But most of the time they do

Had one for 2 weeks and sold it.
TID is crap after using FID on my 12.9" M1 since release.
Good for books inside, new kindle is better though.
Not good for websites and apps just a blown up iPhone look. I have a 13 pro max to compare.
I got the 256gb for $750 off ebay and sold it for same price, took awhile though so not as popular as Apple are making out with long wait times.

Can’t quite get what you are saying

            1. Be the laziest person in the thread, lazy enough not to spell two trademarked technolgies properly.
            2. Get negged, probably for different reasons - hell knows TBH.
            3. Call people idiots.

            What a class.

@pizzaguy: lol everyone knows what FID and TID means

    • Was thinking of changing from my iPad Pro 9.7" for one (I previously had an iPad Mini 2 which I liked). I liked the small size and weight of the Mini 2 and have a MacBook Pro 14" for bigger web use. Use an Android phone, so don't have the issue of the Mini being too close to the phone.

      • Your missing out on a lot with your MacBook and iPad by using a android phone.

        • Maybe a bit of convenience (although iCloud is a PITA and I'm an IT tech and Mac user of 36 years), but there are android equivalents for all the Apple services and cheaper (or free) too. Always wanted to get an iPhone, but there was always something that prevented me getting one. The outrageous price for larger storage, the overall cost (my current one 12/512Gb, only just superseded, was $600). I hate the price fixing and stupid high prices of iPhones.

Though I do find with my clients that iPhones (any Apple products) remain useful longer than Android phones and there are fewer rubbish apps, though really on both platforms there are heaps of good ones for any use.

          • @wfdTamar: You are paying for those services built into the cost of your Mac/iPad anyway.

            • @[Deactivated]: I mean the ones that cost extra like more iCloud space (the 50gb is an ok price, but any more is too much. Better options elsewhere) and Apple One.
