General Medicine Bundle (for Relief of Hayfever, Pain, Diarrhoea) with 1 RAT Test $51.99 Express Delivered @ PharmacySavings

1001
rat

Hi Ozbargainers,

RATs are with us for months/years to come, and after months of begging our 1st significant supply landed in the pharmacy on Friday.

I've had so many calls and emails asking for RATs my brain hurts.

To celebrate the mass landing of RATs at our little Pharmacy I've put together the following bundle deal containing most of the Ozbargain favourites, plus a RAT test.

70x Hayfexo Fexofenadine 180mg (Generic Telfast Alternate)
50x Lorazol Loratadine 10mg (Generic Claratyne Alternate)
30x Cetirizine 10mg (Generic Zyrtec Alternate)
24x Ibuprofen 200mg (Generic Nurofen Alternate)
100x Paracetamol 500mg (Generic Panadol Alternate) - Tab Bottle Pack
20x Diarrhoea Relief (Generic Imodium Alternate)
1x All Test Covid 19 Rapid Test, (Oral Fluid) - ONE test included, single retail pack

PRICE: $51.99 with code
CODE: rat
LINK: https://pharmacysavings.com.au/products/rat-test-inclusive-2…

I've only been able to assemble 50x of this bundle tonight, if demand is strong I will hit the suppliers up tomorrow morning and ask for more stock at the same price, given many of our favourite reps have departed and some brands simply don't want to deal with us (due to our Ozbargain posts), I'm predicting interesting months ahead.

I've again added the ability to add selected items to the bundle at reduced rates, so take advantage of spare express post bag space if if you're ordering the bundle and really stock that cupboard !

The mometasone deal (Nasonex generic) from a few weeks ago is still powering on, I've still got retail stock, so I've allocated more to Ozbargainers, the wholesale buy price per nasal spray (and there are 3 in the deal) has gone up $2 per unit ($6 over 3 units) so whatever is left in stock really is a great buy:

          Dude read the description:

    • +4

      🤦‍♂️

    • +11

      3 sales in the 1st 3 mins, I don't think it's that bad a deal ;-)

EDIT: Not sure I should even share this, but the deal was originally due to go live @ $49.99 and I when I used the calculator vs my brain to check the math I realised I may be losing money. So I think this is a pretty good deal, albeit I acknowledge it helps me run down my literal warehouse full of paracetamol and ibuprofen now in stock.

    • +2

      show me where its over?

  • +10

Sorry Jason. You got some good deals as always but marketing is dodgy this time.
1x Test is not a deal for RAT tests.

I would suggest you change title/description.

    • +9

Ok, changed 1x Rat test, but plenty of other items included (just in case you missed the 6x other items in the deal + express post)

      • Awesome.
Look forward to future deals. 👍

        • +25

Better avoid all bundles from all retailers in the future then, this is the concept of a bundle. The strong sellers pull the laggards along. It's not that paracetamol is a laggard, its just that in order to secure any stock in the last month, massive orders were needed (or suppliers simply wouldnt supply), so now massive quantities need to be sold and demand is falling away (same thing happened around March 2020). Selling 1 bottle of paracetamol isn't practical for an online business as it costs $8 to ship (alone), the only way to move it at a fair price customers will pay is to bundle it and spread the cost of the freight across many items. Hope the explanation helps. The alternative of course is that I sit on tens of thousands of bottles of paracetamol, go broke, can't pay wages, rent etc and live on the streets. Not being smart but what would you do? Uphold your version of ethics ?

            • +7

@Vote for Pedro: If this was 2 weeks ago and there was zero in stock anywhere, I would agree.

Today, demand is still there, but there are thousands in stock, everywhere.

All major pharmaceutical wholesalers in Oz have tens thousands in stock, which means every pharmacy in Australia should have shelves full of them.

                • +5

@Vote for Pedro: In all seriousness, if you walk into any pharmacy and they have no stock, ask them to look up API in real time and get one in for you, I can see 22,000+ for immediate delivery available of the brand included in my bundle.

