pay you to take care of your own child? I think that was your responsibility when your child was born.

        • +4

So I assume your kids aged primary and high school are all home schooled?
Because you naturally wouldn't want the government paying someone to take care and provide them education, of course.

        • -1

LOL. Not according to government. Everyone is a child and all are owned by government.

      • -1

I swear childcare fees were waived during the first and second wave.

        • +2

          Nope

          • @Mkak: It was waived in the 1st phase, for sure.
            Not sure about the 2nd

      • +8

Perhaps you should educate yourself a bit better as kids these ages can indeed attend early education centres.

        • +6

Not that I agree both parents should work while allowing government to brainwash their kids

Thankfully your 'views' aren't a basis for government policy or parental child raising options.

          • -4

@SBOB: And that's fine… some raise compliant gullible sheep. We'll raise productive critical thinkers.

        • +3

aaaaand right of the deep end you go!

    • +3

Yeah don't vote him please and Scotty

        • +5

          Oh please..do tell.
Whose first on your preference list then?

I really need help voting in the next election and fear im just far too brain washed to make an informed decision…

          • -2

@SBOB: Undecided. Because you can bet they'll announce an election with as little time as possible for other parties/candidates to prepare - just as they've guaranteed their little cabals have a huge financial advantage, so most sheople will vote for more of the same widespread abuse. Possibly someone independent though.

            • +11

@[Deactivated]: Come on, you can just admit it's United Australia Party….
"Labor, Liberal, Greens LAST" is literally a Clive Palmer quote in one of his many many advertisments

              • -3

@SBOB: Nope. I've said that for years but only heard about them recently. Not sure what to think about Palmer. The teeny bit I've heard about him has been from lying media toddler tantrums while shopping in stores, garages, etc where the dumbed-down worker drones need their media life support permanently connected. (I unplugged Neo from TV and radio years ago.) It would have to be difficult to do any worse than Labor and Liberal though - both are parasites - noxious ticks slowly poisoning us all (figuratively AND actually now). And Greens have always been plain awful, but thankfully, largely insignificant.

I've said that for years but only heard about them recently.

Well…from someone so well educated and critical thinking to know the vaccine is fake and everyone's a sheeple…you sure don't seem to be up on current affairs.

'recently'…it was around in the last election (and before, but we will ignore those failed earlier attempts)

                  • -1

                    @SBOB: I never said "everyone".

I'm up on only those current affairs which are the most important. But I won't suck the teet of the lying conspiracy theorists in the media and government daily. And what is most important right now is removing those from power who cite anti-logic and psuedoscience, mislabel and mandate nonsense long proven ineffective, who behave like they the CCP and we their despised serfs.

Well, you'll fit right in with the United Australia party voters then.
You're a Craig Kelly poster child

                      • @SBOB: [Sigh]. I don't care who ends the b.s. and begins following some real science for a change, as long as they do. I don't care who starts abiding by Federal Law put in place yonks ago to protect us, instead of fining to force compliance in direct opposition to it. The aforementioned tri-forked-tongue cabal of serpents have voiced zero interest in doing so.

        • +4

HAHAHAHA "FREEDOM, FREEDOM, FREEDOM", does that ring a bell?
You're voting for a used furniture salesman and a lazy amoeba who last ran to prop up the LNP and his own wallet, and sit in parliament a few days out of the sitting calendar.
It's easy to pick out the gullible fools. 🤡🤡🤡

removing those from power who cite anti-logic and psuedoscience

          Interesting.

          • @Techie4066:

It's easy to pick out the gullible fools.

Yes, voting for the same illogical and dishonest tyrants citing junk science has always been the sign of a high IQ score, lol.

100% we had our daughter in childcare during covid and had her at home for the second half of the year due to delta outbreak.

We still paid even when she didn’t go as the government didn’t subsidise the centres either and you can only take her out for a period of time before you lose a place.

So why are young kids not factored in this? Seems really stupid.

      • +1

I agree, trying to work through lockdown with a baby and 2.5 year old at home was an absolute nightmare. But I'm guessing the reason is because schools are a state government responsibility, and childcare or CCS is federal. The state government aren't going to give money out for something that isnt theirs.

Discover omicron at entertainment centre lol

    • +1

Not even kidding. Last time went to timezone next day txt from service message about positive case entered the same time.

      • -4

you will be fine, omicron isn't fatal to most. as you can see, you are alive and able to reply to comment.

        • Not worried about health related issues. Need to make money to be alive…

        • -1

Pity psuedoscience and spreading propaganda isn't fatal. If it were all their nonsense would have ended before their fictional "two weeks to flatten the curve" was up.

            Careful what you wish for……

    • +1

I guess the numbers will go up using these vouchers… Is that not counter-productive and indirectly increase case numbers??

  • +14

Money for business. Money for parents.

Nothing for singles working hard, saving up for a house on a single income and paying taxes.

    • -3

Wait util you have kid(s) and you will realise you were much better off money-wise, or to some extent, mental-wise… :)

      • +10

Having kids is a choice mate. This is going completely against the ethos of advancing Australia fair.

        • When every woman you date wants a child, its no longer a choice for men

        • Staying single is also a choice. We know the tax system does not gear towards singles with no family and kids. So if you want to jump on the bandwagon you have to make that choice

          • @neonlight: Yes the tax system is already unfair towards singles.

