Good price - still expensive - but a good price compared to the usual. Only thing holding me back is the lack of HDMI 2.1, not a big deal for every one but for the cost I feel it's needed.

    • agree about the 2.1 for something you are going to keep for 5+ years better to have that futureproofing

    • There's an update coming that'll allow 1080p120 and 1440p120 but yes, no 4K120 without HDMI 2.1 makes this a tough sell for now.

    • If you are using AVR you shouldnt need hdmi 2.1. you should be able to plug it into HDMI 2 output on your AVR as most Receivers have 2 outputs

      • True, but AVRs with 2x outputs that can simultaneously do both 4K120 and 4K60 are very expensive

I can’t seem to justify anything above $100 for hdmi sync box, Guess I will just wait for now

I'm with you, first of all I prefer to watching movie in dark without any flashy bits. Perhaps this maybe good for music videos, other than that this is just s way over priced gimicy product.

      • I've seen some videos with out used on PlayStation/Xbox and it looked very cool but can't decide if I'd hate actually playing games like this

        • I do admit it's looks cool but definitely not practical, perfect for showing off lol

    • if you wanna go DIY try Hyperion, it does have its caveats though

      • Yep, Hyperion + addresses able led + raspberry pi will get you there.

Under AU$100 depending on your screen size

  • So expensive..
Would love to see an open source solution, maybe using FPGA

      • I will give it a try lol

    • So expensive..

That's before adding in the light strip and Philips Hue bridge if you don't already have 1 :) If you're starting out from scratch its probably a few hundred $'s more.

Govee with the camera works pretty good

    • Yep working very nice.

    • I have the updated Govee. For the price, it's amazing. And once you're watching, you forget the camera is there. Just be warned that mounting it on top of a OLED thin TV is a bit tricky. I used a sticky foam behind the tv on top to mount it.

      • Ooh they updated it? Gonna look it up now. Can't see the differences?

The old one was a 720p camera. The update is a 1080p camera.

          • @he11bent: Ahh ok. Is there much difference on the quality or the lights itself. Didn't think the camera needed to be too high reso as it's just reading colours.

            • @EnergicAU: I think so. There are more light zones compared to the old one. All I know, I'm damn happy with it.

  • Build you own, it's pretty easy. I built mine under $130-170 (depends on choice of raspberry pi) for a 65 inch tv. You need a raspberry pi (3b+,4b or zero w 2), capture card, power supply, a usb-c or micro-usb cable (again varies as per selection of pi), led strip (go with ws2812b) and some jumper cables.

Brought this for the 270$ for the 75 inch tv. Its god damn amazing. love watching shows with it now. Arcane was awesome with it. hightly recommend

With the app you can also soften the colour changes so there not as seizure inducing. But it is fun to show off to people who come visit

  • if you're using an Android based box, like a firetv, you can just install the sync app - Works fine and does the job.

  • Is it me or its showing as $408.47?
