I guess this is good if you want to try the game before you buy, otherwise I wouldn't bother

    • +13

One weekend is all you need to realise you don't want to play any longer than that.

    • +1

Too bad it's selling at $99 still… Massive rip off in my opinion

  • +17

its kinda of a waste of bandwidth though… i prefer to use the download limits for something more educational, like man and women doing.. urm.. educational things.

      For science!

      • -3

        NEVER HEARD THAT ONE BEFROE

    • +19

Noticed that you used singular for male and plural for female, thumbs up!

      • +1

        Thumbs up? ;-)

    • +9

Urgh, let's not start this debate again. You don't see COD players spamming BF3 deals with 'COD FTW'.

      • +1

Got to love the divide between two games , Im a long time cod and bf player and now both games are trash and a small speck of what they used to be.
Then again the community and IQ of gamers has declined haha

        • +1

Yeah what the hell is wrong with the bf3 community now. Even in the hardcore modes you still have trouble getting people to actually do objectives. Had a team of three guys who just wanted to all be recon and lie on the hill near base while the map got swarmed…

      • +5

I think that is partly due to COD players knowing that MW3 really isn't that enjoyable.

        • LoL and BF3 is full of bugs , crashes and exploits?
The BF3 community is no better than cod
Pot calling the kettle black but oh derp Low IQ on de internets

      My bad.
      How about: SKYRIM FTW!

  • +2

Great, so my weekend of PC gaming is going to be infiltrated with aimbots and wallhacks.

I love how Steam do this though. Always give a free weekend, which is more of a reason any PC owner should have Steam. Your computer doesn't have to be 'AAA' to have it, but they have some cool freebies.

  • +2

It's the multiplayer only if anyone is wondering, I was going to just download it now and finish the SP over the weekend… But, nay.

  • +3

I like these deals, it's not a bad game though I don't feel desperate to play it that often so a free weekend occasionally enough for me. Then back to my hat simulator :)

  • +1

This is what we need the NBN for - 48 hour (playable) huge game downloads, facehook, youtool and pron!

For some reason I felt MW2 was better O_O

    • +1

I agree. I very much enjoyed MW2 and sunk a heck of a lot of time into the multiplayer with friends.

Couldn't get into MW3. I bought it (on Xbox) so that I could play if friends wanted to play. But alas, no one else likes it either.

    • +1

I'd agree. MW2 was a better game, though the multiplayer lobbies take forever lately and the players still on the servers are pretty die-hard and arrogant, so I hardly fire it up anymore.

  • +1

I know a bunch of MW veterans, even they saw no improvement in MW3…, joke was they went and tried BF3… LOL
Thanks OP, I wanted to try it since I've been an AAO & BF player for nearly 6+ years now…

  • +4

Not even worth the bandwidth. Certainly wasn't worth the 60-70 I paid for it on opening night.

Even black ops felt newer and better…

  • +1

download is going very slow at 100-250kb/sec (NSW Internode)

  • +1

Great for a fun weekend for some, gateway drug for others :)

  • +1

    Thank goodness for iiNet freezone!

    • Was just thinking the same for my Internode Unmetered Content! 14GB I don't have to worry about :D

I don't really think this is a bargain - its a trial, nothing more, nothing less. That's not to say the concept of these free weekends isn't a good one: it gives you the chance to play the game before you buy, etc - but all in all, there is no saving to be made; therefore, I don't think its a bargain. Steam usually has about 1 free weekend per month anyway, and, to my knowledge, they aren't usually classified as a deal.

    • +1

This is another one of those situations (like the Diablo 3 Open Beta) where it's not technically a deal, but is well worth being posted as one for the purpose of informing the OzBargain community. It is pretty clear that there is a lot of gamers that frequent this site and appreciate being told about things like this. So yeah in theory is should be a forum topic - but then hardly anyone would see it.

      • +1

I realise that people might like to see it, and, yes, informing the community is what this site is all about. But I still disagree that this should be listed as a bargain. If, say, the 33% off was included, then I think it would be appropriate, but this is still not a 'freebie'. If anything, its just a promotion to get people to buy the game. If a lot of gamers do visit this site on a regular basis, then there's a fair chance that they, if interested, would know where to look for a regular event such as this - the Steam homepage. I'm not saying that this shouldn't be posted at all, just that it shouldn't be classified as a deal in itself. If things like this were posted in the forums, then perhaps people would use it more.

Well I tried this but where's the tutorial?

I have nfi how to play the game besides the basics. Some guy seemed to be nuking me from above?? Gave up after 5 minutes and won't be back.

    • +5

      um.
      point and shoot.

  • +1

Hackers on just about every game I played. Will not ever be buying this game.

    • +1

I don't know why people cheat, it just takes the fun out of everything. And its blatantly obvious too.

      • You can say that again. A guy I played with ended one particular round with a KD ratio of 45:0. His gamer tag? "AIMBOT"
        Not even kidding.

  • More of a reminder than a bargain.
Steam goers would be constantly checking these deals and whatnot (which, mind you, pop up whenever you exit a game) to make sure they're not missing out on anything anyway.
