RAT Test for International Travel

Hey guys, I'm traveling to Vietnam next month.

Smart traveller states on their site:
To travel to Vietnam you must have evidence of a negative COVID-19 (PCR) test taken within 72 hours of departure to Vietnam. Alternatively, you can have evidence of a negative rapid antigen test, administered by a medical professional, within 24 hours of departure to Vietnam.

Some googling has shown that a PCR for international travel would cost around $150

Has anybody taken a RAT test for international
travel?

Do doctors charge and how much? Would a test at a pharmacy suffice?
Thanks.

I did the RAT with them at the Sydney international terminal ($59) for US travel a few days ago. Very quick and easy. Result came in 20 minutes.

      • Wow! Didn't realise the price is now $59. Their website still lists the price as $79.

79 is for PCR. I believe their RAT test has always been 59.

      • Nice little money-spinner considering the actual test kit is around $5.00

Can second this for Melbourne Airport. RAT is $59 from memory. You get the documentation within 15-20 minutes. Just go a few hours early to ensure there's no issues.

      • Do you know if this suffices for international travel?

        • Depends on the country you are visiting, best to DYOR.

        • As Mechz said it depends on the country. I assume this company wouldn't do it if it wasn't compliant with most countries, and it is within the airport as well. Best check the advice the place you are visiting gives out. It was sufficient for the country my family travelled to.

If Smart traveller says the below then it would be compliant:

Alternatively, you can have evidence of a negative rapid antigen test, administered by a medical professional, within 24 hours of departure to Vietnam.

Wife is flying out to VN next week and this is the same place she has booked in with. Her Auntie also used the same service when she went back about a month ago.

      • Oh, so I can just do it at the airport? Is it supervised by a 'medical professional'?

Because Terry white site says they do it for domestic travel and it's not the same as a medical professional. Something along those lines.

Thanks, this is much cheaper than what I found with my Googling

Yeah you gotta get the travel PCR test that comes with the certificate. Also need that declaration (we didnt know we needed this until we were at the check in counters).

    Its here https://tokhaiyte.vn/

Also need your international covid cert (myGov/Medicare).
