With extra $20 off if buying via latitude pay

      • +2

But extra $11 for (non-First✓) postage.

    • +9

Yeah, saw the Kogan price first but I couldn't be bothered signing up to Kogan first for free postage… And also, CBF dealing with Kogan.

      • +6

Funny how $20 can’t even entice most to deal with Kogan’s crap.

        • $9 off if you've already had Kogan First before.

  • For those who got the OM3 from previous deals, which app do you use to get the device to work?
I don't seem to be able to find the correct app on Google Play?!

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    • From what I've seen online the app isn't on the play store, but rather you'll have to download it from their website

        https://www.riverloopsecurity.com/blog/2020/05/dji_mimo/

        • DJI’s Mimo app uses libraries that request personal data about users’ religious and political affiliation, as well as security settings from connected social network APIs.

        • The DJI Mimo app sends data through insecure means to servers behind the Great Firewall of China, where it is accessible to the Chinese Government.

        • The DJI Mimo app requests from users (via the OS) access to fine and coarse location data, the ability to manipulate WiFi state, read SMS messages, and read logs.

        • The DJI Mimo app fails to meet basic security practices for users’ data, leading to potential disclosure or modification in transit.

        • DJI’s Terms of Use Agreement allows user data to be shared with the Chinese Government.

        • Even without user consent, the DJI Mimo app sends sensitive information via unsecured means to third-party servers, where the Terms of Use Agreement supports cooperation with the Chinese Government.

So everything that the American and Australian governments do while people talk about conspiracy theories involving China.

          Gotcha.

          • +2

@Diji1: I guarantee this is happening in Australia - authorities are already allowed to edit or delete your social media posts if they don't like what you say - who's to say they arn't adding it to your profile at the same time!

            • +1

@Headless: You're talking about censorship, not privacy.

            • @Headless: Interesting, how do you 'guarantee this?

          • +3

@Diji1: At least we have an option of voting out our Government. With the Chinese Government, even their own people can't do that.

          • @Diji1: Please point at the last public figure that was disappeared for a few weeks for criticising our government.

No, these things are not the same.

I already have Reddit, tiktok, Facebook, WhatsApp, a smart home and 2 Google speakers. If any authority wants to drone strike my house they could pinpoint my location to a micron, even without my gimbal telling them where I am.

        • +2

Apple, Google, FB, Amazon, etc. know everything about your accounts, behavior, locations, etc.
Based on the Patriot Act 2001, the US government can demand information from (above) companies & ask them to keep the order secret.
Do not fall to politics & conspiracies about China. There are much more experienced 'eyes'.

          • +6

@taki: The landmark Apple vs FBI case says otherwise. Try not to let your political beliefs get in the way of facts. The western democracy system is far from perfect, but the moral equivalence used in these types of arguments is highly flawed, if not dangerous.

          • @Bunnyburger: Right. Just like Eastern European Jews in the 1930s had nothing to fear from a certain government in the far west.

And I tend to worry less about the things I have the power to change, including my own government.

      • For those that use Samsung phones, it is on the Galaxy Store.

It's tempting but I'd rather wait for a decent price drop in the OM5. Not only does the OM5 have the extension rod, but it is also 25% lighter which I think is important if you are travelling.

    • +2

It has a lot less battery life and more limited movement, compared to OM4. You're also unlikely to see a sub $180 price drop until OM6 comes out.

      • What do you mean by limited movement?

        • A couple of OM5 YouTube reviews have mentioned that it has a limited range of motion on one of the axis, but looking at the specs at the moment, I can't see a significant difference vs the OM4. But I can see that the OM5 doesn't have an external device changing port, unlike the OM4 - so you can't use it as a power bank.

This is a very fun piece of kit. Got mine for $29 using the great TikTok referral program. Still learning how to use it - but for $29 + Filmic Pro from google opinion rewards cash, it's a low entry point to practice filming high quality videos on your phone.

It's certainly far more suited for iOS than Android - there are some weird issues with zoom and framerate that are otherwise flawless on iOS. You can google whether your phone is compatible and make a judgement call based off forum posts to determine if this is worth a buy.

    • Thanks for the feedback. I got this as my zhiyan smooth 4 can't handle the weight of the galaxy fold… Apparently this one can.
If the frame rate and zoom don't work well with Android, hopefully stabilisation works fine as that's all I was using the zhiyan for…

How does one find out more about this $29 deal

  • +1

Purchased a OM3 a couple of years back for 80 on a refurb deal, sold for $100 and now purchasing this, thanks OP

    • No sweat. Enjoy :D

  • I'm confused.

