      53rd*

And what’s the performance difference between 1st and 55th? 10%?

      • +3

You'd always rather have the worst 3080 than the best 3070, but when there's stock of multiple versions within the same model on the shelf, it can be helpful to have a way to try and sort through what's worth what

  • Anyone can play comment on the ASRock 6600? Thx

    • +1

ASRock are a low end brand… i paid $492 for the Asus dual 6600.. its great. Aus post express was quick at under 2 days delivery

      • +1

Thx. Will hodl for a better bargain

      • +1

Nonsense. The Challenger Pro and PG Phantom are the best RX 6600 XTs, period. Great 6700 XTs too. I'm sure the 6600 is fine. Isn't exactly high end silicon.

        • Disagree, the xfx qick is better. Runs cooler and quieter

          • @bex000: Link? I can't find any proof of that. The reviews for the ASRock show one of the coolest and quietest cards I've seen.

      • ASUS don't care about their AMD cards, they didn't even bother attaching the heatsinks to their 5700 and 5700XT models. Brands that only make AMD like Powercolor, Sapphire, XFX, Asrock are going to be better than ASUS (I would rate Asrock the lowest of those 4 though).

  • One thing that still stopping me from buying this is the 2 * 8 pins. Wish it’s 3 * 8 pins so that there is no power throttle

    • +1

I see quite a few of the 3080 12g's have just 2 x 8 pins, including the TUF and Vision. Are they limited by this too?

      • +1

It's not really a concern, 2x8 pin is already 375w and even at the stock 350w limit the 3080 is being pushed beyond optimal efficiency. Unless either of you planed on extreme cooling and overclocking, 2x8 pin will be more than enough for a 3080, in fact many owners, including myself, would recommend undervaluing for best performance, power consumption and thermals.

  • +3

Even at these prices these gpus aren't running off the shelf.

    • If these were the top tier brands it would be a different story i think

    • I don't think stock is live. You can add 10,000 to your cart. As someone mentioned below, they may have oversold them.

    • thank god

  • Where's non-LHR

    • +11

      Reporting for duty!

      • What's your take in the upcoming gpu prices ?

        • +3

          Buy high sell low

        • +2

          3060Ti $599
          3070Ti $899
          3080 10gb $1099
          3080 12gb $1299

Will hover around that until 40xx series comes out.

  • +2

    Fair price. Buying now..

  • +1

Temping, should I wait for next gen 4000 series ?

    • +1

      Why not, not far away…

    • +2

Once 4000 series out, 3000 will drop further for sure!

      • +3

Correct, then people will buy 3000 and sell their 1000/2000 on eBay. After my friend got them from eBay, he will replace his old 750 Ti, which I can install on my PC.

    • +2

3 to 4 months goes quick

      • Big assumption that next gen will be available for easy purchase within the first few months.

    • +2

and eth2.0 is coming mid this year… miner will start dumping this or at least they wont ape this gpu like before. for me i would just wait..

      • +4

You sure about that bud? Or you just regurgitating what others say that isn't completely true like "liberals are good economic leaders"

        • hahahahah LNP lol.

      • +3

and eth2.0 is coming mid this year

The Ethereum Consensus Layer isn't coming any time soon. It has been 4Y and nothing meaningful has happened. It'll take another 4Y before they can get it done properly.

miner will start dumping this or at least they wont ape this gpu like before.

Mining will continue with the hash power going to a different coin.

      • +2

they've said eth 2.0 is coming out for ages mate

    • -3

At this point definitely. That thing is a BEAST. Even if it means spending on a psu. Almost 2x powerful. It will make 3xxx look like garbage. And you would need a new psu mostly for 4090 only if you have a 750 watts gold already.

      • +1

        You're confident a quality 750W will cover the non-Ti 4080? I'm hoping so!

        • +2

Depends on the rest of your system. If you have a OCed 12900K, then no. If you have a 5600X/5800X or a 12600K or planning to buy an 8 core Zen 4 6800X CPU. 750 should be alright. If not, you can still slightly undervolt the card and get it to run. I am not upgrading my PSU. Also AMD cards are more efficient. If they have better RT performance, I will jump ship.

