Been looking for one of these a while.
Without going refurb, this seems like the best deal going.

Defintiely not the same thing.
This or just powerline and extra wireless router?
If you got a spare router or can find a cheap one, power line adapters have been a god send in my two storey flat. Cant justify the cost of these mesh systems to be honest.
Yeah. I keep thinking about it.
The mesh is over wireless so you're creating wireless daisy chains that have to modem repeatedly and is subject to interference.
Powerline only good if you on the same circuit. I need to run wifi back from my shed (where Starlink dish mounted) and its on different power circuit, otherwise I definitely would have went this route for price (EoP cheap as chips).
Powerline is really hit & miss for me. Sometimes plugging in a new appliance and the bandwidth would drop.
The tenda mesh system is so affordable. Its comparing water to mud
Love me tenda
I have a Telstra Smart Gen 2 router and Asus AC68U.
My Brother MFC-L2750 DW printer can only print wireless if the devices are on the same network (connected to the same router that is connected to the printer)
Take it to Officeworks for 5% price beat.
You cant. Its ebay
Will they match an ebay price with a coupon?
They will not match ebay. Full stop.
Do you know why?
@HamBoi69: Probably too much hassle for them to verify if an auction is legit and what codes work for which items. Which is fair enough.
@pizzaguy: Fair.
This product made a massive difference in my 3 bedroom house. Worth the money.
I don't need this for the wifi, as my rental isn't multilevel, but I don't have an ethernet port in the office.
Can I plug my PC into one of the AP's?
If so, will it be faster than the onboard wifi on my Z590-E?I think my onboard wifi is doing pretty well, but i wonder is this would be better
The 2 wifi point units do not have Ethernet connectors. You could buy 2 base units and use the second to plug your PC.
The previous generation on sale via Amazon UK has Ethernet connectors on the wifi point units. My TV and my computer think they have wired internet (they're actually plugged into wifi point units).
Does it beat onboard wifi you reckon?
@BirdPirch: Well, the thing about mesh wifi is that the signal is strong everywhere. So if your onboard wifi adapter is good, then there's not much difference. But I've got a TV with an unreliable wifi adapter and it seems to go much better with an ethernet connection to the Google Wifi point unit.
Meanwhile the old computer I use for Zwift (indoor cycling training app) has a problem where it doesn't auto-connect to the wifi on startup (even though "connect automatically" is selected). So I just plugged it into a Google Wifi point unit and it thinks it's got ethernet to the router.
I don't notice a whole lot of difference in performance, but eliminating one "over the air" part of a network in favour of a cable is never a bad thing.
Powerline ethernet will, at best, give you almost the same speeds as being plugged straight into the router.
TP-Link Deco have 2x ethernet ports on all the APs.
does Mobiciti still have a bad rep for being the worst Gray importer?
Have these. Working well.
are they wifi 6?
No, it is WiFi 5. Eero is WiFi 6 tho.
thats ashame it was almost good
TP-Link Deco M5 is a very affordable alternative, with the benefit of an ethernet port on each point.
Can't speak to this but ASUS mesh has been fantastic on my ac88u and 2 ac68u routers. What I would suggest though for anyone looking at 2 storey setups is consider getting a cabler in for at least one point between where your router currently lives and another on the second floor. The latency difference going from ethernet backend vs wireless backend mesh is substantial and you're going to have a better overall experience if latency matters to you.
Powerline is decent for latency, but throughput is abysmal. The 1200mbps units I setup my niece cap out around 50mbps for a roughly 12-15 meter cable run, So fine for general internet, but internal file transfers take a while and you need to reset them every couple of months for whatever reason in my experience with these and other powerline models.
The cable might be more expensive upfront but it wil be cheaper in the long run for people like me that keep tinkering trying to find the next device that does a better job.
Second this. Think Jim's antenna installed some CAT5 from one side of the house where the router lived, over the roof and through the wall on the other side into my study for $140-ish. I'm only 8m from the router but no point chasing good speed internet plans on OzB, then running over wifi. And easy for the install when house is weatherboad, but same principle. Even if you're renting, just do it.
No wifi 6 … nah will let it pass
RRP is $549 and no Wifi 6 in 2022 !
Just my two cents. Having endless issues with daily dropouts with this exact set for the past three months, Google support /Tangerine/More NBN/NBN Co are of no help and pointing the finger at each other. Also unable to setup the Google Points to create a Mesh network. Had a replacement Google set sent and still daily dropouts. I'm on HFC NBN if anyone has the same issues.
I'm currently looking for a replacement router for Google Nest router now.was reading about the Asus XT8.. but damn its expensive
have you tried connecting directly to the NTD and seeing if you still have drop outs? I'm on HFC, with Gen 1 google wifi, and have had no issues
Interestingly, I was looking to replace my Nighthawk R7000 with a mesh as the wife (who is WFH) is continually complaining of drop-outs on AussieBB… but didn't have the same complaints with Superloop. Perhaps ISP change first for me…
Thanks mate I'll give that a try
I purchased these when they first came out. Brilliant - they solved all my connection issues - 2 storey home with ABB. Highly recommended. They are worth the investment to solve the coverage issue.
Isn't this much cheaper from Amazon UK via AU at $229.41? (https://www.amazon.com.au/Google-WiFi-System-Works-Coverage/…)
