Contacting Sony about Missing Cashback from Shopback - any luck?

Hi there!

I purchased a TV from sony during the Black Friday sales thinking i would get a cashback from Sony and want to see if there is more for my current situation.

My clicks to sony were registered on Shopback. I made an order for a TV around $2.1k hoping to get 10% cashback (I forgot if it was 10 but it would've been 8-11%).

In this case i did not click prior to using shopback click on Sony via cashreward at all and i do not have any chrome extensions installed.

I contacted Shopback about my missing cashback and got the following response. Has any other ozbargain-er managed to subsequently contact Sony?

I can understand not receiving what you expecting, and I regret to share this news.

I've looked into our partner's system and found the reason your claim was rejected is that your orders were not attributed to ShopBack. There are a few reasons this could happen, you may have clicked on banners in the merchant site or you have opened another affiliate link after clicking from ShopBack.

Hence it attributed to another marketing channel under the merchant side instead of ShopBack.

With this in mind, ShopBack will not receive any commission from the merchant for this order, which means we are not able to pay Cashback for this purchase.

Your kind understanding in this matter is highly appreciated.

    I doubt Sony would tell you anything. Your issue is between you and Shopback. Whether they got paid by Sony is between Shopback and Sony.

    Cashback like shopback and cashrewards can hide behind the users are at fault because they didn't use tracking.

    They get referrals while the users get zero cashback. It's long running scam.

      Yeah its always the high paying 'payouts' that fail to be tracked…. funny about that isn't it!

        You're right.

        The $1 cables payout is fine but the cashback from the big-ticket items seems to drop off a cliff nowhere to be found.

    Sounds like it’s a lost case then :(

    Shame because Buying it on the Sony website was a bit more expensive but it would’ve been cheaper had I gotten the cashback

      Never rely on these cashback things to work out the final price. Any cashback you actually receive should only be considered a bonus.
