Philips Steam Iron GC9240 - $267 after $100 Cashback - RRP $599

40

I was looking for a steam generator Iron and it was between the Philips GC9240 and the Tefal. Both RRP around $599 (streat pricing around $400).

Found out Billy Guyatts has this discounted to $367 in store or online (+ only $6.95 delivery to most metro areas). Add $100 cashback and you get it for $267. Even GoodGuys wouldn't price match the $367 price!

  • must get the missus one for her birthday , shes been doing a bad job recently on my shirts.

    • I don't think the iron is the problem.

  • Is this just for ironing your clothes?

    $267? $599 RRP?? Seriously???

    • People have different needs. This is still nothing compared to the Laura Starr iron boards, etc.

    • Craploads of steam without having to refill the iron every 10 minutes..

      I do mean craploads.

I've got the Tefal equivalent but these are good too.

This is an amazing price for that kit.

Annoyingly in Philips and Tefal, when I was buying, only the top of the line model had Auto off. Mandatory in our house. :(

  • yeah your right , its probably just her doing a bad job, i must say it to her.

  • There seem to be a lot of specials on steam generator irons at the moment.

We picked up the lowest end model Philips at Kmart for $99 the other day.

    • Same here, i picked up one from KMART for $99 about 2 weeks ago and its amazing when you use these.

  • Homemaker branded steam iron in Kmart is selling for $49. Not sure about the quality though.

    • No comparison.

      • Do elaborate

        • Steam my friend. It's all about the steam.

        • Mate, you're not really adding anything by saying steam. It is a given feature in both your Philips one and the Homemaker one.

I am happy to be convinced if you can give actual figures in terms of the steam throughput comparison, otherwise this is a plain sales pitch.

It's not that hard to view a product info page to get an understanding of the features you get over a regular steam iron. You started the comparison, so YOU educate yourself on the differences.

        • Never seen a responsible sales rep (assuming you are one) when asked by a potential customer how well his/her own product stacks up to others would only say "I know my product is more superior but don't ask me how much more superior".

Besides, it was not me who emphasised "steam". I've told you the price difference which is what I care about, now YOU tell us the steam difference.

        • A) I'm not a sales rep and you are not my customer
          B) You came in hear posting about some $49 iron which is not even the same category/league as steam generator irons. Your post had no purpose as you didn't understand the merits of the product here, instead posting some random $49 iron with no details.
and C) you seem to lazy to read a product description for yourself.

One doesn't go into a Ferrari forum and say you state you can buy a Hyundai for $1000.
