$200 off using the code DDTIGER, ordered mine yesterday and it was dispatched the same day. Easy to use home wireless battery security camera setup that uses your existing wifi to connect, no need for a smarthub. I've already been using their app with the doorbell, no complaints so far.

Great cameras as in quality. The subscription requirement is a big negative for me though.
You can view live stream and get notifications of movement without the subscriptions.
However without subscription:
-cannot view past recorded events remotely, which to me is a major drawback (can get around this if you vpn into your home network to view past recordings)
-no cloud recording
-cannot use the "smart" features such as identifying movements caught on camera e.g. with subscriptions will notify you that movement picked up was due to an animal, vehicle or person.I don't know about Arlo Pro 4 but they should allow it. I still have 10 Arlo Pro2 cams going strong. No problem without subscription here. It is only annoying to see the offer to upgrade to premium from time to time. I think they try to avoid that everyone is using their products without premium subs. A friend of mine has a premium sub but he still gets a lot of notifications about moving bushes and trees from wind etc. They promise you will get less unnecessary recordings, but I don't see much difference. You just have to be smart and position the cams good to avoid to get too many unwanted videos. It can also help to turn the sensitivity down.
That reminds me, with the subs you can mark the areas you want movement notifications to come from, and any movement outside those areas shouldn't raise a notification.
I know that the ability to view past recorded events was/ is available for the older models, but is not available with the newer models unless you have the subscription, which really annoyed me when I installed it for my mother's house. They have changed couple of major things since Arlo Pro 2. AFAIK, Arlo Pro 2 was the last model which didn’t require subscription & could view cloud records, get notifications remotely etc. All newer models which requires base like Arlo Pro 3 or standalone cameras like Arlo 4, Arlo essential etc still“demands” subscription to use most of the features.
Yes. You will have to buy a micro SD card and the hub base (if you want to record)
Thats the older hub base (VMB4540); It's got a USB port so you can attach an external HDD but it doesnt have Micro SD card. The new hub base (VMB5000) doesnt have an USB port only SD Card. The older hub (i.e. the one you linked) is better since an external 1TB hdd is cheaper than a 1TB Micro SD card. Also, you can find the VM4540 hub cheaper on eBay (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/353834076877) with 17% discount codes (PFEB17).
thanks
I have 5 arlo cameras with the 2k subscription (limited cameras can be added in the subs at the same address). So far so good (7 months).
POV: I believe the subscription worth much more than investing in a SD card that could corrupt any time. What on earth makes this camera worth $800? A ReoLink RLC-810A is a significantly better quality 4k camera, and can be had any day for $100.
There are 4 of them in this particular package, but the discount code apparently works on other Arlo packages as well. And that Reolink is PoE, these Arlo cameras are battery powered and work over WiFi. Reloink make fine products, but in this case it's not really like for like.
Do these come with accessories to fit them to brick walls? Or the Arlo Adjustable Screw Mount white needs to be lurchased too?
I believe the 4 pack comes with 2 magnetic indoor/outdoor mounts and 2 of the outdoor mounts. I won't know until the box arrives, I am going off their unboxing video on the website. Delays in delivery even though it's express post.
Ebay has lots of cheap alternatives. I've got black and white accessories. Mounts, covers etc..
What about monthly subscription? Can we do without it?
