TCL 20 Pro 5G - Was $22.19/month, is now $11.07/month when you stay connected over 36 months on a mobile plan (from $40 per month Vodafone Lite Plan). Total min cost $827.88. T&C apply.

I just got this for myself, phone total cost $398.52.

I also got a discount on the plan itself, $55 for 200GB is now $50. So total I am paying $61.07 per month.

I was on Samsung Note 10+, and I can almost feel the same, very similar size.

  • Stay away from Vodafone handset plans please..

      Why?

    • +1

I have been with Vodafone from 2007, that's a whopping 15 years, and over 10+ plans.

Nothing special, but also nothing bad.

Similar to Optus, and yes inferior to Telstra, but Telstra is expensive.

      • +1

I have been with all providers (Sydney) and I can honestly say that there is no difference for me between Telstra, Optus or Vodafone (Kogan). Very similar services.

  • 36 months? Ouch.

    • I have been using it for a few days, I can tell you it is on par with Samsung Note.

My Samsung Note was 32 months before finally it started giving me problem with the moisture detection issue and then not able to be charged. I was paying $40+ smth for Note 10+ for 36m.

So, between 24m and 36m is quite the useful life of a decent phone.

  • The discount is also available over 24 months as well for $16.62/month, if you want to pay out the device (say after 8 months) you will lose the discount.

  • "$11.07/month when you stay connected over 36 months on a mobile plan (from $40 per month Vodafone Lite Plan). Total min cost $827.88. T&C apply."

Lol. So how does that work?

    • You lose the discount if you terminate the phone plan before the term listed either 24/36months.

      • $827.88 / 36 months = $23 / month

If phone is $11.07 / month, that implies plan is $11.92 / month.

But if you go through to the checkout page the agreed price (for lowest plan) is $51.07 / month.

So how does that work ?

        • that $51.07 per month already includes $40 per month plan

        • Like the other guys said. If you cancel, you lose the 50% discount. So the minimum cost is the full price of the device plus 1 month of service

@Big Paddy: That is the strangest way to specify total minimum cost.
Pretty sure every other phone company states the min cost over the plan, not assuming you cancel day one.

            This is probably better wording:
            $51.07/mth
            ($40 plan + $11.07 phone)
            Includes $11.12/mth device discount
            Min. total cost $438.52
(1mth plan cost + 36mth interest free handset repayments)

@Tiggrrrrr: Pretty sure you’re wrong, since you don’t get the discount on the phone if you pay it out early.

  • The TCL 20 PRO 5G has a decent camera, but the CPU specs would be viewed as mid tier or lower now with only Qualcomm SM7225 Snapdragon 750G and 60hz screen.

    • depending on what you use it though, I mostly watch youtube (80% of the time), social media, phone, taking photo, and have no pbm with it.

I am playing a mobile game, Saint Seiya Awakening, and have no issue.

https://www.androidpolice.com/2021/07/12/tcl-20-pro-5g-revie… You're looking at 1 year of security patch left (2 years from its April 2021 release date).

  • Does it come with vodafone bloatware that cant be removed ?

  • $684.47 outright or lock yourself in a overpriced sim plan for 24/36mths

if you are a heavy data user, I am using 80GB-100GB of data each month, can you point out to me what plan is cheap/much cheaper than Vodafone? I am really keen to know. My wife is on Kogan 23GB for $20, and often she run out of data before 30 days and has to recharge again.

I am currently paying $50 for 200GB and excess usage is unlimited with throttled speed (although I barely notice it).

      • I’m talking about the $40 for 40gb plan being overpriced, $50 for 200gb is reasonable, other option is to wait for a jb deal

Just get a Poco F3 and put it on a cheap Belong/AldiMobile etc plan. What am I missing that makes this a deal, especially with this phone's specs?

    • +1

I have also been wondering why iPhone of $1600+ is also considered a deal.

Poco F3 is a good phone.

    • Except the Poco F3 may not work on the Telstra network after June 2024, when they shut down 3G. F3 can't make voice calls on Telstra 4G (VoLTE). Oh and 5G calling (VoNR) is still a way off yet.

  • This handset is currently on promotion down to $239 locked, at Australia Post

    • Not the same phone