Do you need to dig a bigger hole with these vouchers?

    • -5

Whichever group gets subsidies, vouchers etc there will always be someone who missed out whining about it not being fair.

      • +13

Not exactly. Govts have the ability to recognise everyone or every group like the previous Dine and Discovery vouchers.

        • -1

Rediculous comment. Discover vouchers don't recognise those who have to spend $100+ in fuel to travel to redeem a $25 voucher. I'll get these vouchers but I doubt I'll use them. No complaints from me.

I've seen deals in the past be negged or complained about because some poor OzBargainer can't get the deal, such as a pizza deal but the code doesn't work for their local store, etc. It's happening again.

          • +1

@heal: I am saying the Discovery vouchers is an example of a way govts could include all. If they are willing, they would also be able to come up with creative ways for those who needs to travel long distances.

            • @ilovefullprice: I'm more into equity rather than equality.

              • -1

                @heal:

                Rediculous comment

Have you seen your comment questioning the ethical nature of getting bargains due to price errors? Sounds like hypocrisy to me. Sorry 😉

                • @MuddyClear: Haha …you got so mad i called you out elsewhere you tried to find something to call me out on. You're not making much sense here unfortunately

                  • -1

@heal: You’re right. Only a fool would question the ethical nature of bargains due to price errors on a ozbargain website. Anyway, It’s only fair I look into your activity as you have done to me so don’t be so sensitive 😉

              • -1

@heal: Alright so I am unlucky in my love life and couldn’t find a partner no matter how hard I try. Does that mean I should be charged less tax compared to couples when purchasing a house on a single income due to my circumstances…

        • Governments have and will always target certain groups in society with hand outs to improve their polling in the hope for votes. They will also have bulk hand outs that cover more groups (like dine and discover).

My point is there will always be people who miss out and some of those people will whine it not being fair.

  • So these can be used at luna Park? Maybe I can buy an annual pass with it..?

    Thanks dom.

    • at Discover NSW businesses for entertainment and recreation activities
at Stay NSW businesses for accommodation bookings

As long as luna Park is on the Discover, that should be fine :D

Nothing is free, We are all going to pay it back with interest.

    • +10

Even worse for me. I don't get anything and then I have to pay tax so that all these parents get to have $250 vouchers >:(

      • -1

Because they're created future taxpayers, what are you creating?

  • +11

It would have been cheaper for the government to ensure adequate supply of RAT & PCT tests and to have left the Pre-December 15 restrictions in place.

  • +3

Need to update my website to show these new listings…

    Sorry, NGPriest was lazy… :S

    Edit: Finished updating it…
Feel free to test it out at https://nswdnd.ngpriest.com/

  • I reckon the Treasurer Should be begging Scomo for 50% contribution .
But no way they will as last one benefited their biz mates if it passed .

  • +13

Meanwhile NSW teachers have been told their work isn't even worth a pay increase in line with inflation.

    • And these vouchers were originally advertised as a “thank you for the parents who home schooled”
Nothing for the teachers that prepared the lessons! Not even a decent payrise! Ridiculous.

  • +1

is it 5 vouchers per family or per child

    • Is it 5 vouchers per parent if parents are separated?

  • +4

" at Discover NSW businesses for entertainment and recreation activities"

    Aw hell no.

Redeeming those vouchers has been a huge pain in the rear. Customers come up and "TRY" to use them. Sometimes they're already used, sometimes they've already used a voucher from that account already, sometimes they've taken a screenshot and need their partner/mother/cousin to message them a new screenshot, or sometimes it takes them five god damn minutes at the front counter to find the stupid things. Please no more vouchers for the public….especially when most of them can't even manage to wear their masks when they should.

  • The website to search for venues is terrible. Can only search one suburb at a time, even when some postcodes have multiple suburbs. Makes it hard to 'discover' places that really need the business. Most will likely go to timezone or large chain cinemas.

      COVID, right? 😅

  • -1

My local drug dealer accepts these, 5 x fiddy's it is 🤣🤣🤣

  • Thanks OP

  • +2

Yeh why not go for it - just more for the future generations to pay back in extra taxes and less services.
Seems the whole of Australia is now hooked on getting what they can from "the system".
Those doing the handout will be long gone when the final bill some dues for payment

  • -3

Thanks OP! Don't care about people's political affiliation. Political parties are all the same and just say what you want to hear to get elected.

    • That's if you know absolutely zilch, yes.

      • Oh no I got down voted by some easily offended keyboard warriors! Who cares!

        • Not by me so cry some more. The political apathetic wear their unawareness as a badge of honour. You are a complicit enabler of the erosion of democracy.

  • Can these be used as a lump sum $250 or do you have to use them on five separate occasions?

    • 1 voucher a day.

      • Not much good for accommodation then

  • all politicians are liars in some way, shape or form

but as someone who lives in NSW (for the time being) this is a deal - so a + from me

  • -4

    Targetted

  • I voucher a day so if I booked 2 nights accommodation. Can I use 2 x$50?

    • +1

I dont see where the 'voucher a day' comes from

      T's and C's state
"4.9 Vouchers can be used separately or multiple Vouchers can be used in the one transaction up to a total of $250"

  • Thanks OP, just applied and got the vouchers.

  • Got the vouchers

    • lucky, the website keeps crashing
