    good price

    • +2

with some room for improvement to boot - things are looking up down under.

      • +1

You mean to say it's a bargain, and it's in Oz?

      • Seems like we may have the cheapest GPUs on the planet at the moment, even though we normally like to complain that PC parts are more expensive here

  • +2

Wow. $230 price drop in under a month and at the exact same store, no less.

I can't decide if you'd be bonkers or sane to get any card right now with prices falling this much!

    • for the people that have been hodling on their 7x0/9x0 cards I think that this is a great time to get in - no matter if they keep going down.

      • +6

970 here for me. It works for me currently, and outside of maybe getting a super cheap 3060 to fill a small gap, the combination of Intel ark/4000 nvidia and a new am5 CPU around October is looking to be sweet spot. This is mostly as I need an entirely new computer and am5 will allow good upgrade paths down the track.

        • +1

custom watercooled GTX970 and 3390k. I can wait a bit longer.

  • +2

damn gpu really are dropping like flies

    • +1

New GPU's out soon, clearing old stock.

      • since when did retailers have any stock?

        • +6

They’ve probably had the stock but just been wanting their scalper like prices for it

  • Dam am I’m bad with money or is it true I gave away $800 today. I can’t lie.

    • if you got a card today you should be able to contact the retailer and request a refund of the difference between what you paid and the now discounted item

  • These drops really tempting me to buy GPU for my 2nd pc, even though I don't need it at all

  • this is a brilliant price considering the best launch price for XC3 3070 (lower end EVGA card) was $949 with PLE.

Which makes this cheaper than EVGA/PLE launch pricing - the first ever I've seen!

    • +1

yes brilliant - almost rrp after 1.5 years :)

      • +1

actually this is below RRP now. But yes, for a 1.5 year old card, this is pretty crap that it took so long to reach RRP again.

  • +2

Rip buying the 3060 ti before prices fell, it really looked like prices wouldn't drop for a long time.

    • +4

nobody could've really predicted how hard they would fall - don't beat yourself up over it.

      • +4

I waited more than half a year with prices being ridiculous and just couldn't hold out anymore.

Had buyer's remorse as 3070 ti started dropping in price. Put it up for sale unopened recently and actually received some decent offers which would have resulted in a small loss.

But was too busy to go sell it, then prices fell and can't sell anymore. Oh well it really is enough for my uses and mining probably not worth it now too.

Good deals for people that held out! :)

        • +2

i did the same mate, be happy with what you got

    • Not sure when you bought it, but I bought mine for 1k at around Black Friday last year. It hurts a lot knowing that I could've built the same system for ~$500 less now, but I think having my PC for 5 months longer is worth it :)

And a 3060 Ti should hopefully be adequate for years to come (given that you don't need all your settings cranked).

      • +1

I bought it more recently when PLE had the EVGA ftw3 for $1099 plus shipping. But I only have 1 1440p monitor so I think it should be enough. Just wanted something more future proof and better, lol.

  • +1

I paid $1350 ish for this same card - ouch

    • +1

Thank you price protection. The true star of the gpu price wars.

    • Can you stack the codes at the checkout though, or is the afterpay one applied post the checkout page?

      • +1

can't stack, either 10% off with SHOPP code or 15% off with AFPYDY code, if you have a credit card with insurance benefits, price protection, better off paying the small extra & using that

  • Can't wait for the 6600XT to go back to the sub 300 mark at this rate

    • I'll jump in at ~$450 to tide me over to the end of the year; they were $580 when first released I thought? Or are you talking USD?

      • AUD. 450 AUD would not be too bad to jump in. 399 AUD would be my entry point.

  • +2

Launch price 2020 if I remember, we finally back bois

    • Better late than never…

  • +1

When they hit $500 I'll grab one. 😆

  • Now just hoping for an even cheaper prebuilt from either BPC or Tech Fast..

  • +1

The xx70's traditionally always fell into the 700-850 dollar price bracket depending on brand. It's getting close to what I would consider RRP now. At this stage I think I'll just wait for the next generation. the 30xx series is 2 years old now.

  • Good to see prices dropping, but it is still almost 1k for a 70 series GPU. HODL if you can!

  • +1

This is good! I paid about this much for my 3070 at launch.

  • +2

$970 for a mid tier card that's two years old is still crazy. I wonder how far they will fall

  • +2

IMO I'd pay $20 more for this - 3070 Ti

  • +1

Frames per $, the $780 3060Ti is still better than this right? Anyone out there got all the % differences floating around in their heads? My memory says it was about 15% @ 1440p

    • +1

I do 1440p with my 2060 as well with a bit of overclock. I mostly play strategy games on pc though. Even played cyberpunk 2077 on highest settings (RT turned off).

    • +1

3060 Ti -> 3070 Ti = about 25% difference at 4K (according to TechPowerUp GPU database)

  • Nice good to see prices settling down.
    My 2060: "Don't even think about it'…

I think it's right. Had no problems what so ever.

  • finally under the 999 I paid when they first came out!

  • I'm still on my 1060 3gb :-(

It would be more bareable if I bought the 6gb model for $35 more, five years ago.

It cost me $330, which is about the same as what they're going for now.
