  • Can you please give the specs? Like does the screen run on batteries or does the camera run on batteries, and how to connect, etc, etc.

"Other excellent features include an additional Video IN for other video devices such as a car DVD player, GPS navigator, as well as built-in loud speakers for the perfect media experience in your car. You definitely won't be complaining when stuck in traffic - just load up your favorite movie!"

A neg worthy comment there… Promoting unsafe driving…

Maybe you can watch funny you tube cat videos so you don't get frustrated whilst stuck in traffic.
This would prevent road rage and thus it's actually promoting safe driving….so nyeh!

    • This isn't necessarily unsafe in every driving situation, and while illegal in at least Victoria, it is not illegal to watch video while driving in other countries.

Not sure it's the best price, but it's certainly a good price. If I weren't short on cash, I'd probably buy one and investigate plugging my phone into it.

  • I wonder can the wiring be extended to go behind a caravan?

  • What a ridiculously small screen. How are we supposed to get a "clear view" on that without driving off the road?

    • It's a reverse camera. I doubt ppl will really use it for gps.

        Hi Syl
On wed we are releasing our new GPS/Rear view mirror/Reversing cam
It is very similar looking unit however the portion for the reverse camera doubles as a gps unit.
It is a 3 in 1 unit. It took us some time to source this unit because the majority of the ones on the market aren't map compatible, so they have a GPS yes, but not for Australia, in that they run what is called route 22 instead of the standard Tom Tom and it normally has quite a few problems pulling up the right maps etc. Sorry to bamboozle you, put in short I would not recommend using this unit as a GPS plug in. So much so that we will edit this out of fine print, so thanks for the feedback
        Warm regards

    • It would be enough for me to see if my 2 yr old suddenly gets in the way while I'm reversing. I think it's worth it for that price. I saw Aldi selling one for $99 if I remember right.

Would the cable be long enough though to run along the pillars? Dangling lines would be distracting.

In short this unit does not run of batteries. Both the camera and the clip on monitor come with av cables and power cables. You attach the camera to the underside of the number plate indentation with the included screws. You then feed the av wires through the boot under the upholstery/carpet etc and onto the dashboard, here you connect the av cable to the monitor. The monitor then has its own power cable that follows the same line under the seats back into the boot. Here it has a retro clip that allows you to clip onto the reveres light power cable in the lighting housing. This in short activates the camera whenever you put your vehicle into reverse and also provides power to the monitor. It comes with a very detailed user manual. Some of the earlier models included the reverse camera/s that need to be hole sawed into the rear panel. This is obviously risky in that one mistake is very hard to fix. This unit comes with a set rear view camera that has two winged brackets so it can be easily fitted above the license plate holder. This is a simple description of how to install it. We have many clients that have DIY this unit, but it really depends on the level of knowledge each person has. Saying this the user manual is 12 pages long and is very detailed and user friendly. When the car isn't in reverse the entire unit acts like an over sized standard rear view mirror.
    Hope this helps
    Kind regards

  • Hi Hooray, extending the cabling is not a major issue, you would only need an extension on the av/power cable cords. The installation for a caravan is on the last section within the manual, titled Installation for trucks and mobile homes.
    Kind regards.

How about providing a link to a copy of the manual?

  • +2

We are in the process of doing exactly that with the entire 55 products to make it easier for customers, at present it is all in hard format, so over the next few days you will notice a link at the bottom of each deals stating "USER MANUAL" with a click-able link.
    Kind regards

You obviously don't do much commuting on the eastern/south eastern or ring roads then ;-)

Man, that website gave me a headache! Shocking pink!

  • +1 for the website design! Absolutely stunning! AAARGH!

  • Ebay is cheaper.

  • I use a similiar rearview camera on my dualcab 4x4. They are great to ensure there is no-one/nothing behind you when reversing, and also to allow you to get close to walls/cars/poles etc when reverse parking.