Is it a 180day warranty or 1year warranty as per title in Amazon

    • My understanding was that if it's sold by Amazon Aus then it's 1 year, other sellers 180 days

  • Never had a phone gimbal, but my Ronin SC still goes alright.

Are these any good? There's a fair few negative reviews on the Kogan link about faulty refurbs being shipped. Not sure if it's worth the headache, even with a $20 Kogan voucher.

    • +1

I've tried to go from my SC and Pana/Fuji to using a mobile gimbal and Samsung and although the gimbal is great, ended up in the cupboard because can't go backwards in video quality. Depends what you shooting I suppose. I hardly use the sc or cameras but if I am using it, I want it to be the best possible

      • Haha, sounds like my similar situation. Rarely crack it out but when I need it, the quality is there. Although, I'm only using it to stabilise an older 600D.. 😅

I just wanted something easier to get around with and throw in a bag whenever I'm out and may need a handheld with my sammy. Although, after putting an order through, I'm now starting to read a few comments about it not being fully compatible with the S21 Ultra. Might have to throw my old Note 9 (dads daily) in there and give it a whirl to and see if that can make full use of it.

      • selling your SC out? i assume ronin sc gen 1, if it is, how much are you willing to sell? i am looking for 2nd hand one.
Currently kogan have it refurb $350 Pro kit

        • Sounds like you need parts? 😅

I don't really have plans to sell. Although, $350 is a pretty dang good price for a refurbished non-standard kit. I'd bite the bullet on that if you can. I saw yesterday a standard kit still being sold for $600 second hand.

I'm actually hoping to update my camera one day soon when we can travel properly again and make full use of it. My gimbal has left the house once in the last 30 months.. 😪

@[Deactivated]: my current SC gen 1 still working fine, but just need back up.

I dont want to change to SC gen 2, because i have to rebalance it again when i switch gimbal if anything happen to my 1st unit.
i just need to move all the parameters on the corresponding numbers on the ruler/guidelines

Furthermore SC 1 battery is replacable. My SC1 always run out of battery when i used it for 3+ hours, not because defective, but i think when i connect the usbc cable to my fujifilm (FF) for wheel focus, my FF seems to consume the battery, but then at the same time, my FF battery also going down (confused - but i dont have time to check), but pretty sure my unit if not defective, i just dont have time to research further.

Using it for corporate event works and wedding

  • Thanks OP just ordered one, I have screenshotted the listing so they can't renege on the 1 year warranty.

  • Bought this a few days ago. Didn't know it was a refurb hahahaha.

Thanks Op, A perfect Gift for someone I know.

    • I hope they enjoy it :D

  • Must resist…

  • One bad review about the magnetic holder clip not coping with larger phones - anyone know if this will hold a Pixel 6 in a gel case?

I bought a FIMI all-in-one from a deal here a few months ago and the Android app is crap, doesn't connect, so I can barely use the thing with its 1" screen.

    • +1

It even holds a Pixel 6 Pro in a gel Case with no issues.

      • Excellent, thank you!

  • +1

Pulled the trigger, thanks OP. Always wanted to try one of these.

    • No worries :D

  • Hi, can this hold an iPhone 13 Pro Max with an apple case on?

  • With iPhone 12+ and above, how does this work with MagSafe? is it compatible? or will we have to install extra magnet which will interfere with the MagSafe?

    • +1

I have the same question! :)

  • Any recommendations for a gimbal that will take a DSLR?

    • +1

Ronin mainly or crane. Those two are the main ones.
      There's is also the weebil.

All depending on size and weight

  • Also OM 5 is on special at Bing Lee for $200 plus p/h or free pickup. Postage to South Australia is $6.

OM5 is 25% smaller and includes extension rod built in for easy selfie and other applications.

  • Ordered :)

  • What app is everyone using? If DJI Mimo has privacy issues?

    • Bump!

Also was about to ask what others are doing.

Apparently you just miss out on obvious updates and also the use of active track. Apart from that, you can get almost full functionality from other apps I think. You could also sideload it onto an old/spare phone just to keep it updated. One app suggestion I saw recommended was Filmic Pro but that was $20 on the app store when I checked.

Yet to look into it further though.

      • Bump? :-(

I haven't touched mine since the first 5 minutes of unboxing..

  • Arrived this morning, looks a good bit of kit

Box was sealed as RB? Unit, everything inside looks new

    Cheers OP

    • Same as mine. Looked great!

    • mine as well.. there's $29 for 2 years replacement plan … worth it you think ?
