adr8's deal was expired but I noticed that one is back on sale for US$12.99 and so is this one for the same price. The only difference between the two is thermometer is a different design, while the Finger Pulse Oximeter looks to be the same.

Not a bad price if you're in the market for one.

I'd suggest not losing sleep over covid anymore, like everyone else.

        • +6

I'm losing sleep over it right now, because I'm on day 5 of it.

@Morven: Hope you recover OK. Comment was tongue in cheek, as this has largely been the govt. take of late despite the economic and social costs that have been incurred.

            • @buffalo bill: Sorry I missed your sarcasm! Yep you're right. My son's daycare kept it out for 2 years, then governments went all "living with covid" and last week he came home with it. (Just in time for the articles about covid damaging the brain.) It's no fun.

        • Easy to say if you’ve never caught it.

Oricom HFS-1000 - Choice rated this as the best. It also has positive reviews on Productreview.com.au

      • +1

Something from the big names. Oricom, Medescan, Braun - or check next time what your GP surgery uses.

        • Thanks, bought a Braun instead of the OP deal.

    • No sure how I got a negative buy suggested to buy one that clinicians use.
I mean, they wouldn't be buying something thats awfully inaccurate I'd image.
And I'm not talking some fancy super expensive hospital one, I'm taking GP surgeries too.

      • Have you checked your temp?

      • I didn't neg you, but I also didn't understand your comment at first. I guess it should be:

Unless the device in question is used in a clinical environment - save your money

ie. Buy something that you've seen at your GP or hospital.

  • Very cheap combo!

  • When I checkout with PayPal, order total is $25.xx

    • Why?

    • Same here I thought this was in US dollars at first,.. but no it states $AU

Has anyone bought any of these thermometers and can comment on accuracy?

  • Unless someone can point out an alternative this seems like a good deal?

Accuracy seems perfectly reasonable. The key with any measuring device is to get a baseline to compare against and detect change.

    • The problem with infrared thermometers is that they measure the surface temperature, so the accuracy changes depending on ambient temperature. Even the good brands are not as accurate as in-ear or underarm ones.

  • when does one use a Finger Pulse Oximeter ?

    • +3

After someone gets COVID. If he has a reading lower than 95ish on Oximeter, he is in danger even without symptoms.

  • +9

Don't bother. The oximeter gives inconsistent and inaccurate readings. Comparing it against two other more expensive models (only $30ish) that give readings that differ by 1% at most, this thing reads really low, like "call an ambulance" low (low 70s). It's ridiculously sensitive to position. You can make it give a sensible reading with a bit of work, but you only know it's sensible if you've got another to compare it to.

The build quality is crap. Do not buy these (the thermometer is almost as bad).

    • +4

I completely agree. Quality aside I have seen so much "medical equipment" coming out of China that is total junk and the readings are everywhere. I strongly recommend buying equipment (if it for more than to play with) that is listed with a register such as ARTG.

Although Kmart do not sell the above product, they do sell registered blood pressure monitors and a limited range of mobility accessories like hospital meal dinner for zoom meetings and wheel chairs.

  • These are so 2021

  • Just bought for 17.67.

COVID’s over haven’t you seen the news? Season 2 is all about Ukraine and oil prices to scare us now.

    • -1

Only 40 dying each day here from COVID. Acceptable? Maybe same thinking could apply to road deaths.

      • Not much we can do. There is a vaccine now.
        Time to move on.

      • Mostly WITH Covid. There's a huge difference.
And people keep driving with road deaths, almost like some sort of risk in life is acceptable?

  • do not buy. crap quality
