I don’t think PCIe 3 vs 4 makes a difference except with the RX 6500 XT due to having only x4 lanes
correct.
6600xt only has 8 lanes, it makes a difference but not that much
Yep you're right, had a 'moment' there. Techpowerup only has it as a 2% hit on pcie 3.
I don't know about it being a coin toss. Benchmarks show the 3060 averages ~10% slower than the 6600XT at 1080p/1440p. They seem roughly matched at 4k, but neither are really that suitable for 4k anyway.
10% more performance for a slightly lower cost doesn't sound too bad to me.
This price is garbage though. The 2070s deals were around $550 and it's msrp was 499.
Assuming AUD today = AUD when 2070 was released
Pretty good card at this price, you miss out on the Nvidia feature set (if that matters to you), but pure rasterization gaming this is going to be a good fit for 1080p.
The only nvidia feature worth mentioning for gaming is DLSS. I have a 3080 and I can tell you ray tracing is basically not worth the time of day. A 3060 cannot do ray tracing beyond 'seeing what it looks like'. A lot of games don't use DLSS, but some will and the results are good.
I have a 3080 so I'm well aware of the feature set. DLSS is magic - love it. I use RT in AAA titles too, Metro Exodus EE was maazing, as was control, and I liked the effect in DOOM Eternal. I also use Nvenc to stream to my Shield Pro.
So for me and potentially other buyers, there are more features worth mentioning.
so basically for anyone thats actually going to use it to game should buy this? considering not a soul on earth would use dlss with its 900% smeering, or ray tracing considering a 3060 is poop
DLSS 2.0 doesn't have the smearing you refer to afaik. I think that was 1.0.
Still exists and always will no matter how improved it is
@abjsdhasehasee: People seem to recommend it these days (GN, HW Unboxed) but I may have to test and see. I do hate chromatic aberration which apparently some people like so maybe it's a preference thing.
I use DLSS whenever available and have no smearing. My experience shows this is massively overblown, usually by people who don't own RTX cards or use DLSS themselves.
I think some certain little items in the distance can look worse but for the most part it's mostly just a huge fps boost. I'll keep using it
If playing at 1440P, taking advantage of DLSS, and especially if you play NVIDIA sponsored games then i would definitely choose the RTX 3060 or the Ti variant if wanting to spend more.
the 6600XT uses less power at the wall if that matters to people.
6600 XT over 3060 unless you bleed green. 3060 isn't powerful enough for ray tracing and DLSS only works on certain games - plus theres RSR and FSR on the AMD side.
3060 Ti over 6700 XT though, IMO.
i've got a 6600 8GB place holder waiting to upgrade to a low/midrange RDNA3 card - RX7700XT (RTX3090 performance level)
So is it 3060 Ti > 6700 XT > 6600XT > 6600?
6700xt > 3060 ti > 6600xt > 3060 > 6600
If only looking at performace alone.6700xt marginally better than a 3060ti but they're more expensive, and the 3060ti's RT and DLSS features offset the better performance of the 6700XT.
Just my opinion, man
3060 ti is better value for money vs a 6700xt but its also better value vs a 3070 :)
hmm 1080ti used for $500 or this?
A 1080ti would be well used by this point, and given it's not much cheaper I'd go this.
The 6600xt is faster according to youtube videos 6600xt vs 1080ti
Also the 6600xt uses way less power 130-160w vs 200-300w
Add warranty, much longer driver support and less heat to that and its a no brainer what card to get. 6600xt all the way
6600xt or 3060 (MSI GeForce RTX 3060 GAMING X 12G for $30 more)
alternatively i can wait a little and use my current 1070 ti if prices are expected to drop further (this is for a Ryzen 5600 btw)
All the people who "couldn't resist" last week could've had an asus instead of asrock for the same price.
I paid $490 for this same card but the 6600 non xt.. i would pay $60 more for this XT version if i waited.. but thats how it goes..
I've actually got this exact card in a build, and while it's good, I'd prefer the Asrock triple fan model for the same money.
both are similar build and run similarly cool (along with every 6600 series card), and same warranty
I'm sure they're fine with their purchaseBNPL works a treat with these things (2 weeks no pay).. 😅 I got 2 orders refunded of a 6600 (non xt) last week for $469, and a 2 fan version of a 6600 xt a few days ago for $559, just to settle with a 3 fan 6600xt for $545. 🤣

Just got a TXT, I couldn't remember I bought something from them before.
How can they cheaper than wholesales supplier?
ASUS reduced prices by 25% on 1st of April.. most likely stores will be looking at some type of sale rebate.
It's still available at this price…
One of my worst buying experiences ever. After placing order via PayPal they wanted my utility bills and driver's license. I refused to provid this as I have no idea how secure this data will be with them, after arguing them all day they told me to cancel order and place with a CC, I did this and next day they wanted picture of my CC, utility bills and driver's licence and passport. This is ridiculous, treati g me like a thief. Extremely disappointed and will never buy from them. I will never provide this type of data to a online retailer.
If your system has PCIE3 then the nvidia, if your system has PCIE4 then it's a coin toss based on your preferred games. DLSS is better at higher resolutions so I'm not sure if the 3060 is going to have the grunt to take advantage of it. DLSS at 1080p isn't great.