          • -1

@John Doh: I can tell you 10400F on 3080 with 750w can be unstable. Imagine on 4080 lol.

Get 1000w platinum for 4080 just to be safe.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: Let the time come, if 750 wont suffice, 1000 it is.

              • @John Doh: Did you neg?

                • +1

@[Deactivated]: lol no, i have in the past for a few posts of yours where you insist on mining, but not otherwise.

  • Any reason why the 6800xt is more expensive than the 6900xt almost everywhere?

    • +2

Maybe better power usage for only a few% diff in performance… So possibly popular with mining still.. Whereas 6900xt will be more popular to gamers…

  • -4

MSRP 2 years ago was $1129…. HODL!!!

    • +4

      Not for 12gb model
      It didn’t exist then

  • If this wasn't Galax I'd of purchased I think

    • +5

      I’d have*

      • -6

        haha, being a dik

  • +2

Fwiw I just spoke to BPC on the phone and they were expecting stock yesterday but should be arriving on Monday for the Galax cards.

    • +3

with them still showing stock even now, I am concerned they have oversold these and a lot will be on back order, time will tell

    • Just got a call that they arrived in stock today.

  • 👍

  • +1
  • -4

If BPC tech are having good prices now, then you know the market is crashing.

They have been selling at inflated prices since the start,
    the OG scalpers!

    Hmm….

    • +1

You literally described every electronics shop that stocks GPUs.

      • +1

Over the last years, sure. But most of the regular retailers PCCG, PLE etc stuck to pretty normal prices for the first month or two (albeit largely OOS)
BPC was the first store I noticed that came up regularly that was selling direct to customers at scalper prices

Just my opinion and perhaps indicative of what's to come :)

        • Yes BPC were exposed scalping, with reports on forums showing screenshots of interactions with them on FB marketplace etc.

  • just realized this is 12 gb version, so tempting now, but really want to buy a at least mid tier brand if I am going to spending 1.2k. had a galaxy 2060 super, just want to experience a more premium brand. Are we expecting other brands to drop the price to this low as well?

  • +2

might have to order one and get my parents to send it to me in Japan. roughly $1800AUD still over here.

  • Damn you ozBargain! I bought the Gigabyte Eagle OC RTX 3080 10GB with AfterPay sale for $1089 and still waiting for arrival. Just purchased this 12GB version instead and will be returning the Eagle OC!

  • My AMD R9 280 died. I have a ASRock B360M-Pro4 mobo. What is a good replacement? I only play quake live but I was planning on trying out quake champions soon. I don't need anything super powerful but I do want to get good fps when playing it.

    • Off topic, but my R9 290X strangely recently died as well, or so i thought. I uninstalled the adrenaline driver (with DDU) and it seemed to revive it to display video via default windows drivers but I can't game with it.

  • -3

Time to stop your HODL, and buy buy buy the 3080

  • +2

It may be Galax brand, but this is a 12GB model, so it's a very good deal now. Well done, BPC Tech.
Other resellers should follow this example rather than still holding onto their greedy high asking prices.

    • 12GB performs closely to 3080 Ti. so this is a good price considering cheapest 3080 Ti was $1700 and it was ventus.

  • +1

This is why people should hodl and stop clearing them out of stock. Prices will drop faster

  • hmm never heard of galax though, is it as good as asus and gigabyte for GFX cards?

    • its probably on the same level as Zotac

    • the 4th clip on fan helps with reducing temp, but needs to be vertically mounted as it can bumps your ddr, depending on your mobo and ram.

  • GPU crashing

    • Well undervolt it then…

  • How's the mining profitability of 12Gb compared to 10Gb?

    • Just checked nicehash and it currently shows the 3080 10G LHR is more profitable over the 12G.
It might not be correct being a newer card or maybe not optimised yet.
      https://www.nicehash.com/profitability-calculator

    • +1

It's good - there was a post a while back indicating 88MH. Performance is actually in between a 10GB 3080 and a 12GB 3080 ti (yes.. TEE EYE)

      So it's very decent.

