Just doing a PSA, you decide if this is a good deal or not.

The Victorian Government has announced a $200 million stimulus package to support businesses and entice Victorians back to enjoy their favourite food and hospitality experiences across Victoria. The package will be rolled out from March 2022.

What are the programs that will be launched?

For individuals

  • Victorian Dining and Entertainment Program opens on Tuesday 29 March. Each claimant can claim back 25% on eligible dining and entertainment purchases, up to $125 in combined rebates. Claims will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis until the $60 million funds run out ($30m dining, $30m entertainment).
  • Victorian Travel Voucher Scheme - Open on 23 March for travel between 8 Apr and 27 May. $30m funding for a $200 voucher when you spend at least $400 on eligible tourism and travel related services. Allocation exhausted

  • Ventilation Voucher Program
  • Small Business Digital Adaptation Program
  • Business Recovery and Resilience Mentoring Program

Update: Two previously announced vouchers have been combined into one voucher. The total sum of allocated funds has not changed. The cashback rate and cap for the Entertainment Voucher has been announced: 25% cashback, $125 shared cap with Dining Voucher.

  • State-wide Dining Vouchers - Expected to open on 29 March, $30m funding, 25% of spend reimbursed when dining in any regional and metro LGA outside Melbourne CBD from Mon to Thu and spend between $40 and $500
  • Entertainment Voucher Scheme - Expected to open on 29 March, $30m funding, to reimburse spend on tickets for cinema, theatres, live music, exhibitions, conferences etc

Tip by danielh - Don't forget to also use discounts such as Liven, Fork etc to help make your overall meal cost cheaper. Liven is particularly useful as your receipt is shown at the full price even though you may have gotten up to 50% off the meal. Good for maximising your claim back.

  • anyone get the seniors voucher? my parents and partners parents got nothing… signed up straight away for them too

  • Too bad the reimbursement will barely cover the cost of petrol these days.

    • +2

      It isn't mandatory to travel

  • For the travel voucher scheme today. I saw the FAQ that you only get notified of success within 10 business days.

But you can also only get one per household.

Is it worth submitting multiple applications per household to increase the chances? Ie if there are three adults in a household, each apply using the same address for a better chance?

    • +1

      From the T&Cs:
Only one Voucher can be claimed per household…

I think that 'claimed' and 'applications' are the same in this context, so no.

  • Corrupt

  • let the games begin!

  • +1

Got my application done in 1 min. Let's see how we go.

  • registered!

  • -5

Can't wait to pay this back with higher taxes for life

  • Done

  • +1

If we succesfully submitted and got the email, does that mean we got it? Do I need to wait for any other confirmation?

    • -2

Wouldn't it depend on the email content?

      • +1

        The email content is vague.

        • -1

Ok, not sure why you didn't elaborate on that rather than just state "…and got the email…".

          • -1

@GG57: It's the same email everyone here received, I don't need to elaborate. If you didn't get an email then the comment was not directed at you.

    • +2

It depends on the claim you make, you will need to fill out another form from May 4th, if you're eligible, it's a green light.

      • Awesome. The last travel voucher scheme email that came after registration actually said "This email acknowledges that you are one of the successful applicants in Round 1 of the Scheme. " and this one didn't, that's why I was wondering.

  • +3

applied and received an email saying this (below). Does this mean that my application is successful and accepted? eligible to claim later?

Thank you for registering your details for the Victorian Travel Voucher Scheme.

We've sent your application (reference SV-xxx-xxx-xxxx) to the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions.

Your final payment will be subject to an eligibility check as you must have evidence you are over the age of 18 and a Victorian resident to access payment.

Checks will be conducted to ensure expenses are not being claimed more than once.

You'll also need to present evidence that you:

Stayed in Victoria for at least two consecutive nights in paid accommodation between 8 April 2022 and 27 May 2022.
Spent over $400 on a combination of accommodation, tours, event and attraction entry fees during your stay.

  • thanks op!

  • +1

It is a very smooth and streamlined application process. Received my application submission confirmation email within 2 minutes of submitting the application. Now will follow the rules, book accomodation, keep receipts and claim with evidence. Thanks op!

  • I got my voucher as well, Letts Gooo!

  • u able to buy a $500 prepaid coffee card and claim 25%?

  • Can anyone confirm if the bookings of two separate accommodations (over two consecutive days) is eligible? i.e. hotel A on night 1 and hotel B in the region nearby.

  • Would this be applicable for staying over night in Melbourne metro area as well?

    • +2

      Yes, across Victoria

      • Cheers!

  • Travel voucher - Allocation exhausted

    • I'm exhausted!

  • What a joke, missed out for the fourth time.

  • This round is alot easier and smooth in application

  • anyone know if the event/tours receipts should be on the same days as the booking ?
Cant find any reference in FAQs

  • Allocation exhausted
Note: The allocation of 140,000 travel vouchers has now been exhausted.
Thank you for your interest in the Victorian Travel Voucher Scheme.

Question.. there is $30m at $200 each voucher… shouldnt there be 150k vouchers for allocation? "short" changed here?

    • It may be the other 10k were allocated to Seniors earlier.

      • ahhhh that make sense.. tq.

  • Got a travel voucher ..awesome thanks

    • Did you receive the voucher or confirmation??

      • Confirmation that is has been approved

        • May I ask what kind of confirmation you received? Mine just said something about 10 business days as mentioned by ine of the commentors earlier in this thread.

  • +1

i reckon accomodations in regional vic have gone up about 30% or whatever is left is +30% while the rest has been booked out for that period

  • The Victorian Entertainment & Dining starting tomorrow the 29th - does anyone know if details have been released yet?

