Sydney School Traffic

As part of their daily school dropoff/pick up, are Sydney mums and dads secretly preparing to defend a foreign invasion?

An observation whilst driving during school hours traffic today.

Convoy of German tanks (okay, SUVs) orderly banking up from the school gate to key arterial roads that no enemy force can slip under the radar.

Formation is so fine that no intersection is left as an un(wo)manned passage.

State of art stealth technology runs in black, white, and grey, complimented by stealth driving techniques with all lights off, tactically hidden in the bewilden forest of heavy downpour.

Stealthy that it is almost invisible until the enemy is literally within punching distance.

Just as I thought a set of careful manuvour breaks through the defence line, a precisely calculated SSM launches out from the kerbside, cutting off any immediate advancement.

Peace reinstates with the passing of time as the convoy retreats.

Jokes aside, I wish all the best to Ukrainian civilians impacted by the invasion.

You forgot how they ignore no parking signs and handicapped parking space is but a suggestion.

I often chat with our local crossing supervisor and he has some horror stories to tell of entitled arseholes and how they drive around schools.

And when they move there is no indicator use so you never know their next move in the dogfight.

  • Don't they have school buses any more or do all kiddies these days have to be privately chaffeured?

      Privately chauffeured.

At my local school, there are about 400 students. Of those, only about 50~70 use the busses. About the same amount live within walking distance, the rest (2/3~3/4) all get a ride home in the mummy bus.

And of those mummy busses, almost 90% of vehicles used are large SUV’s.

      Privately chaffeured for private schools.

I can’t believe all these inconsiderate people causing this traffic!

I used to finish work at a time which saw me passing through 9 school zones on the way home. I have to say parents on pick up duty or some of the rudest, dangerous and most inconsiderate drivers in Sydney, especially those in Euro SUVs. I do not miss commuting to the office.

There are plenty of tradie type utes that doesn't carry any tools so it's not just the usual SUV brigade on the school runs.

    • You mean the logistics unit? They will ensure 24/7 uninterrupted supply to the front line.

I am sure that the tools are in the cabin.

      • Unless I was doing a large install or removal where I'd take my rolling stack, mine were in the cabin as I didn't have a canopy so it was more secure.

  • Were you were smoking something last night! 😋

The fact that you were only joking, and that you offer all the best hopes and wishes, is a huge relief for the hundreds of people dying every day. For a moment there they must've thought the worst was happening, but thank God you clarified that it was only a joke. Imagine how they'd cope without your best regards.

    Disaster averted.

Well, thank God you got out of the penalty box in time to make sure you could call them out on their comment - now that is surely a relief for the hundreds of people dying every day!

      • I wasn't in a penalty box?

        @CrowReally

After reading into some of SlavOz's posts… I understand what you mean…

    • @SlavOz

Yes, talk is cheap. I have supported with action - donation to UNHCR, hoping that it will provide support to immediate needs for those escaping the war.

I presume you have also donated generously? Or…?

If you are keen to match my donation dollar to dollar, I will DM you on the amount donated.

Go to Lane Cove at this time , whole new experience with all the Bitumen bandits cluttering up the narrow inadequate roads to ferry little prince and Princess home safely saving them from horrid Kidnappers or others. Say no more

traffic horrible when driving daughter to/from school!

  • Looks like we will need to buy a RAM in this military race.

  • It’s not just Sydney.

  • A lot of over-protective parents started driving their kids because they didn’t want them on trains or buses during Covid. Most of them will probably continue to do so now and the kids will never go back to public transport.

    • And in the last couple weeks, the ones that walked have driven to avoid torrential rain.

    • they don't want them to get covid but they then proceed to drop them off at covid buffets lol

most kids end up catching it at school, i've seen a lot of kids in my line of work who have already caught it and school has only been open for about a month, the state has only been open since december.

  • Are Sydney mums and dads secretly preparing to fend off foreign invasion during daily school run?

    huh ?
