The best open world game ever.

Tempted, any news on a next gen update for this (à la cyberpunk 1.5 patch yesterday)?

    • +3

Unlikely, I'd say. Even if they did do it, their history with GTA 5 (soon to be released on it's 3rd generation of consoles) would suggest that it would be a separate product, not a free upgrade.

    • The only news that's come out is that it may be announced this year… not released, but announced, which doesn't fill me with optimism.

  • +2

    Still waiting for a PS5 patch 🤡

    • +6

      Don't get your hopes up.

R* are greedy Mofos - they'll release a "remaster" later this gen at full price with barely any improvements.

        Most cynical company ever

        • +1

Sure. Also some of the greatest games ever made assuming you ignore the online bits.

    • Did red dead ever get a next gen upgrade?

    • +4

      Still waiting for Undead nightmare!!!

      OP mentioned it

You should never support Amazon price matching, their stated goal is to drive every other business out of business (and they can afford to do it with AWS) so they don't have to price match.

If it's the same price you are gaining nothing to lose later on.

      • +2

Agreed. don't fall for their bullshit tactics. we all lose in the end when we support amazon.

I was just watching videos last night on how much effort went into the derail of this game

      Derail or Detail?

        🙈

Did it end up off the tracks? 🚂🚂

      • Yes, a real sticky situation, just like getting turtles in your pants.

I played this on PS4 Pro and good lord it is beautiful to look at. Production values across the board in terms of graphics, music, writing, acting and anything else you care to mention are just superb. It goes on way too long and is quite tedious at times but even now, long after I finished it, I still occasionally load it up just to wander around in it for a little while and look at it all.

Well worth it at this price.

  • Slightly OT, but does anyone know whether it’s worth holding out for a PC deal for this? I heard it was buggy as hell, but last mentions I can see about this was 2-3 years ago. Does anyone know if patches over the years have made it as playable as on console?

    • +1

Played it on PC last year, didn't experience any bugs or glitches at all. Was quite a smooth experience.

    • +2

ive seen it drop around $25 multiple times on console but never below like $40 on pc - though im not looking too hard.

If you consider the fact you can sell this used for $20 after you have finished it its a bargain. it would look slightly better on PC though if you have a beastly PC tho, but graphics these days are so good you will stop noticing after 5 mins

      • I vaguely remember it free via epic

        • +1

Don't think it went free on Epic before, GTA V has though.

        • it was free on Game pass for a little while… wish I had a PC then to play it..

    • +1

Where do people get this stuff from? I have both.

PC version is much better. More content, much better visuals, mods and you can aim with the mouse. No brainer.

I never encountered any bugs on either play through.

      • When you say more content, what was in the PC version that is missing from the console versions?

I played it on PS4 and there was already a lot of content (probably too much) in there. Not sure it actually needs any more, but curious to know what I missed out on.

  • The game has quite a large degree of replayability, meaning you can end up investing more than ~200hrs in the game. Definitely gonna replay it again some time soon, choose the different story arcs and see how it goes.

    • Damn , that's like beginner in Rocket league. RL you can do up to 5000 hours to get up to semi pro. 10k for pro.

      • I am talking about the singleplayer campaign, mind you; I know that when playing multiplayer games you can easily rack up thousands of hours.

Could be the most brilliant game in the world, not playing it at 30fps

    • You must not have played consoles before. 30fps has been fine for a long long time.

      • Made the switch back to Series X after being on PC since the PS3. 30fps feels janky and gives me a headache (unless it’s a much less hands on game), but the amount of 60/120fps Performance options nowadays has got me happily back on console

        • Just takes like 10 mins of playing and you get used to it. But yea can understand health issues related to playing games, my mate can't play FPS without feeling sick and getting a headache.

      • +1

It is acceptable, but this masterpiece is better to be played with 60 fps if you can.

    • +1

You must be born in the 2000's

      • Nope, and can happily play the old games that were designed around lower frame rates. But for me personally, any modern game that has a PC counterpart that does 60fps+ and sits on 30fps on a console feels like a laggy motion blurred mess

  • Watch out for tuberculosis, cowboy

    • LMAO! They should add some COVID jokes in there.

  • Been on the fence with this one for a while, should I buy it fellow OzB?

    • +1

      YER.

    • +1

I reckon you should try e Bay unless you are after the war horse DLC. It is sometimes couple of more dollars cheaper there and you would be supporting fellow gamers. The game is pretty good, no doubt there…

      • +1

        Great advise buddy, much appreciated.
Would definately support fellow gamers, what goes around comes around :)

  • This game and the 1883 tv series share inspirations.

    • +1

I started watching 1883 last weekend, and found myself jumping back into RDR2 for the first time in over a year because of it.

Did have a 4k TV or home theatre back then either, so finding a whole new appreciation of the game.

    • Great show, but getting over the love story of Elsa… nobody cares.

      • Let it go!

      • You'll get over it. Love is an open door

  • Amazon has matched for PS4, waiting for Xbox…

  • Can I play on PS5 without any performance issues?

  • Ends 2/3

  • will there be a next-gen version like GTA V?

won't play this any time soon but will jump on, just don't want Rockstar releasing a next-gen version before I get a chance to play this one.

Or Would PC version be better?