I can see the emotion around this item and can understand that if supply was non existent people would be upset by feeling they had to buy a truck load of something they dont want just to get a rat, but its just not like that anymore - Any pharmacy who has no stock is electing not to have stock as of late last week.

                • +7

@Vote for Pedro: You must live in the butt (profanity) middle of nowhere. Pretty much every chemist has stock near me.

Healthy life (woolworths) showing discounts on bulk buys means that supply is starting outstrip demand or at least equal it.
                  https://www.healthylife.com.au/shop/products/2san-covid-rapi…

Go take your morale outrage to your next cause.

        • +7

checking the cheapest prices of these online (while specifically avoiding this retailer) the cheapest i've managed to find comes to 50.95 inc delivery, without throwing in the RAT. to get that price I also had to use a % price of a larger pack of one of the items, which wouldn't be obtainable (and is inherently cheaper price per unit as based on buying more).

You could look at this as 'bundling a RAT to offload stock', no one can stop you, but if you do actually have people in your household that have allergies, aches/pains & don't have some emergency imodium laying around, this is a great value pack with an extra RAT thrown in for a dollar.

Are you saying, as an OZBr, if you went in to buy all this stuff and the guy at the counter say "hey, buddy, you buying all this shit, i'll throw in a RAT for a dollar" you'd say no? if you're on a pension/concession I'd see why a no would be reasonable, but chances are you will need one soon enough, and finding them under $10/pop, or even finding them at all in most places isn't possible.

          • +1

@lulzenberg: Thanks for the comparison, I think the safest way to go in the future on Ozb is to offer the rat as a upsell option on a standard bundle (not include it as standard) that way clients can elect to pay the prescribed price for the item, or pass on it.

          • -6

@lulzenberg: Yeah, but OP highlighted the RAT as the primary hook/bait and even described the point of bundling to help offload stock. So the intent is clear.

Spin it however you want if that’s gonna help you sleep at night

            • +6

@Vote for Pedro: why would I need any help sleeping at night? i'm neither the seller nor buyer.

i saw what you said, then looked to see if it actually checked out, instead of getting on some imaginary bandwagon.

i asked myself, is this person trying to some how put one over the ozb community by making a bundle with a RAT? after checking the prices of what they were selling, the answer was no. the only way I could get to under this price was by taking large bulk packs and cutting them up and pretending I would still be able to get this price per unit, and even then it was only under by a dollar, standard post and no RAT.

            • +2

@Vote for Pedro: Isn't it amazing how people lose the minds over covid related things.

Pharmacy has a retail element, build a bridge.

            • @Vote for Pedro: Pretty much every officeworks has them just sitting on shelves now. Supply has certainly arrived for those that need it. This is just bundle to make it a bit cheaper.

  • +5

When all of our stock comes in hopefully this week we should be able to wipe the floor on rat tests (if the demand is still there), especially for concession card holders for whom we can probably charge $0 while still throwing in a couple of items and free freight. But for everyone else who needs to stock the cupboard, this deal isn't too bad.

    • Can see where youre coming from. But i think jason just telling us he now has RATs.
Still same good deals on other products

      • …and that's how he's gauging the indirect price…I think I just confused myself

  • +1

Do people eat these like tic tacs? I just take a Panadol once in while…

    • +5

According to ABC newsradio yesterday, the average man/woman in england pops 70x Paracetamol per year. So I suspect there are many folks taking way more, and many taking way less. Production/Consumption of Paracetamol is measured in tonnes (not tablets)

      • +4

Wow. I feel like an outlier. I probably haven’t taken paracetamol or something similar in 10 years.

        • +2

Yeah, I was thinking the same, it has been at least a decade since I popped paracetamol.

    • +5

pretty common for headaches and period pain relief

  • +6

Title is confusing. Suggest you change it to:

Medicine Cupboard Filler Bundle (1x RAT Test, Hayfever & General Meds) $51.99 @ PharmacySavings

For people not paying attention, it looks like 1 RAT test for $51.99 which wouldn't be a deal.

    • +6

Thanks I appreciate it, I was wondering why everyone was freaking out tonight.