Looking to book some entertainment/gig tickets, but wondering if I need to hold off and make the bookings from the 29th onwards, or prior bookings still qualify for the rebate (as long as the event is during the qualifying dates).

    • From the site:

Each customer can claim back 25 per cent on eligible purchases. Up to $125 in combined rebates for dining and entertainment is available per person…Claims will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis until funds run out.

To me, that sounds like if you incur the costs from 29th onwards, you can submit a claim straight away.

  • Where to apply dining and entertainment program? Can't find the link…

  • I wonder long it will take to exhaust the $60mill for the dining and entertainment program?

    • They are run as independent programs:

How much funding is available to claim back?
A total of $60 million is available for customers to claim back under the Victorian Dining and Entertainment Program. This is made up of $30 million for Dining and $30 million for Entertainment.
When will the Victorian Dining and Entertainment Program end?
The 25 per cent rebates will be offered on a first come, first served basis until funds are exhausted for Dining and Entertainment.
If funding is exhausted for either the Dining or Entertainment stream, the other will remain open until its funding is also exhausted.

Apparently you can continue to check the site for updates on funds availability.

      • Is there a way to check their fund balance?

        • I suppose one way to find out is to ask someone on OzB, or you could have looked at the website:
The claim websites state how much of the funds remain – either $30 million, $25 million, $20 million, $10 million or $5 million. Before submitting your claim, we encourage you to consult the relevant claim website – either Dining or Entertainment – to see if funds are available.

          • +1

@GG57: To be fair, I can't find where it says how much is left. All I can see is 'Now open with $30 million to claim' here

            • +1

@kerfuffle: I quoted text from the site, which states that the websites will state how much funding remains, by reducing $5m. increments.
If it says $30m is open to claim, I would assume it is somewhere between $25m and $30m.

  • Does anybody know if the number of people staying in the 2 nights consecutive accom have to match the number of people that for example take part in a tour? Or can my parents and I do a tour but only I stay at the paid accomodation (to still be eligible for the $200 rebate).

    • +1

      From the site:

To claim a $200 reimbursement you must…demonstrate expenditure of at least $400 across one or more of the following categories…

My read of that is that you (the claimant) must demonstrate expenditure. That is the only criteria. If I'm right, that means that you could pay for accommodation, tours, etc., and give them all away to others.

  • Can I get the rebate if I use gift card to buy ticket?

  • Entertainment Program - ugh bought a ticket via tickettek, no tax invoice was sent out… emailed them and now awaiting 25 days for a reply. Anyonel else in the same boat?

    • +2

Nope. Bought Harry Potter and the Cursed Child ticket via Ticketek and got tax invoice (and claim approved)

      • did you use the order confirmation? I only got an order confirmation also, no tax invoice

        • Yep. The Order Confirmation is the Tax Invoice.

          • @kerfuffle: ok, thank you for letting me know, technically not correct but will use that
a tax invoice needs to have the word tax invoice, state abn etc etc https://www.ato.gov.au/business/gst/tax-invoices/

            • +1

              @MrBillions:

I have a printed or electronic proof of purchase or tax invoice that includes the business name, purchase date, item description and transaction total (including GST). EFTPOS merchant receipts or handwritten receipts will not be accepted

Furthermore, their example of what they're after is literally a copy of a Ticketek Order Confirmation

          • @kerfuffle: The Ticketek order confirmation is not a tax invoice, but it is accepted for claim purposes by the program. All they ask for is a reasonable proof of purchase. To get the actual tax invoice from Ticketek, you need to call them and give them your address so they can post it to you. It is ridiculous I'd say.

            • @truetypezk: It's been forever and they haven't gotten back to me… my claim for Cindy was accepted by Bjorn (arts center) was rejected.

              • @anastasiastarz: What is taking forever? If you submit a PDF printout of the confirmation email it should be processed by their automated system and get your claim approved in just a few hours. You can also submit another one if the previous one gets stuck. Sometimes the latter one gets approved first and the earlier one will be rejected as a duplicate claim.

    • same here, no tax invoice just order confirmation @kerfuffle did you use the order confirmation for the claim?

  • Is booking via Airbnb eligible? Also if my stay starts on 27th May and end on 29th May then would I still be able to claim? Tia

    • Check wotif too.
I found some accommodation on Airbnb and turned out wotif was cheaper (+ cashback I believe)

  • Is zoo membership included on entertainment program? (i know zoo entry included)

    • Have you tried claiming? I am interested in this too

      • yes, i claim it, already been approved (somehow took longer than usual, 7 days from submit to approve)

        • Thanks! Will get onto it too! Cheers

  • Does anyone know if Zoo entry can be claimed in the Victorian Travel Voucher Scheme?

  • +1

    Too easy.
Dined yesterday (public holiday Monday), submitted claim this morning, email confirming approval within 3 hours.
The Dining program was showing as $25m still available.

  • Has anyone received the link to claim your $200 travel voucher?
I have not. They said they are sending out early May.

    • +1

Yes, I received the email yesterday morning with a unique link.
Check you promotions (Gmail) or spam folder, the subject line should be Victorian Travel Voucher Scheme submit your claim.

      • thx - I'll keep checking and hopefully it'll come through

    • Haven't received as well. Any one else in the similar situation?

    • haven't received either, went on their website to look for an email/phone to contact but there's nothing…

    • +1

Received the email on Wed morning with the link to claim. Hopefully yours comes through soon.

      • I did! It came through this afternoon (Friday).

    • Mine also came through this morning only.

  • Do cinema tickets from RACV count in the entertainment program?
    has anyone redeemed them?

    • I also interested to know this. For example can i purchase cinema vouchers from Costco and redeem?

  • Can you claim a rebate if your ticket exceeds $125 or not?
