Just a heads up, you'll also need to update the firmware via Samsung Magician to get the faster speed for a PS5, so you'll need access to a pc with nvme slots or a pc and get a nvme>pcie adapter

    • thanks mate, it is a very important info and I will never know if you didn't bring it up here, I did get this card months before for my PS5 from Computer Alliance, may i know when the firmware was released? I probably need to update it as well

        4B2QGXA7 - 26/11/21 (Improved PS5 read speed test)
        5B2QGXA7 - 13/1/22 (Improved random read/write)

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much (if you already installed it to your PS5). That PS5 test is a zero fill sequential read test. A lot of SSDs cheat in that test. So, 980 Pro didn't cheat properly so after the firmware update, it will join the rest of the field to cheat in that fairly meaningless test. The latest firmware may lower that speed test result a little bit, compared to the November firmware.

@onlinepred: If you read the user benchmark result, either some people tested on PCIe gen 3 or it shows all these quoted marketing figures are mostly BS.
980 Pro was released quite early so since then, there were a lot of new PCIe gen 4 SSD controllers. Samsung's controller is less aggressive on dynamic SLC cache. If the price is about the same, then WD SN 850 is generally faster (except, you do need to upgrade the firmware as well (if you have an AMD based system), unless you always put that SSD on an AMD system's connected to CPU's PCIe gen 4 slot. If you somehow have Seagate 530 and prefer to put the WD on the chipset supported PCIe gen 4 slot, the firmware upgrade is recommended).

Also, bear in mind, majority of the SSD reviews test empty drives.

Normally, you get a Samsung SSD during a cashback or other promotion event.

        • I'd still update it regardless, but in saying that I ran mine at the non upgraded 5000mb/s for months before the firmware dropped and had no issues. Your mileage may vary

  • Good deal, but not the lowest price.

    • under 400! That is a really good price!

      • it was..

Indeed, I felt sad thinking I got it for $420 back in November.

        • I got it even higher….we lost the spirit as a proud OZBARGAINER…hold until the end should always be our slogan

    • I bought this very late in the evening….WD SN850 2TB. OzBargainers are legends.
