  • Just wondering now if I should pull the trigger. 3060ti/3070/3070ti, which one is worth their price?

  • Not many deals lately seems the retailers are hodl

Most retailers are still hodling onto their old crazily expensive GPU price tags purely due to their greed.

Most hodler still hodling onto their imaginary brand new $800 RTX 3080 for almost 2 years due to their ignorance.

It was launched at $1139, and waiting for just $300 price drop for 3 years. waste of time.

So? Good on them. I don't know why you'd be willing to spend that much to play video games. $1800 used to get you a decent gaming rig, now because of individuals with no life it only gets you a non flagship gpu. You're looking at $3000 to build a pc/play video games if you want the 3080. That's an insane amount of money to play games/pat yourself on the back with benchmarks.

Honestly how is it justified? Mining? I see many 1440p 27 inch screens for under $1000. Why not drive them out of stock and make those 3k too? The only ignorance comes from those encouraging others to paying overs due to mining. Probably because they're an unethical miner themselves and are currently in panic mode their mining farms are about to take a 50% hit. And Eth 2.0/rdna 3 still to come. I think it will be a bloodbath in 6 months

Current prices are driven by mining and fomo gamers. But the fomo gamers won't normalize higher prices like you wish. Eventually there'll be enough supply no amount of lobbying/fear tactics from miners on ozbargain will prevent gpu values falling.

@Jimmy77: Exactly, rip off these days, you would be better off getting a console and a normal PC /laptop for office tasks (and would still probably be fine for a lot of games with a decent cheaper GPU).

No way I'd pay more than RRP for a card just cause other plonkers are mining coins

@G-rig: I agree, however there are other reasons to buy a card than just gaming. I had to bite the bullet about a year ago on a 3070 at $1200 as my previous GPU had died, and I needed decent gpu acceleration for a Video production gig I was doing at the time. I basically didn't have a choice other than spend too much on a card, as no matter what pricepoint I went for it would be a lot more than it was worth.

@witheredcouch: That's true, you need something obviously, just don't see the point of paying heaps for a top tier card. Good getting something reasonable at least, that will last you and they are holding their values anyway. My MSI 2060 Super is still doing a great job for work and casual gaming, don't see the point of upgrading for ages still. ps. also recommend MSI over Gigabyte.

@Jimmy77: Basically when I build my PC for music, I'm more than happy to buy used mining card because I'll only ever play Warzone and it will be very rare so why would I spend more on a video card then I need to?

Music wise, you don't need a graphics card at all.

Can't wait for hundreds of used GPUs! It suits me, but probably not good for people who game daily.

Saying that, you have to recognise that some people all they do is game.
As in, they game after work and they game all weekend because that's all they have to do so in that scenario it's probably worth investment for them.

  • Alright, who bought up the 3070ti? I thought we are HODLing? I feel so betrayed right now :'(

  • Not disagreeing with the Gigabyte owners, but my 2070 from 2018 has been flawless.
