What's the catch? Energy companies aren't paying over $200 for each referral sign-up are they?

    • Hi Hybroid, Econnex is independent from the retailers, we provide exclusive offer to customer to help get better deals.

      • Hi Rep Cashrewards offer applicable as well?

        • Hi There, unfortunately this deal can't be used in conjunction with any other offers.

I got that. The question is why? What do you get out of it? Are you harvesting people's data? Are you going to keep spamming us with other offers and things to sign up to? Are the rates offered through you higher than going direct? Is there another catch embedded somewhere? You have a pretty strong continued campaign offering $200 for switching with you, something's up.

        • This is an offer our customers continue to ask for through Ozbargain hence we continue to provide. Our plans are the same as what the retailers would offer elsewhere so no added fees and extra costs. We run similar campaigns across our brand for differing values that allows us to provide ozbargain exclusive deals like this.

@Manyo: Hmm, I just tried doing a comparison check and it asks you to enter details and forces you to agree that Econnex and their commercial partners can contact you about services. That's scummy.

So, for Simply Blue Perks electricity, their website direct states $84/month and yours $95/month. https://i.imgur.com/25Oo0L1.png

Edit: Checked the individual rates and they are indeed the same for both.

            94.60 cents/day daily charge and 26.86 cents/kWh. So there's a catch somewhere else.

@Hybroid: Hi Hybroid, I have investigated this. These are all estimated costs based on location and meter types, For example if looking at postcodes in Sydney 2077 vs. 2200 there is a difference in the estimated costs. On the Simply Energy website they are using 9kwh daily usage.in the example shown where as Econnex uses 10.68 kwh daily usage although still the same discount off the reference price .

        • The retailer's pay them commission.

Are you going to keep spamming us with other offers and things to sign up to?

I've used these guys a few times over the past few years, no spamming (and I given them an unique email address so I'd catch them).

You know they're linked to Cashrewards?
(Check the energy offers in the CR app)

          • @M00Cow: Well that's what I'm asking, do retailers pay out $200+ for each referral fee sign-up or is there something else going on?

Cashrewards means nothing to me. I don't subscribe to these schemes.

            • @Hybroid: It'll be a mix of retailers paying out upfront bonus (probably $200+) & a trailing commission on your bill spend.

              That's how OneBigSwitch worked.

            • @Hybroid: Every retailer pays different referral fee some may pay up to $200 others may not. Econnex is in a position where we are able to provide seamless incentives based on all the retailers on our panel.

      Well for me

      Simply
      Daily supple 99c
      Usage 23.75c/khw (for 13kw & then 24.7c
      15kw/day = $4.57/day

      Reamped
      Daily supply 80c
      Usage 21.34c/kwh
      15kw/day = $4.00

So I'm $208/yr better off with Reamped.
If I sign up & switch after 3mths I'm better off, but after 6mths I'm not.

      • I'm with you. Also ReAmped. They are currently the ducks nuts.

  • Note - this will get you approx 200x little boxes of skittles

If you get the gift card while they are still on special….

  • The rates are super expensive compared to others. Not worth it if you’ll end up paying more in the end.

    • I switched plans with Momentum this morning and their rates are Daily supply charge $0.8613 & Anytime Peak usage $0.18161 per kWh. There is no connection or disconnection fees.

      Econnex plan:
Connection Fee $55.07 Incl. GST (Applicable when Move-In)
Disconnection Fee $55.07 Incl. GST (Applicable when Move-out)
Daily supply charge 106.337 Cents per day
Peak (Summer & Winter) all usage per day 22.418 Cents per kWh

The $100 you get for switching will be eaten away by the $55 connection and $55 disconnection fees! Does any one know if this special offer waives this fees?

      • +1

i thought connection and disconnection fees only applies when you change homes?

      • +1

You only pay those fee's when moving properties…

      • +1

Where did you get 86c daily supply charge on the momentum site? I see 98c.

        • depend on the area maybe. Simply energy is offer 24% discount at the moment though.
