Nomsayin?
Nice find mate. Too bad I dont have immediate travel plans though.
is there any individual entertainment on flight? or its a share one?
http://www.airpacific.com/Flying-With-Us/Fleet
Their Boeing 747-400 is the only aircraft with seat back video, which I presume would use this route…
My sister just got the flight back from LA. it had no entertainment screen at all but for that price who cares you can buy a Nintendo ds and play it the whole way
I think you can also fly between 1 Aug 12 to 31 Oct 12 according to the site?
I'm so tempted to buy these. I've never been overseas before. How do you guys just buy tickets on a whim?
book a ticket, take the ride.
live your life spontaneously, its gets boring if you dont. Just do it, once you book it, your locked in and cant back out and i promise you that travelling is the greatest thing on earth. You just need to take that first step.
I agree, especially the USA. I love going over there, it really is the land of the free.
Make sure you go to Vegas, I make sure I go everytime, it is a place of cheap 4 star hotels (check out Monte Carlo), and heaps of fun.
Just don't gamble your return ticket away haha.
Vegas was great first time my wife and I went in 1997. Everything in the casinos was subsidised to get people through the doors.
Unfortunately, while we have gone back twice and enjoyed it the place has become more expensive. The hotels cut down on the subsidies.
It may be cheap again at the moment though, following the GFC and the US economic wreck.
great find OP, no plans to travel but +1 anyway !
Don't think it's that great of a deal. Similar prices to be found elsewhere for same dates or even peak season during early June to end of July - check Skyscanner or Momondo. I just purchased flights to Philly for $1400 return with one stopover in LAX.
You can fly air china if you want, they are always the cheapest throughout the year.
Air China? no thanks, cheap yes, but I'd prefer a flight direct to USA.
Because if you didn't realise - I don't find either an AMAZING enough deal Einsteine. Hence, my original point - it's not that great of the deal. [Mod: removed insult]
The core issue was about price. I bought my ticket with Delta who are also doing $1100 direct to LAX during that same period. The point is - there's no need for a stopover on route to LAX nor is there a need to pay for a price that's seemingly not that great. I've been looking at US airfares for the last 5 months and nothing so far has beaten Delta or United. Crap services in relevance to other airlines but for the US route, it's the best value you'll get.
Well then why dont you freakin well post it on the website then?
14 hour flights can be rather painful. Having done it thrice, I'd like a stopover.
I should also mention that having flown on United, I'd like to try another airline. Please, any other airline.
its over $300 cheaper. i think its pretty good if you can avoid travelling at peak.
Another thing to consider, is that you will earn Points and Status Credits that go towards your Qantas Frequent Flyer Status. (If you are a QFF Member, but lets face it, with Everyday rewards, who isn't a QFF)
Also an indirect flight usually nets you more SC than a direct flight. So if you are short a couple SCs, this might be ideal.
I'm just as cheap as everyone else here, but I think $300 spent on better quality travelling is money well spent, especially since you're stuck there for 16 hours each way.
After reading your comment on Momondo I checked them out.. awesome prices… thanks for the tip!! :)
Nice find OP ;)
Its a pretty good deal at the moment, Qantas was doing SYD-LAX return on an A380 for around ~$1250 a couple of months ago.
Air Pacific is better for doing Business Class from NAN (Nadi) - LAX which costs you around $1940 (after conversion from FJD) and the SYD-NAN return is fairly cheap, (around the $600 mark).
So you're talking about going Syd-LAX in a pseudo-business service for ~$2500.
(reason why I say pseudo-business, is because Air Pacific Business is not as nice as Qantas A380 Business, as it is an old SQ 747).
for a bit more you can go via tokyo with japan air. much better airline too.
and spend 20 hours in the air = transfers instead of 14 hours direct….
Have you taken a look? It's actually a bad deal. You have 1 stopover in Fiji and the stopover is well over 5 hours. In this case, it's 9 hours.
Whoever posted this has not done their research or doesn't fly often.
Delta goes direct for $1150 and service on both airlines in comparable. If you're going to spend this kind of money, might as well save yourself the torment of sitting in an airport waiting room, paying ridiculous amounts for food and drink there and basically being bored out of your mind.
I would assume that most people wouldn't fly to Fiji and have a stopover of 5 hours. They'd schedule in a couple of days as a free stopover. Even if you do just have the 5 hours, Nadi airport is easy to get to from town as long as you don't get a driver on "Fiji time".
I often fly to NY so I always look for a stopover on the way. Last time I had a stopover in San Francisco for a couple of days. This time round I'm flying to Osaka for a couple of days and to NY direct from there, cheaper than direct.
Thanks OP