      • No, 12GB is crackpot for ETHash, its around 61-63mhs, 10GB is 75/mhs.

But 12gb can be a beast on dual mining alt coins that's not affected by LHR.

        • +1

Actually it was you who posted that ! You mentioned 88mh on a 12gb card here but looks like you removed it later (according to revisions)

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/677143

          • @[Deactivated]: Damn, it was $850 more just 2 months ago. felt like lifetime ago.

Mining is not popular topic here. see all those negs.

            • +2

@[Deactivated]: Yeah - time to stock up. ETH getting betttterrrrr.

  • Hard pass ! Not a big fan of Galax

  • -1

HODL 4000 series, intel cards, RDNA2…. all launching this year…. only rookies buy now

  • +1

    Price up to 1399 now

  • +4

Stock arrived today, just picked up my card in store, after calling to confirm…
NB: you you do the collect in store option, they dont seem to charge the credit card surcharge!!.

  • +1

Unreal. Called twice last week to ensure they will have stock and it will be posted by Monday (Yesterday). Assured me that yes they have plenty of stock coming. Called today and surprise surprise, oops they didn't get enough stock from yesterday's shipment - yet I can see that people have been picking them up from the local store. DON'T SELL WHAT YOU DON'T HAVE and don't give excuses for bad practices you are well aware of.

    • Did you purchase one last week Darkzer0?

      • That's right, purchased on Saturday for $1249, but I called them prior to that to ensure they really do have stock and was assured they will have it posted yesterday. Just annoying, since I've been through this same drama at launch, and I literally return posted the 3080 Eagle OC today too aghhh.

    • Hi Darkzer0,

Can you send the order number through? I will look into it now.

      Cheers,
      BPC Team

      • Thanks for replying, but I just spoke to one of your sales guys and they told me next shipment is coming next Monday. I will PM you my order number anyway to see if you can help.

      • No follow-up. No email notification. No call. Nothing. This outreach by BPCT rep is just PR to appear like they care for their customers. I called them again and have been advised my order will be shipped by no later than Monday next week. If not, I will be submitting an ACCC complaint. I suggest others do the same if they don't receive theirs. Stay away from this business.

    • I ordered Sunday and was told yesterday they were waiting for more stock to arrive this week and they would 'try' to fulfill the order then. Must say I'm not feeling any confidence getting it soon. )-;

      • Fwiw I also ordered Saturday AM and politely checked in with them a few times over phone since. The second batch arrived yesterday and they let me know via phone and now mine is in the post. I’m not a fan of the “low stock” when there was no stock situation either. I believe they were told the supplier would be sending all cards at once to them (and were due fri last week) but this didn’t eventuate and they ended up going and picking up the remaining cards yesterday themselves. At least that’s what they told me.

        • Mine was also shipped yesterday. Next time BPC should wait for stock to arrive before launching a sale, and update their site when there is no more stock available. Anything else is misleading.

    • Agree 100%. I too ordered one on Saturday and patiently wait for the order update but no communication from BPC. Had to email them to ask about my order status just to be told that stock hasn't arrived, and that the next batch may be coming later in the week, but no ETA. Terrible practice to sell something that they don't have stock for, and no ETA either…

      • Not only a terrible practice, it borders on illegal bait advertising. Even now their website shows 'low stock hurry!'. Low stock and back order are not that same thing BPC.

        • I didn't notice that they still have "Low stock Hurry!" with a price increase on their website, while telling customers they cannot fulfil paid-for orders due to no stock. I've taken screenshots and think this might need to be reported to ACCC. Would ask for a refund, but then I will miss out on a good 3080 deal again as I returned the Eagle OC 3080 in place for this 12GB one. Shame on you BPC Tech.

Despite a bit of a wait and some dissatisfaction, I received the card today and have tested it. Runs everything butter smooth, and is cool and quiet - as expected thanks to 4 fans. It is a very large card and I had to angle grind the heatsink metal brackets surrounding 2 of my ram modules for it to fit in my main PCIe slot.
