  • Had a look at the photo and thought they were the "tick" variety

Jumbo freshly caught King Prawns are $25/kg (sometimes $20) at the Fisherman's Co-Op on Seaworld drive.

    • Are they Wild Jumbo U10 size (around 20-22 prawns per kilogram)?

  • +1

The current A grade Male mud crab price in Asian seafood shop is around $40-55 / kg.

    • -3

I assure you those are C grade(Fish shop grade) which was $38/kg last deal

      • +1

        No, that's A grade. C grade price is $29

        • -6

You can post it as a deal on Ozbargain then

I'm intrigued. Could you please educated me on these grades? What's different? What are they graded on?

I'm keen to try one of these crabs!

  • +1

Anyone can explain the grading? AA grade is good? Is there AAA grade?

    • +1

A grade for me was less muddy/watery and more meat, not missing any legs or injuries
‘A’ Grade - No flex with firm pressure (~6kg) or slight flex on
      only one middle segment
‘B’ Grade – Slight flex with moderate pressure (~4kg) on
both middle segments, more flex on outer segments
‘C’ Grade – Easily flexed (~2kg) with minimal pressure on all
segments. Excessively soft on most segments are out of
grade and should be returned to the water.

      • Sorry, should of been more specific. I was referring to the Sashimi. They labelled them as AA grade.

        • +2

The grade is a rating sellers use to market their fish, but it is not based on any official standard or criteria. It can however indicate the freshness of the fish and means it can be eaten raw. There is no real difference between the terms 'sushi grade' and 'sashimi grade', and the two are often used interchangeably.

  • Sydney only.

  • How many slices are 100gr for Otoro?

    • About 6 they sashimi usually 17g each

  • LOL about the grades. A normal consumer wouldn't have a clue.

If you paid for A grade and they gave you C grade I doubt you can tell.

    • I have had both and there was way less water and mud taste coming out of the crab and it had all its legs instead of 3-4 missing

    • after watching the grading video it seems pretty simple for anyone to do their own tests

  • This post is making me hungry.

  • Hi OP, how do you get half price mud crabs?

    • From Fishme, they are usually $100+ at the fish market for A grade

      • +1

oh ok, the website says normal price is $76 so I thought you got yours for $38

        https://fishme.com.au/collections/weekly-specials/products/l…

        • Yes last time C grade was $38

      • how do you normally cook ur mud crabs? Cantonese style?

        • Just steam a fresh mud crab, chefs kiss.

Otherwise the classic ginger and spring onion stir fry is good.

        • +1

          Singapore chilli crab

      • +3

        Getting ripped off then.
It has gone up in price recently but even then A grade is normally around 60 bucks.

        • Yes that is the price at my local in Northern Beaches

        • Where?

          • @Homr: Harris Farm

is Otoro tuna worth it? I tried the toro one but to me it wasn't worth the extra compared to normal tuna

FishMe - real world customer feedback, the website UX for this deal sucks. Suggest testing with Shopify options because surely future deals can be made more streamlined than this

You click the bonus tuna link to add the correct portions to the order, then apply the matching code at checkout that zero costs the portions. However, you only know the correct amount of portions to order and correct code once you have completed shopping for everything else.

On top of this, first time customers get $10 off but the code doesn't stack with the bonus code

    • Refer family to get $20 off?
I don't believe UX is a valid reason to downvote

  • ordered from this mob and delivery came at 5 pm with ice with dude driving a normal car without cooling system. Icepack inside already melted, driver reason - car broke down, even though on the sms notification at 2 pm, it stated driver will arrive within 1 hour.
bad customer service…, called head office and no answer.

    • +61 2 8999 1118 is the number

    • The car broke down, lol. I have received the exact reason from the driver. The driver is using a ute to deliver my order…

  • Marty!

    • Unrelated

      • How do you know it's not Marty the pet mud crab?

    What happened to op lol

    • +3

He turned into a C grade mud crab

    • Sleeping with the fishes.

And levity deleted his account? Damn. OzBargain bullying him too much.

    • -3

Wow, you're right. OzBargain bullied his into deleting his account.

  • Just saw all these comments after posting another deal tonight. Not sure why my name is being mentioned here or why the disableduser was bullied into deleting his account, but he must have been a customer of ours to have all the deals from one of our recent EDMs. Probably trying to get referral bonus through OzBargain which I don't see the problem with if the system allows it. But anyway, I just wanted to clarify a few things for those who are wondering:
    1. All our vehicles are 0-4 degree refrigerated vans with FishMe branding. Sometimes when we are too busy we use standard air-conditioned vehicles but they leave the warehouse late and deliver within a few hours, and our Australian-made insulated packaging (Chilltainers) is more than enough to keep orders at the right temperature.
    2. We haven't had any vehicles break down on the road, but we did have a tyre issue on Monday this week. If any driver tells you their vehicle broke down I would appreciate a PM with driver name/rego or your order number so we can address the issue
    3. We haven't delivered in a ute since Christmas when we rented several refrigerated utes so again if drivers are switching vehicles en-route I would love to know some more details
Finally I want to thank @highmargin for his feedback on the website user experience. We'd rather focus on getting the best products at the best prices than deal with Shopify limitations and development so I've just turned off the deal instead. He is very knowledgeable and in addition to being experienced in web design, social media and Shopify it seems he is also a detective (but not a very good one if he thinks FishMe is a side hustle).

  • Thanks for the back handed compliment JackHinta. If an online business can't be bothered with dealing with their own eCommerce platform, that is a side hustle. Reading the newest Google reviews on FishMe and seeing the customer photos does not inspire confidence. Good luck with the business