      • +1

There’s probably no easy way to word it for everyone to understand without having to read the description.

At first glance I thought it was a $50 RAT test that treats hay fever, pain and diarrhoea.

        • +3

That's in next years combo pill

  • What is the business model here? RAT is no longer hard to come by. All the Foodlands (I'm in SA) and Pharmacies in my suburb all have RAT in stock.

    • +10

If you do the math on the balance of items (even based on Ozb pricing of my other deals, you're paying about $8 for the rat in this deal), no problem if the deal tanks (which its not as people are still buying it despite the comments thus far) I'll just roll on and not offer bundles with RATs anymore - happy to be taken to task by the Ozb community, I'll sell what clients want, and if they don't want RATs in future deal (or it causes too much drama) no offense taken ;-)

Our business model is actually get as many RATs as we can in - GIVE them for free to concession card holders, and the government pays us - this makes allot more $$ than selling anything Ozbargain, but I thought this deal may benefit some.

      • +3

Very measured response. Love to hear that you take on feedback and put together what the customers (or just OzB) want. I reckon this is a great deal.

I love seeing your Hayfexo deals, Fexo seems to be one of the only antihistamines that works for me at the moment. I'm not going to get better value anywhere else at this point it seems.

      • How much does gov pay per rat? I've been curious

  • -4

I was lucky to finally get rid of my last unit of the 100k RATs allocated to me last week. Both demand and price are dropping so don't stock too much as the RAT game (max margin) is nearing to a finish.

  • +1

    Hi Jason,

Is there such a thing as generic Rhinocort, and could you do a deal on it? :)

    • +3

I'll see what I can do, historically I've replied to PMs asking for this saying "not enough people interested, so can't get a bulk price", but I think I've responded with this about 20x times now - so maybe its worth a go. The main issue is I have to commit to 200x units or more of any SKU, if a deal tanks (as sometimes happens) I'm stuck with the stock and have to bundle it up (sometimes at a loss) to get rid of it. Kind of like the deal tonight, I've still got plenty of demand for RATs but I actually need to move several thousand units of Paracetamol and ibuprofen - anyway, let me see what I can do on the Rhino.

      • If you post one up in the next few days by itself or with ceterzine or loratadine, I'd buy
(Plenty of Fexofenadine left from last buys)

  • +15

Jason you seem like the most straight up and honest associated person on here, I applaud your attitude as well as your deals.

So many sellers get narky and have a cry when people offer suggestions or criticism, you listen and make adjustments, thanks for this!

    • +25

Thanks, I need all the support I can get tonight….. many more negs and I'll be banned for a period of time. All over including 1x RAT in a deal…ouch.

  • You know what they say Jason, damned if you do and damned if you don't!
I like the mixed bag deals. Great way to replenish the FA cupboard

  • +6

Jason keep killing it with the deals mate. You can’t do much about some of the people on here, some just read what they want to read and not the full picture of what else is being offered as well. Play on!

    • +5

Thanks for the support, just to pad my own ego I think I'll make the next deal an absolute ripper, get 100+ votes, have people email me telling me how wonderful I am etc etc (it happens) - Being a professional ozbargain poster certainly is a roller coaster.

      • Your doing fine, don't stress.

  • +2

    I smell a rat

  • -2

The private sector should not be involved in health as it's hopeless compared to government.

    • You clearly haven't worked in the health sector… the public hospitals are some of the most mismanaged places compared to private hospitals.

      • +2

        According to who?

I've worked in both and have found private to be less organised than public

        • -2

According to my wife who worked for 5 years in the public hospitals, got sick of it and went private.
Rampant theft from the store rooms, understaffed nurses. Prolific bullying. That's just some of the things she sees.

I work in private sector healthcare as well and there is no way in hell I would work in a public hospital. Have you had a look at Bankstown hospital in Sydney? That place is a joke. Also prior to the new hospital Manly hospital did not even have working aircons in the maternity wards, they relied on public donations.

Funding is so mismanaged and piss poor in the public system.

