Saw the price for the original XL pixel.
Great price for unlimited cloud photo storage!

Thought I'd post this deal, the 3xl seems to be good value compared to other models at Kogan.
No unlimited photo storage, but still a great phone to use in 2022. Who needs security updates!

  • You still do get unlimited storage but just not at highest quality but that should be okay for most people

    • Afaik they are resized to 16mp. So for many phone shooters, it's fine!

      • Agreed, you could probably print from 16mp and not notice the compression.

        • I'm quite a fan of the camera software!!!

    • Until you zoom in or crop anything. Quality drops substantially from that point.
But yeah, it works ok for more people who don't need to do this.

I've had a 3XL for years now, and still love it more than my in-laws !!

    • Same but 2XL. Yes, it probably scales.

Battery life of my 3XL is the worst after +/- 2y. Fully charged in the morning, and almost depleted by 1-2pm with no phone calls.
Last weekend I even put it in super battery saver mode in the morning, and by 6pm I had 30% left and I only sent 2 sms messages (and got 2 responses) and +/-5 QR check-ins via service victoria app (with temporary unpause of super battery saver mode).

      • At that point, is it still a phone? It's a terrible waste of materials

      • I got mine late 2018, when it released. No problems — but I am running custom firmware.

        • Mine is from late 2019.
Which FW is that? And do you then still have the free HQ picture upload with Google?

@johnmelb: I'm using Dirty Unicorns, but still on their Android 9 build. Their Android 10 build has stability issues + I generally have disliked the changes Google has made to base A10/11 (aesthetic, options, +killed some QoL apps without replacing them). Unfortunately it's difficult to get a hold of DU's A9 build unless you have it archived, as I did.

I would see if you can get a stripped down firmware, like Lineage on it. may help.

Yes I still have unlimited picture upload — though they recently bumped the quality down for everyone.
