Saw this in Costco's email. Updating my kitchen and thinking if I should get this one instead of a "traditional" oven as I don't bake things a lot.

Meet the Ninja Foodi XL Pro Air Oven, the extra large toaster oven and air fry oven with True Surround Convection. You get up to 10X the convection power of a traditional full size convection oven so you can make quick family meals on 2 levels, no rotating required. With a product built like that it makes you wonder how different this would cook compared to a regular fan forced oven that has a turbo fan button.

Probably similar but a oven usually takes longer to heat up due to size.

  • Ninja Foodi XL Air Fry Oven

Is this better than the Shinobi ?

    • No

Better get the Samurai Tom Cruise.

I have a $2k oven and $350 Philips XXL Air Fryer… Oven gets used once every 3 months and the Air Fryer more than once a day. We're a family of 4.

    • +1

Exactly! That's why I'm thinking of skipping the oven in my new kitchen but everyone is telling me I'll regret if I ever rent out or sell my apartment later.

      • +7

Don't skip the oven, just dont pay $2k for one :p [And no idea why you got negged for this comment]

      • +2

Don't skip it ! You wouldn't like to limit yourself come renting or selling to only couples because there is no oven to prepare larger meals for family. There are dishes your air fryer can't do, example is a whole roast duck we did the other day, the air fryer oven is simply not big enough.

        • One of the photos for the product literally shows a whole chicken and tray of potatoes being roasted in the oven I think you could manage to jam a duck into it if you really wanted to =P

        • i did a whole chicken on my xxl, granted it's one of those macro organic ones from woolies.

          so you can technically

  • These oven style air fryers work a lot better in my experience. Had the Phillips air fryer in the past and went to a Instant Pot Vortex Plus Air Fryer Oven from Amazon (which is now $239) and the there is a world of difference in evenness of cooking etc.

    • These oven style air fryers work a lot better

So why not just use an oven ?

      • I've also got the Vortex, and I've never been able to get food to crisp up in an oven like it does (plus does it in <20mins), maybe my oven isn't that great though.

      • Because we have a 900mm oven which takes a while to heat up AND chips/nuggets never come out as crispy as in the airfryer (the Vortex has a rotisserie basket)

    • Thanks for your experience
Always thinking about getting an Air Fryer again (had one 7yrs ago but I just ended up using the oven)

Tossing up between the Philips and Vortex
Any other experiences you can add between the 2 ?

      • The -ve side of Philips is the cleaning part..it's really hard to clean the elements inside…as I just tried to do it this morning.

This new "open" type air fryer looks much easier to clean although I don't use one so cannot comment on it.

        • Yes. That is absolutely correct. Our vortex takes 1 minute to clean.

    • I've wondered that myself tbh. Might get one of these bad boys for my theatre/gaming room :p

Does it cook food for Ninja, or cook Ninja?

    • It is for foodies who eat Ninja.

  • I have Philips Airfryer XXL and I use it everyday, only thing I hate is cleaning up, especially when cooking different food dishes back to back.

This looks like much easier to clean up, especially when using oven trays.

    • you'll still need to wipe it out like an oven.
but yeah trays just straight into the dishwasher
