Home Theatre Speakers - advise

I am hoping some ozb-audiophiles will be able to assist me with making a speaker decision. I am looking at upgrading my current setup to something a little nicer sounding. This is almost entirely for movie/tv and no music. It's a lounge room not dedicated cinema.

I will mostly be listening in 3.1and upgrading to 5.1 down the track - Atmos setup doesn't interest me. So the options are

Q acoustics 3050i mains and 3090ci
Klipsch rp6000f and rp504c

Now listening to these is rather difficult as I'm many hours from a store that might have one of these setup…let alone both.

Just after some feedback for folks who either have these, know of these or just generally rather switches on with speakers.

  • What is your budget?

    • Relevance is low when he's listed the 4 speaker models he's choosing between.

      • True - fair gap in pricing though so wanted to confirm if the Klipsch were a serious contender.

  • I've been running the older Q Acoustic 3050/3090/3020 speakers along with an SVS SB16 Ultra in my living room for a few years and can't really fault the setup, for movies or music. I'm sure there's heaps of other options out there depending on your budget, but I honestly can't fault Q Acoustics for build/sound quality and I don't feel the need to upgrade any time soon. I'd highly recommend getting out and trying to listen to speakers before buying them though.

  • I can get the klipsch for about $2k and the Q's for about $1300. If the klipsch is that much better speaker they are definitely a contender

  • More importantly, what amps are you looking at?

  • I like the sound of the Qs over the Klipsch.

A lot of people (on the internet), find the Klipsch to be too forward for their rooms, can be good with movies and less so with music.

Not sure if you can find a place to listen to both, a listen might rule out one or the other pretty quickly.

  • Looking at power with an Onkyo txnr676e or a Yamaha rxv4