Also given the choice no one would do elective surgery in a public hospital, because guess what, doctors get paid more in the private system and are more attentive.

Medicare pays peanuts and is not worth the time for a lot of surgeons.
          http://www9.health.gov.au/mbs/fullDisplay.cfm?type=item&q=42…
          And
          http://www9.health.gov.au/mbs/fullDisplay.cfm?type=item&q=42…

An example. 800 bucks to perform an operation barely enough to cover cost of equipment and staffing cost. Do you wonder why there is such a huge list for cataract op wait time? Well that's why. Medicare used to pay over $850 for the op 10 years ago, then they decided because it is a short op they should be paid less, in addition the amount paid hasn't been indexed to inflation. Wait time ballooned from 6m to 18m currently. Now the only doctors that will operate under Medicare are residents.

  • -6

As a former community pharmacist I always chuckle at your deals . There is no clinical need for three different non sedating antihistamines .

If only the public knew the insane margins you make on these products.

    • +3

Because the fact that Loratadine works for me, Cetirizine for my wife, means that there couldn't be a 3 people in a family who all have ones that work for each of them better then others?
I'd think being a commercial pharmacist you'd have learnt that, I learnt that very early on being a nurse who administers the medications.

    • +5

Tell that to an immunologist I know who suggests rotating antihistamines.

  • Hey Jason, any plan for parecetamol, ibuprofen and nausea relief meds bundle? Need to some for migraines.

  • +3

Happy with my previous purchases. I still have enough for now. Sorry there are more inbreds on here nowadays Jason. I’ve always found you equal parts fair and good humoured.

  • It seems only a very small RATS detect Omicron.

Do yours specify they do detect Omicron?

  • -8

Interesting way to avoid being accused of price fixing for the RAT test…

  • +1

    Hi Jason,

Any chance of a kids pack? Like kids Panadol ibuprofen etc??

  • +5

Should just change title to “rat kit but you have to buy all the other stuff too”

    • +1

Title should be "$52 RAT kit with free random medicines."

  • +1

So OP, I should take 1 of each of the tablets before the test?

  • +6

Damn people must be bored. It's a bunch of medicine for your medicine cabinet/drawer with a RAT included. Always liked your deals with the range of medicine and have purchased in the past. You take the time to reply to internet trolls, so please ignore all the idiots on the internet.

    • Nah, people are just entitled AF. Can't even accept that some deals are just not for you SMH.

  • Are you able to do a pack for camping/travelling, including pain relief, stomach cramps/bugs, nausea, allergies, travel sickness and nausea?

    • How about including nausea, pain relief, nausea, stomach cramps, nausea, allergies, nausea, travel sickness and lets not forget nausea?

  • wtf is this deal

    • +7

What a creative way to admit you can't read

  • +1

Looks like good value of you need lots of anthistamines and a top up of analgesics.

If I were to make a recommendation it would be to try and even up the quantities, particularly the ibuprofen.

You've got roughly 5 months of antihistamines, 2 weeks of paracetamol, and 4 days of ibuprofen… And the imodium might only last a few days to a week depending on PRN use.
The other thing is with three different antihistamines people may take one of each not realising they're doubling up because usually one wouldn't purchase all at the same time. Not disasterous but they may have trouble peeing if they make this mistake.

Just a little constructive suggestions for next time. Keep up the good work and thanks for serving the community!

  • As someone with horrible hayfever this looks like a great price for fexofenadine

  • Why does your confirmation SMS come up as an international spammy number?

  • When you are shitting badly, can't smell the stench and wonder if that's cause you got covid.

  • lol the RAT pictured is being sold for very high margins at the moment. a few months ago they were $150-$160 a box of 20 from CostCo. I went to an independent supermarket today and they were selling them for $15 each.

  • -1

RATs are with us for months/years to come

Hopefully not, as surely this is just going to become endemic and Govt and people will get tired of testing to "keep us safe", unless you're admitted to hospital.

  • -3

I haven’t been able to find the rat tests on your site for sale outside of the bundle, if this is true then I would be careful as this could be considered third line forcing.
