How Much Do You All Think a BenQ XL2720Z (December 2014 Model) Is Worth?

Hi All,

It is me again from the "Advice on Selling My February 2015 Built Gaming PC?" https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/690510

My BenQ XL2720Z has been sitting in my cupboard and gathering dust the last 2 years as I replaced it with a cheaper and better ViewSonic VX3258-PC-MHD which was $229 on special at Mwave.

The Viewsonic is a 32" 1800R Curved 1080p Gaming Monitor, 165hz refresh rate, 1ms MPRT response time which I have been using and so far been happy with it considering the price I bought it for as it is not the best monitor but price vs spec ratio then it is well worth it imo.

The BenQ is a tad bit smaller and the viewing angle isn't as good as the darkness of the monitor would change depending on the viewing angle or height I was looking and that would annoy me considering I spent $599 on the BenQ back in Feb 2015 as that was the price at the time…

Now 7 years later just like my Gaming PC, was wondering what I should do with the BenQ XL2720Z and would people still be interested in old monitor technology like that or is it better just to e-waste it or shall I just give it away to the Salvation Army? Vinnies or something for them to make money on it??

I think BenQ is now called or owned by Zowie so the monitor seems obsolete but was pretty decent and pricey for the time… There are cheaper and way better monitors these days but just to throw away a piece of decent tech doesn't sit right with me, especially a monitor that is 27" 144hz 1ms HDMI Full HD 1080p Gaming Monitor with a 1ms GTG Response Time..

Some more advice would be appreciated? :)

Cheers!!

It's worth whatever people are willing to pay for it. Doesn't really matter what we suggest.

Stick it on marketplace platforms for a reasonable amount and see if you get any offers.

I wouldn't know what a reasonable amount would be tbh..

Hence why I am asking the computing/tech community to get a better idea :)

There is a response under yours stating that a similar model is often posted for around $220 on OzBargain.

I find it baffling people need to post and ask about pretty old hardware, it's simple as putting it up with a price and if it doesn't sell, price it cheaper 🤷 it's not rocket science is it lol

      • Yeah but like the response below, phunkydude says that the "spec close to aoc 27g2 which often posted here for $220"

Just wanting to get an idea as someone may have experience or would have a better understanding.

Considering I am an old person with old tech, I am asking for assistance?

I guess I could do what you have advised but unsure why someone like myself asking for help is baffling?

spec close to aoc 27g2 which often posted here for $220

but your benq is tn rather than ips , so maybe 100 or less thereabouts

would have fetch more have you had it on sell during covid wfh period madness

    • I think this was one of the first 27" 144hz 1ms monitors at the time and was one of the esports monitors too so when I built my rig in 2015, I also ended up buying this monitor as well.

Appreciate the information in regards to how much it could potentially sell for and what it is similar too.

The reason why I am asking the community is because like yourself, people may have seen or know more than I do in regards to what it can go for or maybe if someone is interested in wanting it for themselves.

I could have but I am not really too fussed in getting top dollar for old technology, just happy for it to go to another persons hands to use as it still works and is still a decent piece of tech even though it is 7-8 years old now lol…

      Cheers for the response :)

Think you just answered your own question..

Similar era Asus/Acer/LG seem to go for around $70 - $100 on Gumtree though.

    • Cheers mate!!

Just wanted to get a rough idea since others or a person like yourself may have been recently looking at second hand monitors and roughly know the prices.

      Thank you for the response!!

    7+ Year old 27” monitor… $229 new for 32”…

    Hmm… $3.50?

    • Yep, so no point in selling it then so I should just dump a piece of tech in e-waste even though it still works and has alright specs lol?

Deal post: BenQ XL2720Z $3.50 Delivered @ Sin Han

  • Have classifieds and forums been merged?

    • No idea mate, I am new to this :|

MSPaint person said I should of put it in the other post but if someone read what I wrote, I think the Monitor question may have been lost in that life story I wrote..

So is there a way to merge forums?

    • .#pricecheck

      • Third Time Lucky?

        what was it about LOL

        • Just inspired by Levitys' first two attempts to dox and tread on protected areas.. contemplated offering up some spare Amazon GC to make up for the loss..

      • When I did do a price check it shows $535.10 from devicedeal.com.au but currently out of stock and no pre ordering available hahahah…

As you and others have said, what ever the market wants to pay so I guess skies the limit like those gumtree ads with those expensive 7 year old gaming rigs lol :P

At least I have learnt something today, I can charge what ever I want and just hope someone silly buys it just like that FB Marketplace OzBargain link that people have shown me :P

        • lol… not knocking
Just don't think there's a sub section in the classifieds for price check.

          • @randomusername2017: I just googled and searched around for a price check but nothing comes up besides that old link from that website lol..

Thought I might get lucky if someone wanted the monitor but I think I should stop trying to offload my old crap which is not worth it to most people xD

I realised after that I had my old monitor in the cupboard after asking for some tips in regards to my Gaming PC.

It's what happens when you put things away in storage you forget about it and other things sort of trigger the memory and go hang on, got the monitor too :P..

          • @randomusername2017: I know in the other forum I said I stay clear but I have this new found confidence thanks to you and many others.

I may just start putting ads on gumtree with ridiculous prices just for fun :P..

            • @Sin Han: Tbh.. best bet would be to package the monitor with the PC, just list it as *bonus 27" gaming monitor…also if going with Gumtree grab a $10 3 pack of no name rgb fans for gallery listing ;)

  • +1

Put it up on FBM/GT/eBay for whatever price you're willing to accept. If someone buys it, great. If not, you keep or throw it away.

I'm not familiar with gaming monitors but a new AOC or Samsung-equivalent can be had for under $250. They also use better-looking VA/IPS panel and Freesync tech. Unless your BenQ has something really special that sets it apart, $100 is probably your realistic max.

    • Appreciate the feedback man.

I may just give it away to the Salvo's or Vinnies for them to make profit out of it!!

Doubt 7-8 years later that it will have something special, maybe for the time lol… As we know, Technology advances quick, cheaper and better monitors, hence why I upgraded for a few hundred bucks lol
