In my opinion this game is boring.

    • +27

Get owned for having an opinion…poor guy

It's certainly a slow burn style game, I would assume a lot find it boring, personally found it brilliant.

      • Agreed rough crowd here. I played it, probably got about 50% through and then just stopped. Despite that, I also found it a brilliant game.

    • +4

I felt the same the first time I played it. I played it a second time when they added VA for everything, I enjoyed it way more because I played it in a way that made me laugh (dialogue choices, etc). Didn't finish it but I was satisfied.

      • +5

VA - voice acting. added as part of major game update in mar '21.

      • +1

Oh wow, I did not know they added this! I felt a bit spoilt after playing Divinity Original Sin 2 first where they voiced everything.
That was what sort of turned me off this a little, but I'll definitely have to go give this another shot

        • +2

Yep. I imagine they were able to fund it pretty easily considering the massive success it turned out to be. The voice acting is very very good too.

      Stick to your fortnite.

The internet has a boner for games like Disco Elysium, Firewatch and several other games whose reputations make them untouchable, even if a casual gamer like you or me only found them passably okay.

Also, TLOU2 sucks harder than any other game released this century. Furthermore, Carthage must be destroyed.

Shadow Tactics on the other hand is the best game I’ve played in years and is unmissable.

      • -3

There are people enjoying this kinda interactive novel/movie disguised as a video game.
I am not a big fan, either
I am looking for "flow state" or "the zone" when I am playing a game, it's rarely found in dialogue reading
Agree on TLOU2 sucks the most. That game made me quit PlayStation. If the game developer don't give a (profanity) about my feelings, I don't give the (profanity) back
Also Shadow tactics is easily on the list of my favourite games. Desperados III didn't make the cut.

        • +3

Basically some people love to sink into a great narrative in the same way that you want to get "into the zone". I like both. Speaking of getting into the zone - have you played Thumper?

          • +1

@johnno07: I'm scared to play Thumper under the influence. Mulitcoloured vortex my brain couldnt handle

      • Carthago delenda est

I feel the same way about this game as Knights of the Old Republic. When that came out, people praised it up the stairs and back down again. OMG! Dialogue is so good! Biggest dialogue tree of all time! Dialogue! Talking! Yay!

Same with FFVII. I loved those games back when you actually played them. Now its FMVorama up the wuzi. If I want to watch dialogue I'll watch a freaking movie for Petes sake.

    • Did you listen to the dialogue or read it? The audio makes a big difference.

    • -2

      What a terrible opinion lmao

    • I was playing this game and at the very beginning the character died of heart attack because he looked too close into the mouth of a dead man (was doing the autopsy thing). No save game meant that I had to replay the whole thing to get to that autopsy point. It honestly pissed me off and didn’t play anymore. Wtf is that even supposed to mean?

  • +5

Bloody good price. Slow burn though…

  • +11

I have nothing but good things to say about DE.

  • +8

The amount of details that goes into this game is crazy.
its definitely not a casual game, and extremely meticulous, I've only spent 4 hours on it but it feels like i haven't even touched 5% of the game. Its definitely like an interactive click adventure, board game and yes slow burn (they even have such elements in the game)

P.S. beautiful voice acting (in my opinion)

  • +2

A regular person IRL : there is a tie on the ceiling fan.

Dictionary Elysium: "This fan has two chain pull switches — one ends in a tiny fan, the other in a light bulb. A truly horrific nectie has somehow attached itself to one of the blades. Savoir Faire - Medium 10 - Grab The Tie"

Its like the script was written by adderall junkies.
That's one long winded text for retrieving your tie, there's one set for your pants, your shoes etc etc etc

    • +6

They do well at expressing the protagonist's self loathing like that. Even his tie doesn't escape.

    • +2

Dang, imagine reading books or paying attention to films instead of listening to them while scrolling a smartphone.

      • Normal people have the attention span of an adderall infused three year old.

    • +1

And I hope you saved before turning the light on :D

    • +1

That regular person though would be boring to watch a story through though.

      • +1

        True enough
        have a +1
I thought the game is un-necessarily wordy on occasions where it don't need to be - eg the main character getting dressed and realising he'd thrown out his shoes out the window.

  • +13

This game is a 10/10 masterpiece in my book and deserves all it's praise.
Again not for everyone's taste and I recommend watching some gameplay of the first 20-30 minutes on Youtube before buying.

You'll need a lot of time and patience.

  • +3

poured hours and hours into the game , its great.

    also….. aliens.

  • +3

You just need to get the price over $22.99 in your cart to use the $15 coupon. If you don't want Shadow Tactics you can pick any game.

https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/browse?sortBy=currentP… - list of games on sale from $0 up. If you add "Hamsterdam" (sounds awesome) total price is $9 which is a great price. And you get Hamsterdam.

Personally I grabbed AER with a total of $9.39.

  • Thoroughly enjoyed this game.

  • +1

Cheers. Already had Disco Elysium, but hadn't seen this earlier voucher deal. Got CivVI platinum and trials rising for just over 11 dollars.

  • Masterpiece. Even better with full voice acting now. Get on it.

  • Shadow Tactics is also very good but I recommend playing Desperados III first.

  • Polarising game, and that is just in my own head!
Really challenging to play a game that is so unique and rewards you for things others punish you (Meth anyone??)
I think it was about hour 6-8 where I had that a-ha moment and found it engrossing.
Probably not really a game for those without appreciation of politics and society

  • +1

Thanks! I went with Icewind Dale as my extra game, so I can have a go at reliving my youth.
