      This is super tempting… Hnnnngggg

    • Thanks, edited post.

      All 3060s are.

    • Good point, added anyhow. Thanks.

    • Who cares if you are gamers, we just want prices to go cheaper

    • +1

Why does that matter to gamers?

  • +3

I'll be interested when price drops below 400.

    • +14

Under $500 would be more realistic.

    • +1

You’ll probably be waiting at least another year then

    • Realistically, that would be the right price for this card. After all, that's no more than a mid-range card for 1080p gaming, or 1440p when you dial down some settings. But such as the times that we still pay more than $600 for this GPU.

      • Yeah, I remember getting a 1060 6gb for $350 on special when they came out a few years ago. I feel like that $350-400 range is what the `60 range should sit in. It's nuts that people are being charged the same price for a 3070 as they were for the 1080's when they were released.

        • Yeah I bought a 5600xt for $400 just over a year ago when there were supply issues

Yeh the design of this card is kinda interesting… Single fan mostly should be for ITX build but then at the same time, it is a 2.5-slot card which means it can't fit in many ITX cases that can only support 2 slot…

    • +2

The design of this card is for lower cost only

    • What does 2.5 slot mean in practice if you don’t mind?

      • Thickness of the card/cooler and how far it extends beyond the size of the slot.
So, things like the 1030 are single slot, while bigger coolers require more "slots" to accomodate the card.

    • I also don't get what case this is for. Most ITX cases which can fit a 2.5 slot card can also fit much longer cards. Maybe for some oddly shaped larger ITX cases?

    • Is a single fan enough for the card? Any issues with thermal throttling?

      • It'll be loud AF.

Need high end card deal. HODL

  • HODL!

  • Wife wants me to HODL - but I can't anymore. Super tempting!

    • Lucky! I would never get approval for a GPU if I'd ask.
GPU is just not in the dictionary.

It depends what you need it for. If you can, it's definitely worth waiting at least until Ark arrives. That is meant to be Q2, so in practice in 3mo or so.

  • Price I paid new for my GTX1080…and the 1080 was a year old by that point.

    …and it's not even faster than the 1080. =(

  • cmon 3060Ti cmonnnnnn

  • Awaiting techfast to have some Mini 3060 Machines for $999

    • +2

I am sure Luke is working hard on that!

My GTX 560 was $180 new. This xx60 @ $659 all these years later is so uninspiring.

Lot of money for a laminated fossil fuel sandwich of 2 rocks to whizz some electrons through

  • No 4k right?

    • +2

no, this is a 1440p card at best. Even then probably more suited to 1080p imo.

    • Halo MCC plays well at 4k with it.

Any reason why AMD cards not following this trend?

    • Yeah, it definitely seems like the Nvidia cards are dropping faster than AMD. Which makes them comfortably beat out their AMD counterparts in price-vs-performance at the moment. Perhaps there's a surplus of Nvidia gear finally getting through and AMD is struggling to meet targets? No idea.

    • I think for two reasons:
      * Less stock on shelves due to being more reasonably priced than Nvidia over the past couple of months.
      * The price gap was largely due to a worse hash rate than Nvidia (even with LHR). Now hash rate matters less, Nvidia is suffering a more severe price correction between the two companies.

  • do i need to upgrade from 1660 super to this ?not really

    • 3060 is 40% faster on average without DLSS. Could be more than twice as fast with DLSS on.

Whether you need the upgrade depends on the games you play and games you plan on playing.

  • The fact that this card is already faster than my gtx1080 bought 700+ ages ago… I really like where the price is going.

I might not hold any longer for 3070ti / 3080

    • While faster than a 1080, it's not a whole lot faster and not much point in such an incremental upgrade.

If you predominantly play games with DLSS support and have a 1440p monitor then it may be worth it. However I would still aim for at least a 3060ti in your situation.

  • Dun think single fan is good enough. Got this one from budget pc https://www.bpctech.com.au/product/12g-p5-3655-kr-evga-gefor…

    • Damn, I just paid $699 for the non-black version on Tuesday. I suppose it was always going to happen 😅

    • A bit of undervolting can cut down power usage and heat output by at least 30% with no performance loss. This should make a single fan model operate with functionally cool temperatures and relative quietness.
