Switching NBN HFC NTD - Possible?

I just moved in to a new place, and it is on HFC but Auspost is taking it's time delivering the NTD for it (Express Post, tracking number has been logged but no progress since, not even a pick up).

I still have access to my old home, which is also on HFC. Can I bring the NTD to the new place, get that sorted, and then leave the new one at the old home?

To be clear, I will terminate internet access at my old home and there will be no one using the place for at least a month.

Nah the NTD from your old property won't establish a connection at your new property.

They're linked to the location that they're used at. You could use the old one at your new place, but only if you live on the same segment that the old location is at. (Eg. If you moved next door to your old place)

It's pretty hard to find decent maps of the segment boundaries, but they're vaguely close to the old distribution areas layer that you can find on the nbnmtm maps. http://nbnmtm.australiaeast.cloudapp.azure.com/

Whatever you do, make sure you don't leave the new occupants of your old house without their NTD. It's a bit of a dick move that benefits nobody when the HFC NTD's go missing between owners.

Thanks all. Looks like I will have to hotspot until Auspost decides to pick up the parcel and deliver it.

The NTD is the property of NBN Co, and shouldn’t be removed from the property…

This! DO NOT REMOVE THE NTD! You are going to cause so many issues for the next person who moves in. It is NBN co property and should not be removed from the house it is in

You shouldn't remove the NTD. It is very clearly mentioned on the NBN site. If you are going to a property with an existing NBN connection, you will have a NBN supplied NTD already.

    • It's fairly common for people to take them when they move, despite the fact that they shouldn't and have next to no utility. You'd hope they'd be fairly efficient at providing replacements for this scenario, but it appears our wonderful postal system might be having its say on the matter.

  • OZ post took overnight to get a parcel from Melbourne to Sydney and then it took 7 days to travel from Chullorato the delivery point 5km away, but it went via Bankstown and Kingsgrove and back to Chullora for the next day delivery. Got the delivery two weeks ago.

    • Yeah that's ridiculous. I can't see how I can work from home for two weeks whilst hotspotting. Wonder if I can just cancel and get 5g sorted instead.

5G internet type data plans have a bunch of conditions that you need to get right for it to work reliably (when it does work). 5G internet data plans not reliable when you compare it to any NBN plan.
