Can you find it cheaper anywhere?

    • The only reason it can't be found is because it's an older model that no where stocks =/= 'cheapest in aus'

  • Both price and design compare quite well to the Macbook Air.

But it is so sad. The version HN stocks has more RAM (6GB from memory), but only the 128GB drive. This on the other hand only has 4GB of RAM.

Why? With 8GB this would be a very fast and quite future-proof machine.

Ah well, never mind, I am prepared to wait another year hoping that PC manufacturers eventually get what users want from an Ultrabook.

    • not really. at this price you can only get the 128gb i5 version macbook air.

      • He seems to want 8GB RAM + 256GB SSD.

        • Spot on, the price for this one is good. But unless the RAM can be upgraded it is not a computer I want.

  • 13.3" screen, I7 2677M - 1.8gz, 4G ram, Intel Graphics, USB3.0, 256G SSD..

  • Its an ok price. But you'd be a fool to buy an ultrabook from this generation.

Next generation is where it'll get good. If you can afford this then you are better off waiting for the next gen.

I'll be waiting for price drops on the second gen because I'm a cheapskate.

No point waiting any longer than that though because after gen 2 the updates to ultrabooks will be relatively incremental.

    • I've seen a couple of people say this… and I disagree.

With the Zenbook the next gen has the same basic features except they're integrated into the chipset instead of being provided by additional controllers/chips. The performance difference is a few percent. Battery performance is a bit better under high load. And that's about it.

Is it better? Sure. Is it a massive leap forward. Not really, no.

The biggest thing for me from the current generation UX31E to the yet-to-be-released UX31A is the move to a 1920x1080 IPS screen.
