I tried to clean the carpet in my 9 bedroom house, it was such a pain, I would not recommend.

    • +7

If you were trying to clean the entire carpet with a spot cleaner I'm not surprised it was a pain.

      • +9

Afterwards I took it to the local bowls club to clean the artificial grass, my back is so freaking sore.

    • +1

Do you mean to clean a spot or whole carpets as it's only meant for spots not whole carpets.

    • +3

      9 bedroom house

      Well done

      Top trolling lol

    • Your whole house? C'mon man, you cannot be trying this now.

    • Did it clean your spots though?

  • great for cars and spot cleans.

I have used one recently and would definitely recommend it for those who like to detail their car(s) or spring clean their furniture thoroughly themselves. I have not experienced any leaking or lack of suction issues some have however here are some pros and cons:

    Pros
    * Price - personally I think it is worth it at this price compare
    * Performance - it reviews well against other extractors and cleans thoroughly. For best scrub beforehand and/or soak and then scrub using the head bristles to agitate the dirt prior to extraction
    * Easy to clean and refill up

    Cons
    * Noise - it is okay on the footwells of the car but any hard, offset surface or closed environ it will sound like a jet at an air show next to your ear - ear protection recommended
    * Hose length - too short and needs to be another half times longer. I find myself juggling the main unit around the car several times just to get the head in the right area

Factor in pricing. It comes with some shampoo and I recommend the highly rated Bissell 2X that seems to work better, dry faster and smell nicer than the other brands (I also use it with a Vax unit I use for home carpets).

    • A well worded and accurate review from my own experience @BlueGlowOne.
      Kudos.

    • What unit do you use for home carpets?

I use the Vax Compact Carpet Washer model VX97. The introduction price was $160 or so (on my mobile and hard to check OzB history) however it has gone up when not on sale north of $200 now. I managed to get it around the lower price via Billy Guyatts having a damaged carton sale (there wasn’t any noticeable when delivered) discounted price a couple of months ago.

The bristles are very aggressive compared to the rentals found at Bunnings, Woolies, etc so care must be taken on carpet that it does not kick up too much. If the carpet is of a type that does, it will clump up the front end and need to be pulled out (you can use fingers to pull pout and only takes half a minute).

The advantage compared to the rentals is in the name; very compact and easy to store especially if you live in a studio, townhouse or apartment. If I had a larger budget and premises I would of gone for the larger Bissell models.

Got the good guys version. We're both massive fans. Used it to detail 2 messy cars before sale. Cleaned dog vomit 10-20 spots. Fabric kids seat, dog bed…. all sorts - spotless! Hose length is absolutely a problem, but it'll be by design (motor power, vacuum etc). Bought a heap of chemicals on special, discounted gift cards etc. For the price, excellent buy.

Sorry for being a noob, i know cleaning 9 bedrooms with this is too much, what about 1 bedroom?

    • +9

It will take 1/9th of the time

    • +2

      No.

The head of the vac is about 10cm across. To properly clean the carpet of a single bedroom with this I would imagine would take several hours.

This is intended for cars, small furniture, spills. And it does these well.

I love mine, but the thought of trying to even do all of a single bedroom is frightening.

    • I think you're better off buying/hiring something for carpet (not spot-cleaning). It'd be like mowing a large lawn with a whipper snipper

  • This good enough to clean off those fabric seat stains in a car?

    • Check out YouTube channel ChrisFixIt - one of his most popular videos ‘How to super clean the interior of your car’ provides a nice starting point. The prep work is just as important than the extraction ie using a brush to agitate beforehand or during, a handheld steamer like the inexpensive ones at Kmart to remove gum and other sticky materials and ‘soapy wooder’.

Other users and I have found that once you get the technique after day the first chair down e.g angle of the endpoint to surface, slowly dragging, ensuring the head is clean of debris, etc it will really show on the second go.

A good indicator that you are doing it right, especially enough agitation, is the amount of hard particles in the waste container. On the first attempt of detailing my car I extracted a bucket full of grimy, dark water with lots of sand and dirt and this was with seats that on the surface only looked lightly dirty - it just had never been steam cleaned only vacuumed prior.

  • Great for when he spews or drags his bum on the carpet. Also for when dogs do this…😜

I was considering buying this, I then realised it's 4x the cost of renting a professional cleaner from Bunnings. So approximately 20 years of carpet cleaning at my current rate.

    • +3

It serves a very different purpose.

This will never replace a big rental vac.

  • I work at sca, I see many people buy it and say it's a really good product

  • Dumb question, but what's the difference between this and a bucket of warm soapy water, drill brush followed by a wet vac to suck?

    • +2

      Convenience.

      • Thanks! I had a wet vac already and recently bought a clear flat nozzle for it from AliExpress. Makes it easy to see the dirty water being sucked out.

Drill brush from eBay to agitate the soapy water

        • I am also leaning towards this setup. What convenience when I have to do the pre clean prep work anyway. Two more things to do will not throw me off course. What wet vac do you use and how well does it perform? How wet is the surface after wet vaccing it?

          • @tik tok: I use Ryobi one from Bunnings. It's left damp, not very wet at all. I tend to do these things on sunny days so the sun finishes the drying off fairly quickly.

If in a car, ie car seats, just leave the windows cracked and park in the sun, the interior will warm sufficiently to dry it all out in a day or two.

        • What's a drill brush? :)

        • +1

excellent suggestion, I've found drill brush items on amazon competitive priced and next day delivery too (quicker than Ali & eBay vendors).

        • Could you please share the link of the flat nozzle that you purchased. I am after something similar. TIA

Hrm, go this or wait for the bigger one to be $299 again?

    https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/bissell-bissell-spotclea…

Does this one do everything you need as far as cleaning your car, or is it worth stepping up to the turbo one?

    • Wondering the same.

Can anyone comment on experienced differences?

I would mainly be looking at cleaning an 8 seater van, 5 seat sedan and some stair carpet in the house.

From reading the comments the smaller one would do the job and is available on sale now. Which is a critical difference to the larger one and waiting for that price to come down…..hhhhmmm

      • We bought the bigger one off ebay (thru supercheap) about two weeks ago and love it. It IS noisy, and the hose is still short, etc, but it works well, and we are still working out the best technique and detergent and presoaking etc. I think maybe this model (the more exxy one) has more attachments than the little one for sale in this deal, and possibly a more powerful motor and bigger storage tanks, but not completely sure either. Someone else can confirm?

    • I purchased the larger spot clean turbo via the supercheap eBay store for $278.99 during the last special. I used it on the home lounge and it worked pretty good. The hose could be longer as I find you have to pick up the unit a lot to get to the spots you need clean. Happy with it for the price paid but I don't think it's worth the full retail price.

      • Yeah the full retail seems quite high. Under $300 appears to be good value. Will get my hands on one and endeavour to post a review.

  • Whats the diff between this, the turbo and turbo pro?

  • +1
    • Not the same model. Go to specsavers!

  • Would this be effective at treating a water stain? See my reddit thread here:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/CleaningTips/comments/ttgzm4/how_to…

I tried an upholstery cleaner as well as water, but both didn't seem to work.

  • Is it too small to use on couches?

    • +1

Depends on the size of your couch. Could still work, just would take a while.

  • +1

Cashback rejected. Shopback is so shit.

  • They released a new model with a longer hose months ago, how are people still receiving the old model?

    • How do you tell which model? Do you have any model numbers to check?

      • Not at the moment, might be luck of the draw, just ordered one but I'm guessing I'll get the old model as most people have been getting.

      • One I picked up has a 2.2m hose, I believe they are all like that now
