[PS5] Ghost of Tsushima PS5 Directors Cut Upgrade via PS4 Disc $37.30 (Usually $45)

190

To upgrade you have to insert your PS4 disc into the PS5 and you should see the upgrade option appear. There is no PS5 upgrade option through the PlayStation store.

Note this is the PS5 upgrade only. Not the standalone digital PS5 game.

i'm playing the PS4 version on PS5, is the PS5 upgrade worth the additional cost?

    • +1

      I'll let you know

    • Nicer graphics, faster processing/load times (I think - they are damn near instant on ps5 version anyway), and some pretty cool haptic feedback effects.

Depends on your definition of worth it.

Still way too expensive for a generation upgrade

    • The PS5 patch is free, just pop your PS4 version disc in and it’ll patch. this just unlocked the directors cut dlc.

      • +5

Not quite correct - the 60FPS patch is free playing the PS4 version in backwards compatibility mode. The PS5 version also adds support the adaptive triggers and other dualsense functions, and their '3D audio' for TVs or headphones. In theory it should have faster load times too but honestly they were stupidly quick even with the PS4 version.

Yeah you can take advantage of the PS5 patch on the PS4 version, but you won't be playing a current generation software title. You have to pay this massive fee to actually upgrade your copy to a native PS5 version, which is ridiculous considering all the other games which have done this same thing and charged much less.

      • It is this sort of pedantry and seriously helpful information which makes me love OzBargain !!!!!

I take my hat off to all of you :)

This upgrade also exists for PS4 but is slightly cheaper than PS5. The main drawcard for me is the new area and the haptic feedback, it isn't just a cosmetic upgrade like other PS4 to PS5 upgrades. I thoroughly enjoyed the game so to me its worth it. Hope it drops in price soon for you to enjoy it too.

    WTF? A $38 UPGRADE?

    • +4

Yeah. It's ridiculous. Way too much. Especially for what it is, a very DECENT game. That's all.

  • +7

I know this has expanded content in it. But how PlayStation fans aren’t ripping PlayStation a new one over this crap is beyond me. Especially given A. PC don’t charge you every time you upgrade your GPU. B. Xbox largely has these upgrades free.

lmao they want HOW much for this upgrade that requires a previous purchase?

Jesus (profanity) Christ, I'm trying not to suck Phil Spencer too hard here, but that is (profanity) insane, goddamn Sony.

  • +2

Maybe the ps5 upgrade will be free soon like FF7…👍

  • +2

    Do better Sony

  • +4

This is for the PS5 upgrade AND the "Directors Cut" upgrade which adds DLC. You can upgrade the base PS4 version to the base PS5 version without the DLC for $15

  • +1

in a few months you will be able to by the disk version for <$45 in the bargain bin

  • Is the PS4 DC>PS5 DC upgrade discounted at the moment?

  • -3

Not sure what the OP is promoting here- I think it's a PS4 version of the base game? Or maybe just trolling?

I only paid AU$15 to upgrade my existing PS4 Disc to the PS5 Director's Cut (including Iki Island Expansion) from the PS Store when it launched in August.

    • +1

I'm sorry that this is the way you find out you aren't playing the PS5 version.

    • You must be lucky. Generally, you either purchase this for PS5 upgrade or purchase the GoT game to Director's cut (Main Game + Expansion). Then spend another $15 to get the upgrade.
