Yeah, it's very square, bulky and big; has not a modicum of style. But unassuming, and functional.
I bought this for $50 in 2018 from BagWorld eBay.
I've commented on the few previous deals.
I definitely knock it was aesthetic, one. But, two, quality assurance is poor as me and others have commented here that they've had faults. For me I had an edge of one of the shoulder straps tear quite badly, from poor stitching, which I sewed well and it has kept ever since. I also had one of the bottle-holder meshes tear on the side, which I haven't touched (very rarely use) and it hasn't extended. All this in the first month or two. Thirdly, Samsonite Australia support in Australia is pretty much non-existent, and the one rep I remember getting through to on the phone a few times (maybe email) pretty much actioned nothing, until persistence after a long time got me a replacement (I chose a much more expensive option as an FU) which was even more big and ugly and I donated it.
Really wasn't expecting quality issues from a Samsonite product (even as this cost point), and from a bag that seemingly looks well made (the shoulder straps are actually very comfortable with great padding and width, the best I've used).
The fact that I keep dragging it around almost daily 4 years later probably tells you it's doing a decent job. Probably worth the punt at this price if you don't mind being uninspired by the design. But I'll be aiming at a much higher price point next time to try for something more handsome and stitched well.

Ordered, I was hoping to get the ALDI one but was waiting for it to go special after 4 weeks but looks like store send them back if they are not sold.
I bought the Aldi premium backpack for my high school kid. Didn't last a year. Granted it had a rough life in the hands of a high schooler but still….

In fairness, this looks more like their old style Essentials 15. And apparently their new-style Essential 15 is terrible, even at $12 on special a few days ago.. 😅
