  • ordered from here, expected delivery today then got a call that the main part of the order (a 4kg $160 fish) was unavailable due to fisherman not having supply. Fair enough normally, it's listed as "Fresh Wild-Caught" yet also says "Product of New Zealand" - not sure how it can be fresh if they don't know until 1030am of the same day whether the fisherman caught any, when it's coming from New Zealand.

Anyhow - really disappointed in their service.

"Your total satisfaction is our utmost priority. If there is any issue or concern with your order, please contact us and we'll make it right. Remember our goal is to see you and your friends ordering from us again!" is what their website says. They did offer to reimburse the delivery fee $12.50, and to deliver the missing item when they can get it for free, but they really shouldn't list this for sale on their website if they can't obtain it, or have a disclaimer saying that catch/items/orders are not guaranteed. I know it's wild caught and issues happen, but at least tell people with more notice than a few hours before it would be expected to be delivered.

  • Hi @dammit,

Thank you for your feedback. We understand why you might be upset that the wild caught blue eye cod was not available on the day that you wanted it, but I'd like to explain why you were not notified until 10:30am on the day.

As our promise is to supply fresh seafood, we do not like to order fish days before it's needed, so with products such as this wild caught fish we buy from the fish market auctions on the day that it's needed. That means your fish would have come straight from the airport that day if it was available (being from NZ). We'd rather not sell a fish than to sell something that's not fresh and were more than happy to offer you a refund for the fish which you didn't accept. Please remember also that all the other items in your order were available and delivered to you on the day that you wanted, and we offered to deliver the fish for no extra charge when it's available.

I'm sure if you went to a few fish shops you might find what you want when you want it, but you might also find that it's been in the shop for a few days or heaven forbid even weeks as we've seen before and which is why we started this business in the first place.

    • Thanks for the reply and completely understand @JackHinta your perspective, but maybe your website wording needs to be clearer that the availability of certain items is not guaranteed- as a consumer you see an item listed and click buy now and no mention of that you won’t know until 1030am the day of delivery if you will get it or not.

We were told the fisherman couldn’t catch it and opted to wait a few days. We then told one looking likely in the next day or two and was due to be delivered, but it never came. We gave up and got refunded. The whole reason we went with an order at fishme was because you offered this for sale. I appreciate splitting the order to deliver other items and offering free delivery but you still have this fish for sale listed on your website which is false advertising it would seem, given you can’t source it. I would suggest you remove the item from your store if it’s not in stock and unavailable to avoid expectations from customers being able to buy one.
