  • I've heard THE waterwipes have gone down in quality. How do these fare?

    • These are great. Cheaper and way better

Seems the price has gone back up. That was quick

  • I wish they did 480 refills like Huggies do.

    • Haven’t seen any stock for a while now

I wouldn’t put those on any baby. Here an interesting review:

Great price! But I’m not a quack and crystals are dumb. I believe in vaccines and science. I also have a Biology degree.

However this ingredient on babies isn’t shown to be safe. One baby sucking on wipes containing phenoxyethanol apparently ended up with kidney failure.

Google it and find reputable (not sketch resources). And add this chemical to your avoid list.

    • Lucky these are for wiping and not eating.

Lucky your baby doesn’t eat! P.S.: I wouldn’t ever use this product for our baby!

It's not uncommon for parents to use wipes for dirty mouths and faces. And I know our one year old grabs the wipe pack any opportunity he gets and will put them in his mouth so definitely worth knowing. We're using Joonya wipes so hopefully they're fairly safe.

How many wipes do they go through in a day,? Trying to workout the quantity to bulk buy when on special

          • @Mazozb: We're going through around 15 wipes for both nappies and general cleanup. We've tried a heap of brands (not this one though) and have found Joonya the best so far. Cheaper ones we've tried have been too small, too thin, hard to get out the packet, too wet, haven't even considered the toxic part mentioned above and you end up using more wipes for the same job. When you're dealing with shit and a kicking bucking baby, it's not an area I've tried to save money on but maybe there are cheaper good alternatives out there.

@Mazozb: Put dates on one packet and do your estimation, every baby is different

            • @Laziofogna: Baby is not due till July .. first.

              • +2

@Mazozb: You won’t use many when they’re that young (vs when they have solid foods and solid poos!)… but honestly they don’t expire and don’t go bad as long as you don’t open them or leave in hot areas so no harm stocking up. That being said if your baby isn’t born yet maybe think about whether you really need these water wipes vs other cheaper options. We only use these because our daughter had eczema and sensitive to other wipes.

                • @jace88: Thanks. Was wondering about shelf life. Family history of skin issues so ill probably go for the "best" option to minimise risk. Been reading how water wipes quality has gone bad (and some conern about the 2nd ingredient in them). Really not sure to be honest

                  • @Mazozb: If the cost isn’t an issue and you also have good reason to suspect it’ll be beneficial then go for it. We use these and if you only buy when they’re about $2.50 a pack or less then it’s not too bad. I also recommend keeping an eye out on the mini packs too which whilst very pricey relative, can be a godsend when all you need is a small pack to carry with you to the park or as a last resort backup in the car (be weary of this though since heat in the boot can still fry them out or leave the pack with a lot of water at the bottom of the pack).

      • As per above post:

The only restriction given by the French ANSM is not to use phenoxyethanol as a preservative in cosmetic products intended for application to the nappy area (including wipes) of infants and children aged under 3 years.

She sounds coocoo. Nowdays when someone starts with "I believe in science" I see red flags. Science is not a religion or an ideology.

    • I’m so dissapointed in how ozbargainer have become lately.
      They’re so quick to neg.

I get what you’re saying here and yes, parents do tend to wipe baby mouths with these too.

      Also.
Imagine if a baby found it’s way into finding a pack and do what babies do best… put things in their mouths.
Wondering if that’s how the baby that got kidney failure occurred.

Take my up vote to make up for the neggers here.

Bought it used once and returned. So dry and small.
    Waterwipe is better
