Not quite 7% as you're spending $98 to get $105, which gets you to 6.67%.

Your maths is wrong.
Your denominator depends on your original amount spent ($100), and the numerator is total value. 107/100 = 1.07
Put another way, you spend $100, and get $7 back. 7/100 =7%
You're spending $98. You're getting $105.
You're not getting the $5 as extra cashback but rather as additional "credit."
If it was the case you were spending $93 to get a $100 gift card, I would understand your point. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the best in maths but here you are still spending $98 to get $105 - or perhaps we're just coming at this from different angles, where you see the additional $5 as not part of the purchase amount… which I guess you could do as the 2% is included in the initial amount, too, but I see that as cash coming back to you to use on whatever rather than as part of the purchase you've made.
(tl;dr $5 credit is part of the purchased product, the 2% cashback is your "change" from your $100 bill, so you're spending $98 to receive $105 of gift card balance, thereby making it a <7% discount.)

Simpler way: you want to use your $105 gift card balance on your shopping. You have $105 worth of items. You paid $98 for them. That's a 6.67% discount. Makes sense?

Yes it does. When you click into it, it states that you’ve achieved it but all rewards claimed.
