is there a way to search/filter on oculus store, for games, based on comfort level ? obviously i need the most comfortable ones/less dizzy

    edit. found
If you go to the store on your phone/website through the oculus app, scroll to the bottom and you’ll see a “Browse All” section. Once you click into that, you can sort by Comfort rating. Sometimes it doesn’t save the filter so make sure it applies the Comfort filter.

  • Is there anywhere you gcan demo the Oculus to see if you like it?

You are more than welcome to come over to our place champ. For the record tho I do have an extensive criminal history but other than that I'm a stand-up guy.

    • +3

Find a friend with it? If you're a gamer, you'll love it.

Amazon's return policy is good enough that you can treat it as a demo.

    • if you like VR, you'll like the oculus. it's great value for money and there are many specials and sales to be had to slice a few dollars off

    Thanks for the share!

The Quest is worth it for iB cricket alone for mine. If you're a cricket player/fan it's bladdy brilliant.

    • which quest do you recommend?

      • +4

        oculus quest 2 for sure…

      • +1

        Quest 2 definitely.

Ditto, it's super fun. It's been my daily game, along with Eleven Table Tennis. Though their recent update that introduced stumping is slightly annoying, means you'd have to adjust where you stand (especially against spinners), as the Quest obviously can't track where your feet are.

      • +1

Yeah especially on higher difficulty levels against spin the way their stumping setup works atm makes things a lot tougher. Afaik they are working on a fix and most likely an update this month. For now I just try to clear the front leg and try to hit as straight as possible haha.

I hate spin bowling! I didn't even try to score runs anymore. It's all about conserving my wickets until I can smash the pace bowlers again

          • @Leonidas: Haha yeah it takes some getting used to especially on turners. Try to hit straight that works for me. Also work on the sweep. Their practice/coaching mode is great definitely give that a go as well if you haven't done so. You can select just spin on there and spend some time honing your skills and figure out what works for you.

            • @dins: What bat size do you use? I need to play the game more, but it seemed hard to balance the difficulty. Either was too easy, hitting everything with power, or the bat size 0-10% had me missing stuff I wouldn't in real life.

              • @JoeSchmogan: You mean the bat shield? That depends on the difficulty and batting positions right. I generally play on either hard or medium difficulty. So there should be a couple of bats with good bat shields, a couple or so with decent ones and the rest with none or thereabouts.

Also do note that when it comes to low or no bat shield batsmen they also don't show the type of deliveries off the bowlers' hand. So it's those special deliveries that might be doing you in I would reckon.

Also thought I share a few iB Cricket tips for anyone interested. To make the graphics sharper go to settings and max out render scale plus max out brightness via Oculus settings as well.

To improve gameplay make sure you work out your ideal height and bat grip settings. Also I take a leg stump guard since there are no pads/body that helps a lot for mine.

As for the controller I don't think you can buy their bat in Oz but I bought a set of those Beat Saber dual controller handles with extended connector for Quest off AliExpress. Connecting the extention handle to one of the controller handles works really well.

However very important this one make sure that you have the controller secured by more than a single strap. I nearly learned that the hard way. I used just the velcro strap that came with the controller handle and it ended up being ripped apart when I charged down trying to flog a spinner. The controller had flown out of the handle and hit the OLED and it was at this moment that I knew I fooked up bad. Miraculously didn't cause any damage but not gonna lie my life definitely flashed before my eyes.

So be very careful and always make sure that you have enough room and the controller/s are fully secured (at least in a couple of ways).

  • How does it compare to IB cricket which is great BTW.

    • +2

Nothing comes close to iB Cricket it's in a league of it's own.

  • +1

I downloaded it and have played it for about 10 mins. Mind you, I am not the target market.

It was ok. Pretty intuitive. Hitting the duck with my bat after I went out was fun. I don't really see myself replaying it though.

  • Shame it's not free for Rift users :( Still original price
    Great find though!

  • This looks fun, any deals on the oculus quest?

    • check the ocu store everyday they have daily special

  • +1

Thanks! I've been looking for a decent VR cricket experience.

  • Also there's Cover Drive Cricket Demo you can check out.

  • +1

This might be misinterpreted when saying "I'm going home to have a bat" I guess?

  • FYI: You can claim it even if you don't currently have an Oculus on you Fb/Meta account.

  • Just played this damn it's awful not gonna lie. No doubt iB Cricket is where it's at when it comes to VR cricket rest are not even in the picture.

    • +1

      Agreed, doesn't compare to iB

  • Tried it…. doesn't really feel like I'm hitting the ball and I have no idea where the ball ended up if I did hit it, not without looking around anyway (unless I hit it directly in front of me). There doesn't seem to be much connection between bat and ball compared to something like Eleven Table Tennis. Free though and perhaps it will get better over time.

Looks like it may be just a single coder so that's impressive.

Guessing that IB Cricket feels better?

    • On a scale of 5 this is like a one at best and iB Cricket is easily a Michelle Pfeiffer.

There's a Cover Drive Cricket demo (linked above) which is a lot better and semi decent. Try that one out.
