Is it the same as this? Seems like the usual price is around $2420.

    or https://ebargain.com.au/products/xiaomi-mi-4k-laser-projecto…? for $2399.

That AliExpress listing with GST is US$1835.98 and around A$2515.39. Assuming you don't get hit by the import tax since it's more than A$1000 it's still more expensive than local stock with an AU warranty.

      It's the below one.

Above one is 4k projector 1S, which only has Chinese version, not with Android TV

  • These ultra short throw projectors need special ambient light rejection screens for the best picture and contrast. Yes they will work with normal screens but contrast will suffer. These special light controlling screens cost 3x more than standard screens. Cheapest ones can be sourced from Aliexpress for $1500 with middle of the ground quality. Still pretty good for a 120" massive screen in the house for sub $4k and being ultra short throw, is a viable TV replacement if using an ambient light rejecting screen (room does not need to be fully dark so day time viewing is reasonable).

    • It needs very flat screens. I’m using the white wall at the moment. If you don’t want to spend that much on the screen, there are framed screens you can buy on ebay less than $200.

    • 100inch screen for $1000 here. Store rep posts on ozb regularly too.

If you have a clean, smooth wall or normal pj screen at home an UST works fine in a dark room I.E watching movies at night. It is not however a replacement for a TV. I have mine projecting onto my wall and it's great but I plan to get an ALR screen.

I'd say if you're looking for an 85inch TV or bigger then consider an UST.

Special discount on the Xiaomi Mi 4K Laser Projector 150" for all Ozbargainers!

    That's one extremely large projector

  • This is not the discounted price. This has always been selling around $2,200.

  • Any deal on a matching laser projector screen?

  • +1

Any decent home cinema projectors in the $1000 price range pls?

    • plenty of 1080p, stick with a proper brand though

at 4k the cheapest is the viewsonic at around 1600

best value is an older DLP projector like a benq w1070 or similar, can be had for a few hundred, bulbs are only $30, look great and well built - but if it's been through a couple of bulbs (say 5 - 8k hours) you'll need to open it up and properly clean the fans, dust build up will kill them

      • Can you please provide any links to buy?

        • for the benq w1070 just keep an eye on on ebay and gumtree for 2nd hand items, they routinely go for around 350-400 bucks, bare bulbs available on aliexpress for under $30 -easily last 3k hours

          https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=w1070+proj…

don't waste your time on a used projector thats LCD, those degrade over time, DLP (like the w1070) just swap out the bulb and she's like new

      • I have this one and it is great, had it for almost 9 years and does have a couple of dust specs on the lens but not bad enough for me to pull it apart. Good projector, amazing it was $750 9 years ago and nothing has come along to really better it in that price range.

  • PSA this model has had a lot of issues, look it up. its the main reason i didn't buy.
    an example here.

    • Any good alternatives ?

      • I suggest when spending this kind of money, don't go for the cheaper Chinese brands. look for hisense at minimum and buy local so you can return if you have issues.

Be aware according to the seller these screens are for short throw and not UST. Unsure of the technical differences to be honest but it's likely the screens that are for UST will be more expensive.

  • I got the XY UST screen from Bargain dingo. Will get around to seeing it up this weekend hopefully and report back.

    • Keen to hear your thoughts! I'm also going to get my screen from him too.
