Xiaomi Bluetooth Thermometer 2 Wireless Smart Electric Digital Hygrometer 4 Pack $20.69 Delivered @ topestore360 eBay

192

I needed some of these for my new place and saw this deal on eBay which is about the same price as a recent popular deal for them.

This seller is based in NSW, while the last deal appeared to be based overseas, so hopefully shipping times reflect this.

What do you use these for?

Putting them around the office so you can tell your co-workers "no your corner of the office is not colder…"

-ve vote is for dodgy seller price jacking

      • well, when I posted it (and purchased) it was the price as displayed

        • The -ve vote is for the store… Read the voting rules.

  • Can you get rid of the useless smiley?

  • Can it be controlled through smart home apps other than Mijia/xiaomi?

      yeah

      • Hey richard do you have any info on this what is needed? A bluetooth dongle?

        • +1

I have this one at home but looks like this one is discontinued and this one is the newer version

      Works with Home Assistant

      • Direct via Bluetooth dongle or needs a Xiaomi gateway?

Wonder what the range on them is

        • +1

I use with my inbuilt laptop Bluetooth via a VM with Home Assistant. Range is not great. Maybe 10m max

          • +1

@0 0 0: More a FYI: If one has a USB Bluetooth Dongle and attach to a 0.5m extension cable, the range is a lot better.
The extension cable being the important bit compared to a USB Dongle directly attached. Definitely a lot better compared to built in bluetooth (in my tests).

    OOS already

  • No longer OOS but the price is displaying as $35.99.

    • And now $29.99… what's going on?

dodgy frickin' email seller chucking a Gerry Harvey

        • +1

yep that's a bummer. maybe it was initially a price error, as it seemed like a good deal. as long as I get the 4 I ordered I'll be happy

    • +2

      $29.99 here.

      • price jacking by the seller.

  • Was decent price @ $15.69 if I used my $5 off Ebay coupon but not anymore. Ah well, I already have x7 of them so the price rise was a good thing for me and saved $$ as was very tempted to grab some more at that price!

    • What do you use them all for?

      • +1

Freezer, Fridge, Outside, others in various rooms around home. I have them display in Home Assistant. More a "as a matter of interest" thing. The Fridge & Freezer one's are handy as gives me a better idea of temps…or if door is accidentally left open (& beep not heard). I have HA email me if Temp exceeds 5c for over 15 mins (as a guide only).

        • Ahh nice one. I use Home Assistant too and have a couple of uses in mind, but not 7!

Can you get it to email the fire department in the event of a fire?

    • ah, I didn't see that on their profile. under the listing it says:

Located in: Regents Park Sydney NSW, Australia

As long as it's not going to take a month to arrive then I'll be content.

  • How long do the batteries typically last on these?

    • good question. I don't know myself, but hopefully someone can answer. I seem to recall someone saying in a previous deal for these.

    • +2

Can't say with certainty as I have only had mine for 6 months. What I can say is that all still have over 80% battery left.

Exceptions: The one in the Fridge (Temp 3c) shows as 60% and the Freezer (Temp -18.5c) one as 32%. I expect this as button battery's don't like the cold. Having said that, they immediately dropped to that level on day one when chilled and % left has not dropped over time. When I take them out and they warm back up, the battery level shows as 80% again.

In short, I would expect well over12months based on current % remaining and perhaps even 24 months (no idea).
